Hi,
i was curious as to how one earns points on pin pics? Also, do others not receive responses for their trade requests? I've sent out several trade requests via pinpics to ppl I'm certain are active on pinpics (they have brand new pins either for trade or in their wants) and I get no response. I'm a fairly knowledgeable pin trader so I'm never asking for a hidden Mickey for a WDI or anything, but 95% of the time I get zero response. I always respond to a trade request, even if it's no just bc I feel like it's the polite thing to do. What have others' experiences been?

There's a link at the bottom of the PinPics page telling you how to earn points (I copied and pasted it here for you :)

Hit and miss on responses for me. Sometimes I hear back from a request, but most of the time I don't. Like you I want to respond to all requests as quickly as I can manage. And I agree with you, seems to be the polite thing to do. That may only be a Texas thing_ we are a friendly bunch here. I keep on sending out my "asks" and figure sooner or later someone will respond! Best of luck.

As for responses , I've had the same problem in the past but I found giving more than one option helps , I look for someone who wants multiple pins I have .
Also I've found I get more responses to requests for recent releases .
Although I should point out I've got my trade assist turned off right now , I got tired of responding no thank you to countless offers of HM / Booster pins for my LE 500 or less pins from people who should know better (I know the PinPics account connects to someone who has been trading for years who obviously is just trying to scam less knowledgeable members)
You might have better luck here , start a personal trading thread and upload images of what you have . When I tried that I managed to set up a dozen trades in a week and everything went smoothly , and that's a pretty good result I'd say :)

So that's why I couldn't trade with you Lol! Anyway, yeah, I figure you'll have the best luck making a trading thread. I haven't ever uploaded all my traders in a thread for trading, but it sounds like a great idea! :3

Does anyone know how often/quickly they update points? I've corrected several SKU lately (straight off of the wrappers of these pins), but I still don't have any points. I mean, that's not the reason I updated them, but still...

Oh, I've never gotten a reply to a trade request on PinPics. By this point I've pretty much stopped trying and just keep it as a personal catalogueof my pin collection.

I've not updated SKU's but assuming it's the same as pictures I'd say between 24-48 hrs depending on how busy they are , new releases and such make more work I assume .

Sorry about that , I don't really have the time or money to trade right now (Work problems) , but hopefully I'll be able to reactivate it soon and if I do I'll shoot you a PM :)

Yeah I get you, even postage in the US stacks up very quickly! It's hard to trade unless it's really worth it. :/

I always respond to TA's via PinPics, to me its a matter of courtesy. I also look at what the comparison program turns up so that I can make a counteroffer in case the original offer is not doable. With postage rates so high nowadays I try to make multiple pin trades whenever possible. It never hurts to come back with a multi-pin offer, it just may work out!!

^^^^ This. I was once the inexperienced trader. Now, I have more pins and more experience, and I'm getting ridiculous trade requests. I tend not to answer trade requests unless they are reasonable. And, unless I want a trade real bad, I usually only finalize a trade if I can trade multiples.

I think once you begin to know certain traders, you can start initiating requests directly, via email. That is most gratifying. For instance, I have one trader-friend in Europe (I'm in the US) who stopped trading on PinPics because of all the ridiculous requests. I can e-mail her a trade offer, and over a period of weeks or months we have been able to work out trades of 25 to 50 pins!!! That's a wonderful "mail day" when those arrive!

Everyone who works behind the scenes at Pinpics is a volunteer.
Some weeks are busier than others and the time it takes to approve
submissions takes longer. Also, besides Pinpics, there are "real jobs",
family, health, and other things that occur normally during life.

I've only done two successful trades on PinPics, but in general I do not very often get responses indeed. I think that quite some users are inactive, and when you are sending out requests for old pins you might have sent it to an inactive account.

I have much more success trading here than on Pinpics. I would guess I get one response from each 10 request I send out on Pinpics.

Pinpics responses are always hit or miss. I'll go through a spell of tons of trades, then nothing for months at a time. However, I never seem to get responses for the really rare pins (older, lower LE, etc). Which, you know, isn't totally unexpected. However I've had better luck when I try to set up a multi trade with people directly through messages rather than through trade assist. So that could be an option too.

But it goes in spells. I do much more of my trades here though. :3
