For the line next year (doesn't really matter to me what it is called) I would most like to see these characters:

1. Anna
2. Elsa
3. Kida
4. Sally

I would definitely buy all four of these (which would be the most I've ever bought from one Designer line). I also think these characters should be included as well:

5. Merida
6. Esmerelda
7. Megara
8. Jane

While I think it would be nice for Alice and Wendy to be included, they would be the only children and as a result wouldn't fit into the collection as well. They would probably have to do what they did with 17" Alice. I'd rather see them have their own line where other child characters could be included such as Vanellope.

Elsa would obviously be the D23 exclusive since she's the most popular. Elsa and Anna would have the highest edition sizes, then Sally and Merida would have the next highest, then Esmerelda and Megara, and Kida and Jane would have the lowest.

I am really fond of the fairytale designer line. I find it so romantic ♥♥
For this year, I really love Cinderella. She is really re-designed, with this beautiful dress not entirely blue (thanks goodness !) and a right hair color.
I am not a fan of Cinderella but as Snow White last year, this design is perfect to me ♥
I like the Briar Rose & Phillip couple, more simple than the other, but it feels like a rendez-vous in the middle of the wood. I really like Aurora face and hair ♥
I am a little disappointed with Tiana, I was looking fot it whatever the outfit because I haven't any Tiana's doll...but her face looks kinda sad (and OMG, what have they done to Naveen T_T).
I like Mulan's outfit, Shang is really like the movie...but something bothers me with Mulan's mouth :s
My least favourite is Pocahontas, she looks like she's wearing rags ^^" But her face is really beautiful, and John Smith is really like the movie too.
I can't wait to see them in real, as for the first serie, I was planning to buy maybe three couples and ending with all ^^

For next year, I wonder what Disney would make. I definitively see Elsa Designer...but in a Frozen serie ? I really don't see Disney making heroines, it is too risky for this company XD
I just hope they will not release again something about the 10 Princesses of the line...it would be a real overdose to me.
(I would like they will not release anything, because I want to search some of the first princesses but it is very unlikely with the next D23 Expo).

PS : I am sorry for my bad English, I hope it is understandable.

I think Disney will do a heroine line next featuring Elsa, Anna and Merida. It only makes sense. Merida has yet to have a designer doll and there is no way they won't make designer versions of Anna and especially Elsa. And being a D23 year they will do a D23 exclusive Elsa doll. The track record is pretty good. People wanted villains they released villains. People wanted the princes they released the fairy tale couples. A heroine line is constantly being thrown around and they have 3 popular official/soon to be official princesses to include to headline it. If they do another princess line people will just get annoyed.

As far as what other characters to include Esmeralda and Megara both come to mind instantly. Both were included early on in the princess line but eventually dropped. Still both have decent fan bases and are popular amongst Disney fans. I think both would making stunning dolls. I also think Alice would definitely be included. Her 17 inch doll is so coveted and she is a very popular and iconic character for the company. Wendy is a maybe but she usually gets overshadowed by Alice and Tink. I think Jane could be included as well. I think Meg and Esmeralda may be more well known and popular but Tarzan was a pretty big hit when it came out and it is still a fairly popular film.

I doubt Eilonwy or Kida will be included. Kida is a really big maybe but Eilonwy is a definite no. Sally and Jessica Rabbit are also good choices and could potentially be lovely dolls. There is also Honey Lemon from Big Hero Six. Depending on that films success she could be included as well. I dunno if they would do Lilo, Nani, Vanellope, and Caulhoun. I think:

1. Elsa- 6,000
2. Anna- 6,000
3. Merida- 6,000
4. Alice- 4,000
5. Megara- 4,000
6. Emeralda- 4,000
7. Sally- 2,000
8. Jessica Rabbit- 2,000
9. Honey Lemon- 2,000
10. Jane - 2,000

Disney is not a risk adverse company, we saw them take the risk with the Deisnger villains and then again with the LE Eric doll so I definitely see them giving a leading ladies/heroines line a go. Also having characters like Anna, Elsa and Merida in there will help sell the line and whilst they are princesses they are also strong female figures so can easily fit in the line.

also whilst I love the idea of a d23 Elsa there is a chance this may not be the case I mean the first was Silver Comderella followed by Golden Snow both of whom are not the most popular of characters within their respective lines. If they were going by popularity during those times we would have seen a d23 exclusive Ariel or Rapunzel by those standards. So at this rate the D23 exclusive would still be up in the air as to who it would be and how they would be featured. But yes I do agree that Elsa would be a forerunner for this spot as would Be the case for Anna too.

Personally I don't see them doing 10 dolls again as that would be too big a line that would result in them including characters that may not sell as well. I think if they were to do the line just doing the characters who are more popular and well recognized would be the way to go. Because then they could balance their obscurity with the release of the three princesses Anna, Elsa and Merida intertwined amongst the non-princesses. Also as I have said before if they are able to make their dolls amazing then it shouldn't matter at all who the character is because people will buy it because of the way it looks as opposed to who it is. I just think for Disney it would be a good idea to have a smaller line with only characters that are identifiable such as the core three Meg, Esmerelda and Alice or Jane as opposed to having 10 just to fit everyone in the line because doing that will just be like them making dolls for the sale of making them as opposed to putting any thought into it.

Hey guys, so I went to ikea today and I bought a display shelf. And while I was setting up my vinylmations I remembered that I had my sister's designer ariel (safe keeping) and I wanted to see what the display shelf would look like and it did not disappoint. I'm sure you can fit 5-6 designer dolls on each shelf. Here's a picture:

I could *almost* see Disney waiting until 2017 to do a heroines line and having an early release Moana doll, like the November Frozen girls and Zarina. I'm not sure if she has a love interest but they could do a line of the other heroines with her. I do think that Alice is a must for the designer line simply because there is already a Queen of Hearts, and people would buy her just to have a set.

I think I figured out what exactly I don't like about Aurora and Pocahontas. They did Pocahontas in a short dress with no shoes, they could have easily done the same for Aurora. As for Pocahontas, she looks like a hipster with that crazy headband and all the fringe. Also, Pocahontas' animator doll manages to look serious and beautiful like Pocahontas, but they can't even make the adult look serious.

I do wish they gave both Aurora and Ariel shorter dresses and even Rapunzel! If they can give Pocahontas a short accurate dress then don't see why they can't for the others who have shorter dresses. But oh well I love them anyway.

2017 is still 3 years away and whilst I think it a great idea to include Moana in the line I think it would be suicide for the designer line for them to wait this long before doing newer characters. Also with the designer line it has always been based on previous characters as opposed to upcoming ones. I mean even Merida, Anna and Elsa were shafted from the line last year in Merida's case she was already released and yet they didn't include her. The problem with releasing a character this early as a doll is that people will not know how they feel about the character and this happened with Anna and Elsa where it resulted in a positive outcome or Zarina where it did not do as we'll because people just didn't know who she was or how they would feel about her.

I guess for these Disney dolls the fact that they are based on popular characters as with everything will have positives and negatives. In this case the positive is that it will be based on popular characters meaning that the dolls could potentially be timeless at the same time though if the character is not very popular it can result in the doll not doing as well as originally intended.

Merida & Elsa are easily my two favourite girls. I haven't been happy with how any of them look so far but I guess they are relatively new characters compared to the others

You haven't been happy with how the LE Elsa and Meridas looked? I'd say those and Anna have the most accurate dolls out of the line up! Now Cinderella and belle are another story none of their dolls have looked like them. I'm excited to see a designer Elsa I just hope it's not crazy hard to get.
And I agree with Polaris theirs no way they should wait till 2017, they might not be making designer dolls by then. Could be onto a new collection.

If they ever have to do the princess's again I would like to them in modern day clothes inspired by their old looks. Like fashion dolls.

I think if Disney does a Designer Elsa she could easily be LE 15000 and still sell out briskly and not lose any of the "specialness" of being a LE. If Disney does another low LE Elsa it would be a real shame as many fans will miss out and many scalpers will win out.

This is a good point but I don't think Disney likes to increase the size of their items too much, as we saw last year even with Ariel being a "popular" princess they only increased her by an additional 1,000 compared to the previous princesses. I would probably see Elsa reaching the 8,000 or 10,000 mark at most. I think Disney is scared to go over the 10,000 mark because of how slow sales went with the Designer Villains. Also don't forget that 10,000 is a lot to sell, even for Elsa and I highly doubt Disney will give her an edition size lower than 6,000. Even with 6,000 it would still take at least 20 minutes for her to sell out, I think the main thing people need to realise as well is that the longer Disney leaves out characters like Merida, Anna and Elsa from the line the less hype around them there will be, therefore whilst Elsa is popular now you can rest assured that probably half of the Elsa fans will probably move on by next year, especially those who are just fans because of their children.

Also it is foolish to think that increasing the edition size will stop scalpers from buying the dolls because they will always be there, it is just part of the collecting industry. You will find though that for items that are generally 1,500 and up so long as if you are online and ready by release time you have a good chance at getting the dolls especially since Disney limits people to only buying one doll at a time so that does help as well. I noticed that the only reason why scalpers always have the upper hand on some collectors is that they stay well informed about these releases, I mean how is it possible that one scalper is able to buy so many dolls and yet a collector is unable to even buy one? So really it is the collector's who miss out fault because they are not prepared for the releases, increasing edition sizes is just an excuse for collectors who miss out to just keep blaming others rather than doing something to prepare for the next release.

Unfortunately nowadays hypes come and go very quickly due to the increase in technology and how easily available everything is nowadays. So whilst Elsa will always have a following not everyone will always be willing to fork up hundreds of dollars for just one item because it has Elsa on it.

I remember Disney hypes being crazy when I was younger haha, especially for birthday parties. I remember when Pocahontas came out it was really big for themed parties and all the gifts were Pocahontas toys, and before that it was the Lion King and so forth. As soon as the next movie is out then the hype moves to that.

Now, as for this years collection, I hope they announce the release date soon! I want to get ready for them and also maybe pick up a Cindy mug and journal when the merch comes out

Lol I remember this! When Pocahontas came out I was all about Pocahontas. When it was Hunchback of Notre Dame it was all about that. And my friends were the same way. Lol good times.

I remember it too, just about every Disney Movie was the big event of the year. I had a Roger Rabbit themed party naturally lol The big difference between Hunchback and Pocahontas and other hyped movies is that they didn't rake in the money and become the Huge hit Frozen has. I never really liked the logic if its a hit movie it gets a big push- look how big Nightmare Before Christmas became After Disney really pushed the characters. When that movie came out it was not a hit, and was considered only a cult classic. It was rare to see anything of them for years. So, if Disney kept pushing Pocahontas and it's characters, maybe they'd be more well received and popular too. If they are let to fade from people's memory, then they won't be as popular, period. I Doubt they would wait until 2017 to make more Designer Dolls. I can potentially seem them doing Anna and Elsa dolls separate - like they did for Tink and Zarina - a one off set. People mad a big stink about Merida's makeover, so I'm not sure how she will fit her in the Designer line, but it seems people have calmed down from that, and I think if they stick to making her a nice cool dress, people won't complain. Since they took the Designer line out further from what it started as, I guess they can take it anywhere they want to. Next year instead of Designer Fairytale it can be Designer Whatever. I can see them doing Princesses again - hopefully not next year though.

It wouldn't surprise me tbh if they did Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Hans as designer dolls next year! Seeing how popular the movie is. I do hope they give us some girls that don't get much attention though. I would love a Meg! I do really want a Elsa designer but not if it's super crazy to get as it isn't worth the hassle IMO.

So I think it would be really coll if they did a Designer Elsa and Hans set where she is on the ground and he has the sword, but I don't know how that would look in doll form.

I completely agree with everything you said. It would be nice to see Disney put ignored characters/movies back into the spotlight.

I love Cinderella, she is beautiful! (She is my fave Princess though!).
I find it so interesting how everybody has such different tastes. I think its a shame they can never quite capture Tiana as a character (with regards to her face mould).

A designer Meg would be amazing, Esmeralda too.

I love Princess and the Frog, but I agree that I hate how Disney dolls make her look. I actually found this earlier (when looking up pics of her LE 17" doll) and although her eyes and eyebrows are a little bit harsh (needs to be a bit more sweet looking like she does in the movie), I think ultimately she looks pretty good!

Personally, if Disney made a doll that looked like those ones, especially that blue dress one, I'd be all over it like white on rice.

I love the Ashton Drake version of Tiana ! Her face is really more accurate than the Disney Store one. I wish I had the Bayou one ♥♥ (the accessories are in metal : crown and necklace).
