2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
When I did the Maleficent Raffle last year I remember they made a point of mixing and grabbing from different places in the bucket, so I am pretty comfortable with my local Disney Store's system. Both me and my guy will be going to the Ariel raffle to increase our chances of getting her, on the off chance we both are called we will only get one though.

I don't have any issue with people who get duplicates, I just wish Disney realized that even collectors often like to get one to open and one to keep mint, or an extra one to give away or sell - and would accommodate the edition size for that. I am still sore that I missed Rapunzel & Flynn by about a day online, and I don't like feeling stressed or upset about collecting, which seems to be happening a lot to folks on here as the rel;eases mount up. I can't say enough how much I loved the villains release, it was easy and fun (and I'm not even that much of a villain fan).

BATB is on the way, I have to see it but I may end up trying to trade it for a Tangled or sell it to get a Tangled set. My LE dolls are mostly Ariel and Rapunzel.

I'm the same way, my collection is mostly Ariel, Rapunzel, Tiana, mulan, Pocahontas and Jasmine;) I love belle to but i have the least of her. I love all the princesses though and that's what most of my collection is. BUT I've been adding to my wreck it ralph collection as well;) I'm adding some of the video game characters to sit on my shelf with WIR

It is still a very sore point with me that the edition sizes for the DFDC dolls was placed at LE 6000 only for each couple. It is almost as if the Disney Store executives that make these decisions really do not know their consumers. I thought it was insane when they had varying edition sizes for the original 2011 Designer Princesses, with three of them only at LE 4000. I was overjoyed when the Designer Villains were made at LE 13,000 - even though that was obviously too many for some of them. And then this year, seemingly prompted by the slower sell-outs of most of the Designer Villains, they made the DFDC dolls LE 6000, even though Ariel and Belle are most clearly two of the most popular princesses in terms of selling power. DFDC Belle and the Beast's rapid sell-out is a sure sign that not enough of those were made. I am one of those collectors that likes to get multiples particular dolls that I really like: one to debox and one to keep mint-in-box, and I agree that the Disney Store really does not seem to recognize that.

I know a designer heroine collection is unlikely, but wouldn't a LE Vanellope be just amazing! I would love to see some younger characters in a Designer style where they were portrayed as teenagers or young adults. Vanellope, Alice, Wendy, Tiger Lily, and Sofia the First ^^

I am on the same page as you for sure. What I am also wondering is if they will be a "part 2 DFDC" next year, and if they do make it will they up the edition size? That would keep the prices of this current collection high, because people would want to complete the set, but there wouldn't be enough of the first set for everyone to have all the couples.

I would still want a part 2 to happen though, I am really sad we didn't get a Cinderella or Aurora set, and I think Frozen's Anna and Elsa need to be made into as many LE, shiny, amazing versions as possible.

I'm curious about the number too!! I've recently just started collecting dolls and I'm starting to learn numbers having significant meaning..so it's making me nervous if the numbers go up or down lol!

If they do part 2 (which may be strongly possible) it's a matter of when! I think they should continue it next year while it's still relevant but up the edition size to maybe 8000? But who knows, they may wait til the next d23 expo. Only time will tell. But if the number goes up the first wave may be even more sought after, but at the same time everyone would have a better shot with the new wave. Another thing that worries me is aside from Aurora, Cinderella and Tiana being in that wave is will Pocahontas and Mulan would be left out in favor of the Frozen princesses in order to keep the same release set of 5 like this year?

@Disneykid85 I'm worried as well! I really hope there's a 2nd part coming next year. My favorite princess is Mulan and I'm really liking Anna & Elsa, but nevertheless I'd be heartbroken if they decided no to do a Mulan & Shang Designer doll set. Perhaps they could do 7 couples, although unlikely, I'm sure they will sell out eventually.

I read somewhere on one of the threads that they are for sure doing the continuation of the line next year and the 5 remaining princesses are Cinderella, Aurora, Tiana, Mulan and Pocahontas. It would really surprise me that they waited an extra year just to pair it up with the expo because it is a continuation of the Fairytale Designer collection, it would be too prolonged to wait 2 years. I can't wait to see them, I really, really want Aurora from the next five and I can't wait to see what they do with Pocahontas.

Awesome! I definitely would love to see how they do Pocahontas and Mulan! I think Mulan and Shang should come with Mulan's helmet that Shang brings back and a sword. If they use elements from OUAT, I'm sold!!!

I'll be really happy if they do it next year..It would make sense to, and just to create something new for the next expo.

They might actually wait until a couple years down the line for the 2nd part....not sure though I know there is a new Disney movie coming out...I thought it was projected for 2018 (but I could be wrong) which would add another new princess to the mix which could open for a 3rd part in the Fairytale Designers (if Disney decides to continue only releasing 5 princesses/princes at a time). But it depends on what this new story will be based on, the movie is titled Moana and it is a Polynesian fairytale! I'm really excited to see that one!!!

Got my blast off email yesterday so hopefully Ill get them by the end of the week. Usually only takes a few days to get to me once they have shipped. cant wait

A CM I talked to when trying to get Belle basically said yes they are doing a second set next year of couples.

I definitely think thy will adjust the edition sizes next year, unless they think they've found the perfect balance. The 13,000 size from the villians was way too big and maybe 6000 is too small for princesses. Maybe 8000 would be better, but they also don't want to get stuck with them. Having less available makes us want them more. Anyways, it'll be fun to see what they come up with.

I'm very excited thy are continuing the line. I hope next years set is just as beautiful. I especially want to see what they do with Sleeping Beauty. I'm also curious if the romantic embroidery look will translate well with the less girly princesses. I have no idea what they will do with Pocahontas.

Ooooooooo! A Polynesian fairytale? Oh my gosh so exciting! I've been waiting for Disney's next non-European fairytale. I'm very excited! I hope this means in the future they will do an African fairytale too. I have always liked African stories. I also want to see some of my other favorite European tales, but I definitely want Disney to keep mixing things up.

I think I might have read the same thing too. No idea where to find it. But I thought it had things planned out along the lines of "Frozen", three years later and then "New Princess Movie", and then three years later and "Another New Princess Movie". And, within each three years they had non princess movies planned out.
I really love the idea of a Polynesian Princess. I mean, come on, there are still royals in Hawaii and there is an entire island that is exclusively theirs. And then all of their beautiful heritage and deities, I would love what they come up with.
I would love love LOVE to see princesses that fall out of the normal princess formula become the company goal. A plus size princess, a bald princess, maybe one with butterfly wings, or even one that has green skin with red hair that is the princess of the roses or something. ;)

Lol, Tinker your ideas are awesome. I'd love a plus sized princess. Not crazy about the winged idea because them there winged folk are fairies. ;). We've already got us lots of fairies. What about an alien princess? Or a fawn/centaur princess. I think, however, I prefer regular girls as princesses in general.

So many doll ppossibilities for the future!

I found this article!!

[h=4]Moana (March 9, 2018)[/h]Next comes the return of the famous Disney directing duo Ron Celements and John Musker with Moana. This film is a Polynesian story that follows island inhabitants and tiki idols “made famous the world over.” This very much gives an Enchanted Tiki Room vibe and could be a potential tie-in to that ride and the parks. The style of this film’s animation is unknown, but it will either be their first CGI film or a CGI/2D hybrid much like the short Paperman.
Honestly, this film has me the most excited! Lilo & Stitch gave us a teeny hint of Polynesian culture (however, that film was a bit more modern and western), but an entire film devoted to this culture? Yes! really love the idea of a tiki idol character or plot because it just all seems very Disney-esque to me and that this film will fit in perfectly with the rest of the Disney canon.

If it's a FOR SURE thing and the directors of Little Mermaid come to get together and do it again I'll be SOOO happy :) haha but yes there soooo many possibilities! :stitch:

As long as they don't change the Tiki Tiki Room song and show. I love that room more than ANYTHING at Disney and I was heartbroken when it was "Under New Ownership" with the horrible Iago and ZaZu show. I love the original Tiki birds song.

Not sure how I feel about that name Moana. Makes me think of a cutesy horror type film like Paranorman

Anyone know the story/myth this would be based on?

I googled Moana. It seems it is primarily pronounced Mo-ah-na and means "ocean" in Polynesian. Also, a sea god is called Moana.

Kind of interesting: Armstrong Sperry wrote a book called Call It Courage. It won a Newbery Medal. It is about a 12 year old boy, Mafatu, whose mom is killed by a hurricane--the boy becomes afraid of the ocean, which shames his father, the chieftan. The boy goes off and experiences many adventures and overcomes his fear of the water. Moana sounds like a scary entity in the book; he has murdered Mafatu's mom and tried to kill him too.

Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color did an episode in 1973 on this story.

Not sure if this is the inspiration for the upcoming animated movie or not. Sounds kind of dark. One way or the other, I want to find a copy of the book and read it now. :) Another article claims there will be talking Tiki heads a la Easter Island. Hmmm.

Note: Just read an article that claims it will be a musical and is an original concept, not adapted from any existing story. Guess Call It Courage is out. Still going to read it.

Yes! I cannot wait for them to come out! I will definitely make sure to pre-order the whole set of those--there is no way I'm going to miss out on getting those lovely ladies and their princes!

Hi everyone, just trying to calculate shipping costs from US to Australia, was wondering if anyone could let me know how heavy the designer fairytale dolls are in pounds? It generally tells you on your UPS tracking details. I am assuming that each set is different with some weighing more than others? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I went back to double check and one doll comes out to 4.90lbs. As you said this can vary a bit due to packaging. I hope this helps :)

I am really excited for the next set and am daydreaming about the various possibilities of their clothing. I would love for Aurora to have a blue dress and I am hoping they put Pocahontas in a ceremonial outfit. That would look amazing!! ♥
