And surprisingly it's not that I have more than I thought. :shock:

The hubby and I, in preparation for Mickey's Circus (and also because it desperately needed to be done), finally went through pinpics and updated our owns and trades lists. Knowing that we have 9 boards (7 of which are the 2ft. x 3 ft. boards with some that are almost full to the brim, a small board, and then a larger board for the misc and completed collections), I held off looking at the final number until now. In comparison to my family, who also collects, we have the most pins, and so I was assuming a rather large number, though I suppose in all reality it is. :anxious:

Grand total: 1052, with repeats due to adding both the set & individual listings for pins if we have all in the set. So in truth prolly around 1045, or so.


Am I crazy for feeling slightly deflated, but mostly shocked, about this number? It seems like sooo much lower than what we expected, given the space our collection takes up. Has anyone else experienced this, or something similar? Rather, how large are your collections??

According to Pinpics 588, so I'd say about 600 as I'm not quite up to date and that doesn't include around 80 traders...
I do get suprised cos my boards don't look like I have anywhere near as many.
Nevertheless, before I got back in trading/collecting this year, it was only about 300.... :facepalm:

:rofl: I have like 40 pins, at the most!!! Ha ha! Trying to bring a guy down here, eh? J/K! But, I wish I had even a quarter of either of your collections! At the rate I am able to acquire pins, it will take me 30-35 years or so to catch up with you guys! :lol:

 
On Picpics i own Nearly 500 pins but im sure i have way more not listed on my owns and a lot of traders as well. Im pretty surprised about this number i thought i would have less than that :shock:
 
It says 1100 but I know I have doubles and triples of traders. Probably closer to 1200 with the ones I haven't got around to adding. Been at it for about 18 months so that's just more than 2 pins per day I'm acquiring.

Lol I am with you in this one! Parents say I have enough haha

I have 1533 pins on pinpics but I have a lot of duplicates and some that are not on pinpics so I would say just over 1600

LOL, I like your math. 2 pins per day X how many days I've been collecting = far many more than I have, considering I started in 1990. But by the time pin trading started in 1999, I only had a couple dozen pins, so the start was slow. So if I just consider 2 pins per day since the start of pin trading. Oct 1, 1999 to now... is 4722 days, I think, which would equal 9444 pins. Thankfully, I only have 7515. So, I'm good :lol:

That statement makes me really wish the "new pinpics" would have a quantity counter. Like you could list that you have the pin with a quantity of 3 - one in your collection and two in your traders! That would be so nice!


Back to topic, I am completely the opposite. My number is 2,757 and when I see that I think "how is that possible....where are they???". But when I scroll through my pages of listings I just think to my self "yeah, that is in this book, those are in that book, all of those are on the wall, etc". So, I know where they all are....somehow they just aren't taking up that much space. Probably because I really cram my pins in tightly so that I don't have a bazillion books. Also, my silhouettes take up a lot of pins.
 
Aw heck, I wasn't even including traders in the original number. That's just our owns list! Including traders it jumps to 1224, but that doesn't include the multiples on the traders so. . . . 1300 ???

I really like the math of 2 pins a day for the amount of days you've been collecting. By that theory we're a good bit under, as we've only been at this two and a half years. And then when you include the fact that it's not just myself collecting, but also my husband, that then grows to twice the amount. So definitely wayyyyyyyyyyyyy under.

BTW, I love your silhouettes Erica!
 
Im the same I have about 40 or so. I'm picky so it'll take me a while to even get close to even 100..when I say a while I mean a lifetime
 
Been collecting for 12 years and have estimated my collection to be easily over 4,700 pins...

Not all my pins r on pin pics as I have a few doubles and plus on pinpics its got a few bags and
lanyards i have listed as one pin and sets as one lol my last count was 570 a few months ago lol

Mmm might have to have a recount n see will wait till after dlrp hehe !!!!!
 

aweee and your in co, so that hard! blacksmoke is in co....maybe you can meet and trade. I looked at all your wants to see if i can help you out and jessica collectors are the most difficult and expensive collections...but i will keep an eye out.

Thank you SO much Dawny!!! I greatly appreciate it!!! And of course I would pick the hardest and most expensive, but I have been in love with Jess since 1987, ha ha ! I would very much enjoy meeting blacksmoke, it is VERY difficult in CO, as I am sure it is in any state this far from Disney! I have been trying to find a group of CO collectors/traders to start a meetup group, to no avail!
 

It's even hard for those who live in the state of CA too. I live about an hour and a half away north of Disneyland so I don't get there as often as I would like. boohoohoo. I wish I had someone near me that liked collecting pins...
