2014 Designer Dolls - Fairytale Collection Part II

I would assume so if that's the same time you bought the previous ones at. The site refreshes with new products at 12AM California time. I'm fairly close to Montreal so I'm in the same timezone and I order at 3AM. It's fun, isn't it Glad more Canadians are joining though- let's all bother Disney for cheaper shipping methods, yeah? lol

I really cannot for the life of me decide if I want to get Aurora or not- I like her face and the top part of her dress, but from the waist down it's awful, and I don't like Prince Phillip that much (anybody else think that the Prince from the Snow White doll looks more like Phillip than his actual doll?). On the other hand, I don't have an Aurora or Briar Rose in my collection and I do like Sleeping Beauty. When I get Cinderella, I'll have doubles of her, Rapunzel, Belle, and Jasmine from the 2011 designer series and then the Fairytale collection ones. I guess you can tell my favourites, eh?

What's it like getting these online for UK customers? The frozen ones went crazy, and I want to go to te store to get these, but I have a feeling my local branch will tell me not to come in again! With the frozen ones I went on the website at 6 and they came up at 8, but is there a better way?

Snow White, Jasmine and Rapunzel last year were easy to get in the UK. Lasted weeks. I'm guessing they will sell out quicker this year especially Aurora and Cinderella.
I'm just worried that Cinderella comes out the same day as Aurora and Maleficent. I'm trying online and maybe in store and can just see the site crashing

Luna_Ray I actually really like Phillip, I wasn't sure at first but I love him in the new picture. He's very handsome. I think Snows Prince looks more like himself than Phillip both of these are my favourite prince dolls. I think Cinderella's prince is abit weird/ugly looking though.

I'm not in the UK but I did watch online as last year's Fairytale set was released and also with both releases of the Frozen dolls. First of all, I think the Frozen dolls are a bit of an exception because of the merchandise frenzy going on right now, it's hard to really get anything Frozen related without it selling out. That said, I think you have a fair chance of getting the Fairytale dolls. Call your store and see if they're getting them in and if so, what the procedure for obtaining one is (is it a first come, first serve, certain place to line up, etc). The store will appreciate it more if the customers are organized and it's more fair and overall easier for the customers too. If you're purchasing online then I would advise you to go online a bit early (assuming they don't accidentally post them early to the rest of Europe like the March Frozen dolls), like 15-20 minutes or so and get set up and prepared. The fairytale line isn't as popular as Frozen merchandise right now, and as this is the second set, it's the less popular characters being released. Just make a game plan and stick to it and you should be fine worst comes to worst, if you wait a little while after they come out, the resellers on ebay will probably drop their prices close enough to retail that you should be able to get one at a decent price (looking up ones from last year on ebay, I think Rapunzel and Belle are the most expensive, and even not too outrageous considering the original price). I'm sure things will go fine online or in store though. Good luck!

I think Prince Charming's face looks a little off (love that outfit though!), but Cinderella really seals it for me. They could throw a stick or like a Groot action figure in there for all I care- her dress is so perfect that I'm absolutely getting her, no doubts about it!

What day is LE Aurora going to be released? Is it October 7th? I recall last year Belle came out at the same time as the pre-ordered Ariel and then the "surprise" released Ursula and Eric, BUT the online orders were not on the same day. The Belle and Beast set came out online the day after the Little Mermaid LE collection. I think in store they were all released at the same time (I'm fuzzy on this though because I was only getting the Belle set, not any of the Little Mermaid dolls). I'm sure the stores will be prepared for it though and allow those in line to purchase either the Cinderella and/or the Sleeping Beauty dolls. I would assume they would do it first come first serve, and maybe hand out vouchers, so they would go down the line and you could just take the vouchers for the dolls you wanted to buy. I know that's what they did for the 2011 line when they released the last 5 in stores. But again, call up your local store a bit before the release and ask how they're handling it so you can prepare. I don't see why you can't get all the dolls you want as long as you prepare for it

Was the price difference between the US dolls and UK price so huge with the last set of designer couples? There is a 30 pound/50 dollar price difference.

The fairytale dolls were the same price last year £100. Other merchandise is usually the pins, lithographs and tshirts, makeup bags etc

It depends on the market too, I think. Canadian items are always priced a bit higher because we have a much smaller population than the US and our dollar is not as strong. It's not as big of a difference as the UK price, but I'm just saying it might be why the UK pays more in general.

Based on the blog I would say definitely a Briar Rose tshirt. Usually they come out with some tshirts or clothing, and I believe they've released compact mirrors (2011 Snow White), scarves, bags (like clutches and makeup bags), annd nail polish before too I guess it'll be a surprise, but there's usually lots of variety!

Definitely getting Cinderella and still on the fence about Mulan. I really wished I liked Briar Rose but I really dislike the floral print and the cat face on her corset so I'll probably pass..

Oct 7 will be crazy though! SB pick-up and possible surprise release and raffle for Cinderella a couple of hours later.. Oy vey! :anxious:

The full pictures of the Cinderella and Mulan sets are just perfect. September and October are so crowded for release dates though! So many things come out those months. I hope I can afford them as well as Maleficent.

They always have journals, mugs, nail polish, lip gloss, lithographs, and shirts. I don't remember about the first designer release but the villains and last years designer line had a purse and make up bag.

I know they didn't, I was mentioning the 2011 Designer Snow White compact mirror they released, and I believe there was one with the designer villains released in 2012.

There should also be a note card set coming out, but in terms of all the merchandise coming out, I don't think we'll really know what all they're including/not including until the collection releases on September 2nd

I just did a couple of quick comparisons online, and I actually find this phillip to be very movie accurate.
I think the reason why people think he's different is because of his slicked back hair. In the movie, he doesn't have it that way.
Either way, I think you should definitely get it, because I don't think you'll ever see another LE Briar Rose. And also keep in mind that these dolls always look much better in person. So honestly... I say get the set!

Cinderella's prince bothers me... The difference between the art and the actual doll is jarring....
I think the set would look better if Cinderella didn't have that sassy sultry look on her face. It just doesn't fit. It's like the prince is the geeky nerd who goes to prom with the most popular cheerleader in the school. :lol:

But the dress is just beyond comparable to anything that Disney has put out (12" dolls). And I'm glad that she didn't get a very stylized necklace. The one she has on now is perfect.

There was a compact with the villains. I know Ursula and the Queen of Hearts was on it. I thought there was another villain on it but I don't remember, I never got it.

I forgot about the note cards.

From the preview, it looks like the t-shirt will be one of the $19 tees instead of the $35-$40 ones which is nice.

That is the only reason I am considered getting the Briar Rose doll. I can't wait to see her in person because I am on the fence about them. I did manage to snag the LE Aurora doll if I really hate the designer BR in person.

I was going to try to get the Cinderella set, but then when I looked at closer pictures online, and actually stared at the picture, I realized that. . It's really a shame, because her dress is gorgeous. I've seen other LE dolls that have the crazy long eyelashes, but they didn't have this, like, I don't know, 'come hither' look or something. I think it might have something to do with the way her eyes are positioned. Anyways, I think I'll just get the mug and maybe the journal, instead, since I think I like the concept art for the Cinderella set much better than the actual dolls. Sigh. . At least I'll still be able to enjoy her gorgeous dress, and she has a sweet look on her face in the concept art.

I love Aurora as Briar Rose, so I definitely am going to get the Briar Rose set. And you're right. We'll probably never see a LE Briar Rose doll again.
Hmmm...note cards? I may have to get those. . Anyone know how much they cost last time and how many notecards to a box there were? The Briar Rose shirt is tempting too. Far too many choices, not near enough money.

OH MY GOD- it's the hair! That's what it is! Arggghhh I seriously would stare at him and be like, well the face looks fairly good, but something about him seems really off... You just saved me a lot of aggravation trying to figure out what was bothering me haha! And gosh darn, I'm trying to save money here lol but I know it's more annoying to want a doll and have to buy it on the secondary market if you miss out on buying it. I also know that the dolls look so much better in person than online. I suppose I could always sell my DFDC Ariel. I've asked for the Cinderella for a belated birthday gift. Only issue is I wanted to hold onto Ariel to trade in case I couldn't get a Cindy or Aurora. Guess ow I have some decisions to make :lol:
