D23 Event

Oh wow, hey man, good to see you around!

I'm not able to go but I hope you have lots of fun!

A "hot minute" indeed. Oh my gosh.

Welcome back. How's life treating you?

Good to see you all are still around!

Dude. Where have you been? How's school? Good to see you here.
I've been working mostly! I completed my degree in veterinary science, but I became a full-time aerospace engineer, picked up a bunch of new hobbies, and got diagnosed with lung cancer about two years ago now. Things have been interesting, but I am glad to see you too! Hope all has been well!

Yeah, my bad. I think my watch batteries died. I lost track of time! ;P

Life has been good all things considered, I hope you have been well!

I don't even remember what happens in Mulan, I haven't seen that movie in 10 years lol.

Me when I saw a new post from you:

Me when I saw that bit about lung cancer:

I am so sorry. How’s it going right now, health wise? I’m glad you’re well enough to go to D23! Congrats on your veterinary stuff, and your current job!
It sounds like you have accomplished a heck of a lot!

Thanks for the laugh lol.

Some days are better than others, but I have good friends and family around me who help me on the bad days. Kinda like the friends I'm dragging to D23 with me who know nothing about pin trading or Disney.

Wow. It’s good to see you back. I’m adding you to my prayers. I hope you enjoy taking your friends to the celebration. Hopefully they will become crazy Disney people too.

Nice! I'm not sure if I'm doing the overnight line or not this time due to my health and the last time I went to D23 (2019 I think), I nearly got trampled to death and did the overnight line. Not sure if they have improved the line aspect of things or not. You'd be more than welcome to wait with us in line if you'd otherwise be alone!

I remember when you almost got trampled.

Not attending D23. Decided paying hundreds of $$ to wait in long lines 24 hours a day for a long weekend, with rude people (who become ruder as they get more tired, while my patience wears thin with them... as I am tired too), was not for me. Might change my mind someday, but right now, where I am at.

So very sorry to hear about the diagnosis of Lung Cancer. Thinking only positive thoughts for you.

I'm going to D23 for the first time and I'll be exhibiting there! (if anyone has any suggestions/tips/tricks to share, I'd love to hear them all!)

We're going to be showing off Disney Pinnacle to Disney fans for the first time and we're giving away a _lot_ of value, so hope to meet you there

I have never attended a D23 convention in CA, but I have many friends who have. Horror stories of sleeping in the parking garage over night on concrete floors to be one of the "first in line" for many of the merchandising stores. Only to have the doors gang rushed upon opening by others and the CM's doing nothing to keep order. Not for me, thanks.

That's great news! For all you DPF'ers, please stop by whatever Pinnacle has set up, and say hi! Ask for this guy if you have any questions

Officially there was no overnight line. But people lined up starting at midnight (if not earlier) anyway.
Was there a virtual queue? Not having to wait in the WDI line sounds great tbh.

I'm sure Nan was one of them, we had a pretty horrible time in 2019.

100% accurate!

They provided wristbands to some of the group inside the convention hall. These were individuals who were waiting all night to get in and were first to line up in the Exhibit Hall. The wristbands provided first access into the stores (such as MOG). They handed out a fair amount of wristbands, but as you can imagine there were a ton of people in line who did not receive one. They were checking for wristbands for entrance into the store.

There was a different line for DSSH and the other merchandise stores. They all had their own large as in the aexhibit Hall to line up.

They had a standby line you could join and you were randomly placed into groups. If you were one of the first standby groups you had a chance to obtain pins. Later groups either had a few pins remaining or nothing at all. This happened for each store - it was not one standby line for all stores…each were individual.

There was, but very limited. Most if the pins went to the overnighters. Especially WDI. I think more of the virtual queue folks were able to get dssh pins.

I've been to every D23 Expo and every single one was terribly run and they've never learned their lesson because it's rarely the same people working it twice so they have no sense of the history of how the lines work.

Tickets are non-refundable though, AFAIK, although you could transfer your tickets to someone else. That transfer option closes next week though.

Go if you want to be there for the Expo. Don't go expecting a chance at good pins unless you're camping out. Although plenty of DSSH offerings can be unpopular and not sell out.
