Until pin trading gets back to the core of actually trading for fun instead of profit it seems like more and more people will sell of their traders. Since I don't live near a park I have to get my trading fix any way I can. I am sorry but buying pins is not as much fun as trading. So I will still be trading until I can't do it any longer because I am so decrepit I can't get the pin backs off. There is just something special about trading you can't get any other way. Big trades are a blast to pull off.
Don't forget pin trading is supposed to be fun.
You two are awesome!!! :bigthumb:Yes! I agree with David ... not gonna quit pin trading until I'm too old to understand what they are . I've been collecting for 28 years or so and I've been trading for almost 14 years. I love "meeting" people through pin trading and I've made some FANTASTIC friends through this mad-cap hobby! I've seen the ebb and flow of trading and it seems to be on the "slow down" mode again. BUT I have faith that it will come back around again! I didn't trade for almost 2 years while having serious health issues and didn't purchase or acquire any newer pins for more like 3-4 years. When I was finally able to get back to Disneyland (I live in Northern California), my pins were much more interesting to traders. I was stunned ... I thought to myself "they're old," but lots of people were interested in what I had to trade lol! Many of the OE pins I collected a while back have NOT been remade by Disney ... guess that's why some people find them more interesting. I miss Disney Auctions and the GOOD days of DisneyShopping.com! but I'm gonna hang in here for a while longer :x: . Wishing you all the best luck in whatever you decide to do! Take care, *bjr

I don't come around much, but I still peek in every once in awhile. I'll say that I've been on the fence and toyed with the idea as well during this lull. I just can't pull the trigger!! I blame people like David and the Pin Fairy Godmother!
I've just got a bunch of traders that just aren't doing anything. It's sad really what this has become. If anyone wants to trade, please hit me up.
I think at this point it's just quite difficult for all around. For instance, I consider myself a collector not a trader. This distinction, however, is not necessarily by choice. I've just never really been able to amass a good group of traders. It's hard to rationalize buying a pin to trade with someone when I could just buy the pin in the first place. I don't like that mentality but some of the trading has gotten so cutthroat lately (the selling has too but I try to hold off for decent deals). I wish I was able to trade more and maybe with expanding my collection a bit I will. The first step is to try and get some traders though. Decent traders as opposed to grails. I like to pick up other people's grails when I can though
A lot of it for me is about the thrill of the hunt! Whether it's by trading or buying, the exciting part for me is tracking down pieces to a set and helping others do the same. Making friends and finding a pin family is part of what this is all about right? It's about the journey to the great collection and the memories made along the way.
