I have seen the trailer from the upcoming Brave movie and it isn't one that is really jumping out at me. However, I have seen a bit of chatter on the boards about the pin releases and I am curious to see what everybody else feels about this movie and the pin releases at DL and DSF later this month.

I was JUST about to make a topic about this! I honestly don't see this movie being THAT good, and was wondering why everyone was obsessing over these pins!

I'm really looking forward to this film. It's Pixar's first female lead and first film set in a historical time period, so I'm interested in how that will work. And from the trailers it seems like there's going to be a really great cast of characters too. Of course I already like Princess films over other types that Disney/Pixar puts out, but I do think this looks like it'll be a good film. I also think it helps that the pins already to be released are all very good quality, especially those from the Soda Fountain. The El Capitan seem to be popular as a set in their own right, and nearly impossible to get hold of after a while, and the one with Angus is just a fantastic pin I think and those two seem to be the ones the most people are interested in.

ITA with MegFan. I'm just a Pixar fan in general, so to think that Pixar will have its very own princess just makes me happy.

Plus, in my collection of Pixar pins, I don't get much of a chance to collect pins that are "pretty". I know, I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And believe me, I do LOVE my collection. There are some very colorful and cute animals in there. But sometimes I wish there were more girly things for me to collect.

Just look at the main characters in past Pixar films. In my collection I have cowboys, spacemen, bugs, monsters, fish, superheroes, cars, rats, robots, old men & little boys (Carl and Russell from Up) ...

so... yeah... can you blame me for being excited about a princess? And even if she wasn't a princess, I'd still be just as excited. I truly believe the people at Pixar are the best film makers in the business, and it is always a big event in my life when they release a new film.

The reason I'm looking forward to the movie, and by extension pins, so much is because I've been in love with Merida since the first concept art. Heck, I'm going up to Scotland for the EU premiere just so that I can see the movie next month instead of having to wait till August (Stupid UK release date ¬¬).

What caught me about the movie was the trailer. I saw it when I went to the theater recently to see some movie, I don't even remember which movie it was, and I thought it was really funny and looked really cute. Plus, Billy Connelly did one of the voices and I've always thought he was hilarious. I don't much care for the princess thing, just tends to be a little too froufrou for me, but I can't wait for this movie and the pins even look great too!

I am uber excited for this movie! Although, I am unsure if I will be collecting the pins for myself. I plan on getting them all just in case though. lol ;)

Well I'm excited to see it and the pins look really cute. I'm not sure how much i'll like the movie though, I tend to like Disney movies more the Disney/pixar movies, just preference but I love both :) It does look a bit like Mulan to me, which is my favorite movie, so will see!

Hey, there was Mrs. Incredible and Violet in The Incredibles! :-)

I'm looking forward 2 it! :) I will not be collecting pins for it but will watch and most likely get on dvd! I do think Merida is a bit of a copycat as Ariel used 2 be the only red head princess! hehe well she's the only DISNEY red head princess and ony mermaid princess  jk movie looks great and I don't hold anything against Merida lol! :)

I'm very excited for Brave!!! Merdia has a completely different personality than any other princess, her design and the animation as a whole is beautiful and the story seems fun and adventurous! Although I will admit, the opening day pin doesn't grab me... her eyes and the position she's in look odd to me personally. Although all the DSF pins, the booster set and the one other rack pin of Merdia are gorgeous!

I'm excited to see the movie and collect most of the pins because Merida seems to be the first and only Disney Princess that doesn't care if she has a Prince by her side and that she is independent and she is the only (True, by blood) Princess I can think of that is shown using a weapon; in her case archery which also appeals to me because I also have a bow and arrows of my own that is similar to hers and not like the modern compound bows of today. Also because I have Scottish ancestry on both sides of the family.

Merida will be my first Princess (and probably only) to collect :cheshire:

You're right of course. And I do love them. But again, they were superheroes. Which is great and all... it's just not the same as a princess. You know?

I'm not saying there have been absolutely no girls in any Pixar movies. All I'm saying is that the type of characters we've seen in Pixar movies so far have been the type of characters that boys would generally be more interested in than girls would. Of course, being the geniuses that they are, they have been able to make those types of characters appealing to girls too, because of the great storylines, and emotional connections to the characters that they create within us.

But eventhough I absolutely love Woody and Buzz Lightyear, no matter how you look at it, my pin collection is still just filled with cowboys and spacemen. Again, I'm not mad about this fact. It's just a fact that I'm pointing out.

We have to remember that Pixar was founded and molded by men, and that most of the people that came up with the stories, and most of the screenwriters have been men. I certainly don't fault them for writing about the things with which they are fimiliar. That's what good writers do.

Wow, Rachel, that's awesome!

I'm excited for all of our scottish friends who will have a Disney princess to hold dear to their heart.

I hope the scottish accents of the characters are true to life, and not too exaggerated, so they don't annoy our scottish friends. I'll admit, just from accidentally listening to the previews (I try not to watch them whenever possible) the accents do sound a bit over the top to me. But I'm hoping I'll get used to it after listening to them for an hour-and-a-half during the movie.

I am looking forward to it because its Pixar! haha But so far the story does seem "predictable" but I KNOW Pixar always has some twists so I am still excited (like I personally think that the story for Toy Story 3 was pretty creative at some moments and hope that this movie will be too)

Personally, I'm also someone that doesn't get the hype behind this upcoming film. Merida is a princess that doesn't want to be one? Been there, done that. Disney's been playing with that role since Aurora. She doesn't strike me as interesting or new or different, just another "strong female lead" that will be just as fun for boys as it should be for girls. *shrugs* Meh.

Maybe someday Disney will make a movie that doesn't feel like it's trying so hard. I wish they'd go back to stories that were great books first, like the Prydain Chronicles. Maybe The Black Cauldron wasn't as beloved as other films, still isn't, but I really enjoyed seeing it come to life. There are tons of other books out there with interesting characters that could make for a good movie.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way but I'm also not particularly interested in the culture being represented. I've just never found it as enchanting as others have. Growing up with a Gaelic name in countries where it's always being mispronounced is enough to make me brush off being interested in either Celtic or Gaelic lore.

With the Marquee actually selling for $80 presale already and it being the new full Pixar film with a new Princess I think it will be a busier than normal release. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first Pixar princess too right??

At DSF, in the last 4 months, we've had 2 sleepovers required for pins and a few that were sellouts by the time the line went through. Up and Storybooks both took overnight stays. Avengers were gone morning of. The Easter eggs and the Perfume bottles sold out quickly also. Especially Jessica.

I have a lot of trade requests for the Brave opening day pin at DLR and the DSF marquee I am pretrading. For the marquee I want an older HTF marquee in return and so far no bites. Lots of PTD's and other stuff offered. I think it will be a bigger release with the pretrade action I've seen. I don't think overnight though, but I guarantee you there will be overnighters! Since I enjoy getting flamed for saying what time to show up I am guessing 5am guarantees you set of DSF Brave pins, 7:30 maybe gets you in but you're sweating about it, and after 9am you're not getting the Marquee but maybe the others. I'll put my feelers out to see what everyone else thinks.

I see this movie as Disney's response to the success of How To Train Your Dragon by Dreamworks, but maybe that's just me. I liked that movie though so Brave and it's northern European/Celtic them will be a nice break from fish, cars, robots, and toys. From the previews I've seen the Maximus horse fans will love Angus. Pascal lovers will like the 3 bears which seem a bit mischevious and goofy perhaps? Red headed and fair skinned kids will love Merida. Her archery preview shots in the trailer are totally going after the Hunger Games crowd. Why couldn't they promote John Carter this well? Such a good movie that fell victim to terrible marketing. At least the people responsible for the John Carter fiasco got let go!

+1, and I'll add that I think with the lack of pin buying options (we're limited now to disney park pins and DSF) that DSF pins are now the "hot new pins" and everyone is trying hard to get them. There's more hype for these pins than I've seen in the past and I think this accounts for the amounts of pre-sales we see, especially on eBay. But I'll be there whatever time I have to be to get these pins. They look great and I can't wait to see the movie!

I don't know what it is, but ever since the preview came out I have been stoked for this movie. I was so disappointed in Cars 2, so I'm totally ready for another original Pixar film. They truly are master story tellers and out of the many films only a couple have been duds (both being the Cars movies in my opinion).

I personally think this movie is going to capture our hearts and blow us all away. :)
