2017 PTD Discussion Thread - UPDATED 11/28/17
I needed it for my collection - I'd been waiting nearly a year for this pin to finally be released and was really excited about a pin of a rare Wonderland character - so I took back the first less damaged one which has a black paint spot/mark in the middle of its face that won't come off. Stupid but since I'd already paid for gas and parking, I didn't want to leave empty-handed when I can't afford to spend more gas and parking money to go back again tomorrow to potentially wind up with one that's even worse.
Eventually I expect I'll get my hands on a better one but in the meantime I had an unpleasant experience just getting a flawed one. But as I tried to warn here - the alternate one I was offered was in far worse shape.
Thanks for the suggestion but I think a friend may have gotten an extra they're going to trade me so I'll have a good one for my collection. You could try taking a bit of acetone on a q-tip to it and leaving it there for 10 seconds if it's from screen printing. That's what doll people do. I don't think 10 seconds would damage the enamel underneath. I would try it on a scrapper first though.

As I was told - for ptds you get one choice for a substitute and that's it. :/Sweet! I'm happy you got your perfect pin. I thought DSF had a two pin option for exchange, so I find it weird they only showed you one.

This has been happening for a while. When people say they don't like the flip, is it because of the characters, the artwork, the LE sizes or what? I'm curious because I think this is a good flip. There's a Wonderland character (and they are popular) and two characters who almost never get pins and these are nice ones of them. So I don't understand it. Does no one want people who collect more obscure characters to get to add to their collections? For the record I don't collect any of these, but I'm glad that people who do are able to get them. Does everyone want nothing but Ariel and Rapunzel pins? Why are people happy with "popular" characters even when the artwork is bad?

There is also just standard trade value too. Though, you're perfectly right get in saying that monetary resell value (which now frequently dictates trade value) is the real deciding factor.I think a lot of it, unfortunately, has to do with the "resale value" of the pins. There just isn't a demand for Home on the Range or Mr. Toad pins, and nor is there a strong enough presence of "obscure character collectors" to warrant a different type of popularity. Popularity = $$$, and there certainly is a strong presence of people in the pin trading community who place emphasis on the dollar value of a pin over anything else.

His ice cream might be spilt/tipped over like other villains.I am so hoping for a Headless Horseman PTD in an upcoming flip, but I'm also questioning how he would eat his ice cream.
