A very troublesome Pinpics trade

I do not trade much anymore because most of my wants are in the hands of traders that started to long ago and they prefer to sell their pins if and when exiting the hobby. So, major part of my desired pins come from purchases.

It is really rare for me to trade via Pinpics and lately I had bad experience. Last month, I had to file my first Pinpics complaint because the other trader kept dragging with excuse after excuse. Finally, I got my PoDM pin back, but I was out of postage.

Now, something else happened that really discourages me. I think I just need to vent, that is all. But, I am also wondering how do you guys deal with these mishaps.

Here is the original offer I got:

********** offers Merryweather this pin: Pin 87318 (DSF - Halloween 2011 - Jessica Rabbit)
In return for one of these pins:
Pin 80415 (DisneyStore.com - Jessica Rabbit Costume Series - Vampire)

The other trader sent his pin (after I did mine) and it came yesterday. But it was the wrong pin.

I got Pin 87678: DSF - Thanksgiving 2011 - Jessica.

When I contacted him, to tell he sent the wrong pin, here is the reply I got:

Uggh .... I did not offer the pin, you did dude And why would you offer me a pin that you don't have??

Now, I will have to return his pin and I am out of postage twice !!! Once to send him Vampire Jessica and once to return his pin. Granted, these things happen, and it is "occupational hazard' but even then I do not like it.

Moreover, I know that this sounds crazy, but I really do hope that I will get back the *exact* pin I sent. Because I do see the vampire Jessica being sold plenty on Ebay and it appears from one questionable seller quite often. So, there might be bad versions out there and I am really hoping that the other trader will return my pin and not a questionable Ebay copy.

Thoughts ??

I know I have had mix ups on pinpics. Mostly for me it was people offering to trade for something that I don't have anymore because it hadn't updated my page even after doing so. As for issue it's hard to say. There's a big difference between Halloween and thanksgiving. I'd say go with your gut feeling but don't worry or act until your pin is in your hands. Sometimes people make mistakes and sometimes you deal with slithering jerk face shark.

I always think the best of people, but when I'm screwed, I don't let it lie. If he doesn't return your exact pin, I would threaten (and actually do) reporting him for mail fraud. That usually "encourages" people to do the right thing. He probably made an innocent mistake, though. Crossing fingers...

Yes, i can see that happening. In fact it happened to me few times too.

But in this case, the other person initiated the trade by offering me a pin he does not have. However, his e-mail response turns the tables on me and he is trying to make it look like I initiated the trade. That is why I am a bit uneasy.

I'm sorry this happened to you. But I would be grateful that they are willing to send your pin back! They could always just disappear on you and leave you stuck with a pin you didn't want and out your pin.

Perhaps he was looking at the Pinpics page for Vampire Jessica, and clicked on "What could I trade to get this pin?". Then Pinpics gave him a list of pins he could trade for the Vampire Jessica. This could be what he is referring to as "it was being offered".

I don't blame you... It sound a little fishy to me. Definitely ask Hume to send postage to return his pin. Do Not send his pin back until you get yours. HE initiated the trade, not you.
