Ok So... wayyyyyy back in the day (think like 2002 to 2004ish) I saw these ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS music boxes in the World of Disney Store at DLR:

(sidenote: these are "borrowed" pics, so sorry if they are not the best of quality, but hopefully these summarize how gorgeous these boxes are)

[/IMG]

Prolly my fav one, even though I am an Ariel collector ^^; YES TO THE BLUE DRESS!!!

[/IMG]

2nd fav bc of the Curly Hill on the inside

[/IMG]
Actually has "Part of Your World" as the song instead of "Under the Sea" GOOD! LOL

[/IMG]
Love the details of Neverland on it :3

Sooooo at the time I discovered these I could not afford them... I believe they were... $70ish each??? (I'm pretty sure these were at World of Disney when I was in high school). So I wrote them off as not being able to afford them at that time.

Some time had passed and I eventually found a job, so I tried to look for these again at World of Disney. And what do ya know they were sold out of course  I tried searching for them online and could not find them (I didn't even think to look for them via Ebay at the time; wasn't familiar w/ it back then).

SOOOOO tonight I had the random epiphany to search them online via Ebay (as I now stalk many Disney items on the Bay daily :lol annnnnd low and behold... ALL OF THEM ARE ON EBAY!!!!

Butttttt... they're all between $200 to $300 A PIECE!!!!!!! :shock::eek2::ugh::facepalm::banghead::cry:

So my questions are... really...? Are they all really worth THAT much now?! I mean... they're THAT valuable? I understand that they are hand crafted/painted but GOOD GRIEF!!!! >____<

Does anyone own one and would be willing to post a small video about it?? Like to show the details of the box, how the song it plays sounds, etc.? I'm really contemplating maybe saving up one day and buying at least one for myself... but not 100% sure which one... they're all SOOO nice! XDDD I'm leaning more towards the Sleeping Beauty one out of the four, but I'd like to learn more about them if I can (And this is even assuming it's still on Ebay by then, but hey it's nice to dream right?? ^_^)

Any info is greatly appreciated <3 xxx

I'm sorry I can't help you as I don't have any, but I also love them and think they're beautiful. Would I pay $200-$300 for them? Well, no not yet because I still have dolls to work on getting first, but I would be interested to hear what they sound like to see if they're really as beautiful as they look.

I fully concur! I would hate to drop $200 to $300 on one of these things only to be disappointed bc it doesn't sound good, detail is off, etc etc.

These remind me of the old San Francisco Music Box Company pieces. I have an Anastasia one packed away somewhere at my mom's house, but it looks JUST like these in size/shape/style. If it's the same company that made them, the quality and detail work of my Anastasia one was really incredible (it even survived a drop, not that I would recommend trying to recreate that)... sorry that the price seems to have shot up!

Good luck, doll. <3

I use to have jessica and miss piggy, but I eventually sold them. I really wanted the Little Mermaid one. It rarely goes up for auction and people want too much money for it.

Hey! These music boxes are beautiful! I've also been hunting for these for a while, but the prices are SO steep I was able to get a square Little Mermaid one last year on ebay for a pretty good price I found this link that shows a lot boxes VERY similar to the ones above. According to the article these came out in 2008. My personal favorite is the round Little Mermaid box! http://d-princesses.livejournal.com/690143.html

I have the Alice in Wonderland one, and I was hoping the price details would be on the bottom. But it wasn't, which means it's on the box. Which I have, but it's somewhere in the attic crawl space, and there is no way I could convince the husband to go after it.

When you say they are going for $200-$300 is that in auction-style format, or BIN listings that sometimes sell? If it's several auction style, then the hard decisions, because that's probably the going rate. If they are only BIN listings, then they may not be the true market value. Some still sell at that, because someone is buying for someone else, doesn't want to wait, etc. But if the same item were to show up auction style, maybe it only goes for $80 or whatever. But it will take some patience and regular searches.

Edit: Just checked, the Beauty & the Beast one sold for $39.99 auction style at the beginning of March. So patience may be the ticket.

There is an Anastasia one?! Granted that's not a Disney film but... OMGGG I want one of those too! LOL And wow it survived a drop, impressive

Thanks for the good luck hun! <3 I think I may need it with this one :lol:

Oh wow! All these other music boxes are beautiful too! And OMG one of the Peter Pan ones in this posting has the Mermaids on it *swoons* Any one of these I would be SO happy to own! The personalized ones are very cool too. I still think my fav one... and the one I may hunt down... is the Sleeping Beauty one in my OP w/ her in her Blue gown. It's just so stunning! And I LOVE Aurora in her blue gown :3 But thank u so much for this link!! I'm gonna bookmark it as a reference ;D

With the ones I mentioned, they are at BiN prices... at least most of them are I believe. And I agree w/ that u thought; that's the BiN price but they may not be worth that much. I think ur right about the patience thing... hopefully I can score one eventually for around $100 or less :x:

I have the Jessica music box and I love it. Had it displayed for a long time. I think it was like $50 when it came out as was the others. I didn't notice they were demanding such a price now but $200-$300 is a bit steep. I've seen the Jessica box listed more often - but I never have looked for the other boxes of the more sought after characters - so its possible there is a higher demand for Tink and Ariel etc. It's one of the best Jessica pieces Disney made. There is so much detail on it and the other boxes seem to have even more from seeing the pictures. I have photos and video here:

Jessica Rabbit Music Box

You HAVE the Anastasia music box?!?! J'aimie!! ;o;

These are really gorgeous though, but I personally wouldn't pay over $150 for any of them, and its safe to say certain characters would sell better than others! Definitely check thrift stores and second hand shops, you would be surprised at what you can find in places like that!

I also think these remind me of the San Francisco Music Box Company, as well as the Anastasia music box I've been tracking down for an age. [I'm scared to death of something happening during shipping] I'm afraid I have no information about the music boxes, but I'm now obsessed with the Sleeping Beauty one. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

I have the Aurora music box in blue (it also came out in pink). It is truly beautiful! I can post a video if you want but it'll be a few days. It's well detailed and plays beautifully. I actually have a picture of an original magazine(?) ad for it. It originally sold for $44.50 I'm guessing the others sold for the same.
I found mine secondhand on ebay for pretty cheap, about the same or a little less as original retail, but it was listed as a Cinderella music box, not Sleeping Beauty, so I think maybe that had to do with it. Since Aurora is wearing blue in this music box, sellers less knowledgeable about the characters might mistake Aurora's blonde/blue combo for Cinderella.
I would create an ebay search for it and get email alerts when new items are listed. Just be patient and keep a weather eye out.

Oh my goodness! I would be SO grateful if u did a little video about it... nothing fancy just to see perhaps the details of the box and hear how it sounds And yes please take ur time I'm in no hurry... I still have to try to put aside monies if I wanna buy this beauty  LOL

Ok so that was the original pricing... DANGGGG!! Then these Ebay sellers are NUTS!:lol:

That is very lucky of how u came to own this music box. I have heard from other traders how mislabelings on Ebay have scored them some great finds/deals. And thank u for the advice! I think I will soon have a mission on my hands :suspect: hehe

I would also love to see some pictures or a video of this music box. Though if they're going for ridiculous prices on ebay I might just wait until the summer to buy it and then have it shipped to my family in the states so I can pick it up when I'm there in August. I hate the idea of something so precious having to go through customs. And knowing my luck, it would probably break or get damaged along the way

I couldn't afford it and wouldn't pay that much personally for a music box, but wow they're absolutely gorgeous!! OMG there's an Anastasia one?? See I would want that one, I am a HUGE Anastasia fan!!! One of my favourite movies!!! Even if it has no historic accuracy.... *lol* I still love it!

No problem Yes I was so excited that there was a blue dress version! I think I was really lucky but I had to wait for it for a while too haha. Every once in a while I've seen them pop up at lower prices so it is possible! I can post the video later this week, probably Friday or Sat, I'm just away from my collection right now
Best of luck to everyone!! Music boxes are the best <3

These were made by Disney and sold through the Disney Store and online. I bought them in 2005 as I gave each of my wedding attendants one and they were $45 each. The ones I got and gave to my wedding party were Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Beauty and the Beast, Alice, and Snow White - and gave them to each person who's hair matched the princess. I kept Tink for myself. The tinker bell one actually came in 2 colors purple and green. I have my old Disney catalogs that have them in them that I could dig up if you like.

Wow! I sure wish I could have attended ur wedding! That's SO awesome and sweet!

Hmm is there any info that would be helpful for my search in that Disney catalog?? I'm aware all the boxes are sold out... so Idk if/how the catalogs would be useful... :dunno: That is a very kind gesture though!! Once we figure that out it could be a yes! lol

I'm sad I can't see the pictures! D:

Hmm that's strange... I can see them fine w/ I have the thread up... is anyone else experiencing this issue too?

Omg I'm sold! I TOTALLY WANT the music box now!! It's sooooooooo gorgeous *starry eyed* And it sounds beautiful too :oooooooooh::
