Beginner Traders

Hi Moondance,

You are a sweet trader, but there are many DPF members that take advantage of newbies and also offer very lobsided trades in their favor. So you really cannot trust a trader just because they are a member here. There are many posts that will state that fact on this forum.

Every morning, I get questions from friends asking me if they think a trade is fair. I will do the same in asking them. I think that is the safest way to go when you are not sure.

All of us have been taken at one time or another, and some of us many times. The sharks are here too, but conceal themselves well.

 
We have been tossing around the idea of hosting another scheduled chat for new traders; would this be something people are interested in helping out with, and for the new traders -- is this something you'd be interested in?

if there's enough interest, we may get a poll going and get the ball rolling to get this underway!

Makes me scared that there are sharks here- hiding amongst the many good citizens here.
 
Sharks get everywhere, they usually seem to gravitate towards me! lol And it's not like I'm a newbie. You'd be surprised at some of the people I've had to deal with (not through here, I'd like to add, it's people through pinpics). Recently I had a very aggressive person trying to deal with me and it almost put me off pins completely; I got advice from someone at Pinpics in the end about it as even though I'm the other side of the world I just found the whole tone of his e-mails incredibly intimidating and upsetting. I'm probably going to turn the TA off on my account, as I'd rather trade with people I know through here.

On the positive side though, over the last week I've had 3 people here help me out BIG time (I will be eternally grateful to Amanda, Brea and Mackenzie!) There are some really great people here, and it doesn't really take long to work out the ones to avoid, if you read around a bit.

This is a valid concern, and it really shouldn't be, because it ruins our hobby and a lot of the fun, doesn't it? Sadly, many people here come on just to gain the trust of others, only to then take advantage of them. Like Tanya says, sharks are everywhere. If something about a trade or purchase does not feel right, do not do it or ask for advice.
