Disney Store Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion - 2016

I find this to be a common occurrence with delivery companies. I went through a period where Canada Post didn't deliver my packages properly. The tracking would say attempted delivery with no answer, when this wasn't the case, and no slip left alerting me to pick it up. I had a couple cases where they left a slip when they didn't even bring the package along for delivery (long story as to how I caught them doing this, but I had irrefutable proof). The worst was when I bought a Disney doll off ebay; the package was supposed to be delivered within 10 business days and the tracking said it was delivered on the 10th day. Checked the mailbox many times, it was not delivered. No slip, nothing. Contacted the seller to ask them to get in touch and see if it was nearby- was delivered the next day. Turned out that they were going to be late by a day and just said it was delivered on the 10th day to avoid trouble. Luckily the service through them has been a million times better in the past couple years, maybe a new person delivers to our area.

I don't order through UPS or anything a lot, but in the future I think I will get one of those lock boxes/safes for parcels. I hear so many horror stories of people's stuff getting stolen off their front porch. Apparently some people will even follow the UPS truck around and swipe anything left by the door :/

Seriously?! That's horrible! I know that delivering during the day most likely people aren't home, but it's still their job, that's what they're paid to do. And as for the saying it was delivered when it wasn't, you'd think that would cause more trouble. I know I would be furious.


Eeek! A lock box sounds like a great idea.

If you can subscribe to UPS My Choice (or something similarly called), you can schedule delivery and/or have them hold it for you at the depot.

I'll have to look into that! I wourk nights, so I'm always home when they come, problem is that they usually come when I'm sleeping, so they wake me up. Thanks for the heads up!

Sold out before most people found it, as expected. I figured that since someone get the set already, the item code from the box had likely been passed around? So sad I couldn't get one, but I will survive without. No way I'll pay more than retail for them.

Item codes don't work anymore (sis told me that). People figured they didn't work with the 17" Belle pre-order. It's just the luck of the draw for when the system updates and shows up

Really? I didn't know they changed it. The number on the barcode, not receipt right? Either way it totally stinks when these pop up and no one can even find them until too late. I'm majorly bummed, I have to admit. Placeholders before the release would be kind of an amazing idea...

I decided to try for the Platinum set and kept searching for "Belle Platinum doll" every second and it actually popped up. I checked out super fast (didn't worry about entering the Free Shipping code) and I was successful in purchasing the set!

I am still freaking out over having spent so much on dolls but I couldn't resist lol. The only thing is when I look at my receipt it says shipping is $80.95...does anyone know why on earth it would be that much? The designer sets usually list a shipping price of $17.95. Just wondering if anyone else's order has the crazy shipping price. I will try to call tomorrow and see if they will take it off but was still curious...thanks!

I got the platinum set (fingers crossed it won't be canceled!) and it has the same shipping price listed but it was taken off because I used the SHIPMAGIC code. I think it is because the size of the box?

Shipping is based on $$$ value, not the actual size and weight of the box!

Yup. Everyone was passing around the UPC for Winter Belle and the item number on the receipt. Neither worked early.

And PrincessBecky, re: shipping, hopefully you will find a nice CM. Since the order should be "in processing," what they will probably do is offer you am e-gift card because, once something is "processing", they can't make changes to it.

Wow that is silly. So if I bought a pair of Mickey Mouse Diamond earrings (retails for $5525) I would be paying $330.95 to ship LOL.

I would be totally fine with that considering I am planning on purchasing the remaining two Designer sets and could use the money towards that...I would just feel silly paying $80 to ship the Platinum set just for not entering a code! It's my own fault I was just so nervous to check out fast...hopefully a nice CM will take pity on me tomorrow LOL.

So there are already 4 listings up on eBay for the platinum set and 3 of them are written the same way which makes me believe it's the same seller using three different accounts. If it is the case I find it very dishonest.

I bought the platinum set! she will be going all the way to the netherlands. and I will try next week in europa. to help out any other random collector! if I get her big if I will have 2 platinum sets. And I will sell the one from america then. she ofcourse will be more expensive because import and shipping but it is the retail price I paid for her, I just hope people don't get mad at me when I will sell her. D: never those stupid ebay prices like 3500 nobody is going to pay that.

Disney website is still letting you add the platinum set to your bag. Didn't check out as I can't afford the set. I've already seen the LE belle doll go for $400 on eBay so many scalpels out there it sucks. I'm going to have to resort to eBay for belle as I missed the ore order

I was unable to get the snow Belle/Beast/Gaston dolls because of a silly error with Disney's website (yet they still put 2 blocks on my card for the price as I attempted to get her twice), and I missed out on the Platinum set as I was unlucky and didn't realise it was tonight until it was too late. Belle is the only doll I have missed out on in 4 years of collecting.
Congratulations to everyone who has got her; she is very beautiful. (Personally I think she's more stunning than her original one all those years ago - which I also don't have, hahaha. It's the curse of the belle doll!!).

She is the first sort of 'double up' doll that was released after already having a first Belle doll out; I wonder if this will be a trend? I wonder if we should expect to see re-releases of other dolls? I think people would love a re-release of Snow White. Luckily I have her, and she's my grail doll, but I wouldn't mind a second one in a different outfit - even with her in rags!

You are not alone! It's been a long time since I delt with Canada Post, but when I did they were the absolute worst. My best (worst?) story with them was waiting anxiously for a Christmas present to come in before service stopped for the holidays. I was so happy when tracking said it was out for delivery on the last possible day, and I diligently awaited it's arrival all day, even checking the mailbox every hour just in case the package was small enough to fit. Naturally not a peep was made at my door and the mailbox was completely empty when my tracking informed me that a delivery attempt had been made and I could pick up the parcel the next business day. I may have said some expletives. So Christmas passed and I went down to the post office the moment they reopened and had them dig for my stuff (I didn't even have a delivery slip). The next day, after I already went and got the dang package myself, miraculously a delivery slip appears! And they even had the gall to still write the original delivery date on it - like I wouldn't notice it hadn't been there for a week?! Obviously Canada Post has a working time machine.

Yup ... because UPS is an insured service. So if they lose or damage your item, you should be covered for the full price. That's what the bulk of those charges cover: the insurance!

Oh I love snow white I would love to own her one day but i am not going over 1000 to get her D: I will let you know if it will work out and that I will have 2 sets. Ofcourse I will keep the one I think it the most beautiful haha. there is one guy from america who helped out like 7 collectors to get their dolls for retail price! if he wants the doll I will sell it to him because it's just so amazing that he wanted to help out others and I've told him if I get 2 you are the first to decide if he wants to buy her from me. because it's just nice of him to help all those people. but maybe I have no luck in europa D: I just hope scalpers don't get the change

Correct, you need to have someone order something for you to deliver to their address and then they mail it here.

Yup ... because UPS is an insured service. So if they lose or damage your item, you should be covered for the full price. That's what the bulk of those charges cover: the insurance!

Yup! And the $81 is actually not that bad of a price. I paid Fed-Ex $50 to ship a doll from CA to NY insured for $500.
