2018 Pin Releases
I'm not sure what reality has to do with Wonderland anyway.Just a public service announcement that I, apparently, will never be a “real” Alice collector. And I don’t care.
Oh. The pin is really pretty. I love the text on the front and how the background mimics the plate patern's colors.
The Mickey Donut is also super surprising in what people are asking. Maybe park pins are just getting more popular...For the record it's not the just the windows of evil that have gone nuts. I wondering why the Cheshire Cat Latte pin is so high ? I bought one extra as a trader because I know so many Cheshire collectors, but it's all but gone from a certain auction site, and the ones hanging around are being listed for 50-60 bucks!
Opposite of Japan, you actually have to win to get the game pins. As my friend told me, you pay for the game card which gives you the chaser(s) pin(you can only buy two of the chasers) with a certain amount of plays and then you play the games for the other pins, you can play and win as many pins as you want outside the chaser pins. I don't think these have a chaser in this set.Ok, I pride myself in knowing a lot about pins, but somehow "Hong Kong game pins" have slipped my radar. Does it work like Japan? Where they are prizes for losing the carnival style games? How much does each game cost?
<-- Going to be in Hong Kong in May
That's a great price, I paid 95 for mine!
Us locals would hope park pins get more popular for trading purposes, but you know how that goes....wait 6 months or a year and see how popular, usually I get "I've got that already, any latest greatest, WDI, or some DSSH/DSF?"The Mickey Donut is also super surprising in what people are asking. Welp I was going to see if I could work out some trades for some windows and maybe buy the ones that I haven't gotten yet online. But seeing those prices... YIKES! I mentally valued them the same as the Essence of Evil that came out here, but apparently some disagree. And there is no way I'm spending $60 bucks minimum on one pin.
I can't stand how people drive up the prices of small bits of metal that much for no reason other than that they're popular. Like, yes, you want to profit, but the pins are, what, twenty bucks to begin with? I kind of went off about this in the Pin You'll Never Get thread about the Rapunzel Reveal/Conceal I found for $8,000 but like... stop. You're a real collector if you collect. That's it. Don't be a jerk.
Signed, a villains collector with zero (0) villains WDI profiles.

I've been in Disney trading for almost 6 years now. Lurking more than actually trading/collecting over the past few years but this has always happened. When I got into pin trading, Tangled was the hot pins. People would pay big bucks for Tangled but things didn't really get crazy until Frozen. Once Frozen came out, it seemed like all pin prices got jacked up. Things seemed to settle down for a bit after the Frozen craze died down but it seems like pin trading is really starting to become pin collecting. I see a lot of people willing to buy pins instead of trying to trade for them. Building good traders costs as much as building your collection. If you aren't near one of the parks, it doesn't make much sense to really get into trading unless you like it. In my experiences, collectors are different from traders. Collectors have two sets of people in them, 1) people who love whatever they are collecting and do it for fun and 2) People who know they can make a lot of money by building a collection and selling it.I definitely don't need at $650 pin to think of myself as a "real" Ariel collector. That's how I feel most people see my collection, because I don't want any Gomes or the BT. My #3 that I traded for a while back would be risible in some pin groups, but I think it's the 3rd prettiest pin in existence.
I also see a lot of people that have come into pin trading the past 5 years or so that want to make up for lost time and buy whatever they can at whatever price. They're also the fastest to pull the "your pin is a fake" trigger. I never used to have that problem, but now I've had it happen to my sister on a WDI pin I bought for her at Destination D. I had to find the reciept for my sister while she was trying to placate the buyer. I just hope it doesn't get so bad that all the experienced pin traders up and leave. Their collections collecting dust in an attic.

Has Disney not yet made a china set that's the design from Beauty and the Beast? I imagine that'd be something people would buy.
