We were looking for princess costumes and well anything princess basically. Sometimes, they get pins from DLR too. So, I asked her if they would be getting any new pins soon.

CM: "Are you going to the parks soon?"

Me: "Yes, next month, on 24th."

CM:" Oh, then you should get your trading pins on Ebay."

Me: ::disgusted expression:: "But those are fake!!"

CM: "No, they are not. I always get mine on Ebay and I always trade them."

Me: "They are unauthorized. Those come from China."

CM: "Oh, I do not get the Chinese pins."

Me: " ????? Well, all of your pins are made in China, but the big lots on Ebay - when you pay 50-60c per pin, the hidden mickey pins - are usually not authorized by Disney."

At this point, I ramble into a long rant explaining to her the difference about cheap Ebay pins and how 2 guys in LA were caught etc, etc. She was surprised but after a while she lost interest.

I gave her DPF's web address, pinpics address (she had not heard about pinpics) and the date for our TX meeting. Not sure, if she will check us out. She told me "All of us here in this store do pin trading!"

Sad to see that CMs outside the parks have so little info on pins.

Omg, isn't there a way to report her? Like I don't think they are allow to refer to another non-Disney Saler to buy thing that Disney sells...

Not sure if you can report someone for that, after all Disney knows that their pins are being sold on Ebay. I have been told by another CM in WDW to purchase traders on Ebay as well, so I think nobody really cares :(

Are you guys serious? Report her? OMG! Really how about just mentioning in passing to the manager that they should do things differantly opposed to reporting this girl cause she failed to give an answer that was agreeable.

Sorry but unless you have worked for Disney & know there practice of disapline do not report her EDUCATE her like you did with explaining DPF & pinpics.

So sorry everyone but there is no nice way for a Grump to react to this.....

Ps: We would get farther with educating the public on how scrappers hurt our trade & the enjoyment we get when we find a pin we need or want vrs how we feel when we learn it's a fake. I get angree cause we are so ready to jump someone cause they have no clue to pin trading than helping them understand & educating them on sites like DPF & Pinpics.

Again sorry if anyone took offence to my post it wasnt ment to offend but as a former cast member this made me very upset & just as I ranted on unless someone educates you dont know better.

PS again please fix spell check someone,lol...

Sad to hear, but I had the same thing happen at my DS outlet and at MK. I didnt know any better when the CM at MK told me but was suprised once I did find out about the bay! "+1 to educating"

Pft! I've had CMs in the parks try to "educate" me about pins and pin trading (ha), give me misinformation AND not know anything about or have heard about scrappers/counterfeits. Unless Disney gives CMs info or has a class/training when they're first hired in, they aren't going to necessarily know, and of course, that's not THEIR fault.

I agree with you there.

I totally agree that Disney can at least give a short crash course to the CMs in the parks if they opted to wear the lanyard to trade with guests.

However, what surprised and amused me most in this conversation was her statement about not buying Chinese pins. Do they really need to be told that their pins (and most merhcandise sold in Disney Stores) come from China? She was so earnest when she said "I do not buy Chinese pins". I had to try to contain my laughter bursting out.
