Disney Store Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion - 2016
Once the set comes out in Europe (they got 325 sets), I would expect the prices to drop, like the Wedding Aladdin/Jasmine did.

Sorry to keep asking but, is there a way for one to be able to order and just use the shipping buddy'd address? That way they don't have to pay using their info.

So Uk disney doesn't ship to US correct? How can one place an order on there, with a shipping buddy maybe?

I'm not sure the UK Disney Store site will allow you to purchase with a US-based credit card. I tried that with a previous doll release; a very kind forum member offered me his mailing address for the ship-to and was willing to then ship the package on to me when it arrived. But the UK site recognizes a "foreign" credit card and won't proceed. I'd try to test that out (you don't actually purchase until you hit the final "Submit") and see if it works before you pin your hopes on paying for it with a non-UK credit card ... I couldn't get past the payment screen, no matter what I tried. You might have better luck calling Harrods, if the set doesn't sell out immediately upon release.

Oh boy...and hope dwindles slowly...

I'm serious, if you have a UK mailing address you could use, I'd create an account on the UK site, put something small in your cart, and "proceed to checkout." See if it will let you process through the payment screen. (You will not be charged until you hit the final submit button ... and I'm serious, you won't get that far if the UK site rejects your credit card attempt, so you won't "accidentally" buy something you don't want.) If it does, then when you want to dive on the platinum set, you have some confidence it will work. But if it DOESN'T work, you know now to seek an alternate option. If you try to do this when the set is released and you're under time pressure, you will just give yourself a heart attack if it doesn't work.

Honestly, the time I called Harrods, it was SO EASY. They deduct the VAT (tax), which offsets the exorbitant shipping fee--so you kind of break even there. And if the exchange rate is OK, you will either pay what you would've paid ordering from the US site or possibly a little less. People tend to forget that you DO NOT pay $750 on the US site. You pay $750 PLUS TAX* (unless you live in Delaware, ha ha). Ordering from Harrods worked out to LESS (not by a ton, but still ...) than I would've paid ordering from the US Disney Store site, even with the international shipping. Just sayin'. Feel free to PM me if you want the Harrods info ...

* For example, for me, a platinum set from the US site, even with free shipping, comes out to $802.

Ok. I have my stuff shipped to Vermont and there are no sales tax but yeah Harrod's is an option. Considering the set sold out about two minutes after it released I expect the release in the UK to be brutal as well...

Some people's order of the platinum set has already been canceled even after they got the confirmation email from Disney. I think that since I have started collecting Disney dolls this whole Belle/Gaston/Beast and platinum releases have made more unhappy customers than the other ones.

Harrods is going to be tough for this set as I would expect people physically present at store would get priority over phone orders.

Do you have PayPal? If so, add your friend's UK address as a delivery address to your PayPal account and pick that as delivery/payment option if you decide to try UK.

I suspect it was easier for the LA Alice/Hatter because not a lot of people didn't want that set (sorry Ann).

Ha ha, I totally agree that this set is more popular and will likely sell faster! It's not guaranteed to work, but I think people should try for stuff they really want. And since Europe is getting 325 sets, if Harrods gets, like, 50 ... you never know. They might not sell out in the first millisecond. I'm just saying the process of ORDERING from Harrods is easy. Not saying "You will absolutely get the set if you call them." :D

I do have paypal, does one login with their US account on the uk site or do you have to register?

Oh no did they oversell?

I don't know. The girl said that she got her in her bag and got an email confirmation right after but when she checked her account the money had not been debited. She paid using a bank card or debit not sure. I think we will hear about more drama in the next few days.

Talk about a real "aw, Phooey!"

I'm sure the answer is yes, but the Beast is completely sold out for people in the US, right. Kind of regretting not getting him.

i just called the DS to check that my order for the platinum set was good and she said there was one reserved for me! Although I think I am going to be nervous until I have the set in hand. I planned on getting these dolls a long time, so I will be so happy when it is finally here!

My guess is the people who had their order canceled were the ones who were frantically adding the set to their cart and were finally able to add it And check out. It looks as though the website still experiences glitches and when you have thousands of users trying to add items to their bags at the same time it messes up with their inventory. At least this time, the money wasn't taken out of their account from what I understand.

If you were able to check out around 3:30 or 12:30 pst got the email and the money is on hold in your account my guess is you are pretty safe.

here is a gorgeous picture taken by Madeye from dcp. I hope she will post her pics here too. I wanted to share the awe i had when I saw it there.

I called my two stores but no luck finding a leftover Beast. I was told it was pre order only. Guess I'll check out eBay at some point.

I called Yorkdale earlier today out of curiosity and the cast member I spoke to said they'd sold out Belle/Gaston yesterday, and that the two Beasts out of the store's 10 which had not been pre-ordered (which means I was the last one to do it, and I did it on Sept. 2, so that's not surprising) sold out "right at 10AM today". Guess people saw him in better photos or for real, and liked him, so Go Beast! Happy he did well. Hope the people who are still seeking him find one soon and reasonably.

I used to be able to have UPS hold it for free. The guy on the phone said they could, but the first person said no. You'd think it would be easier to have it picked up rather than have the driver deliver. I once picked up stuff, they gave me a wrong box! I got one of my boxes and then a wrong one--I was expecting two. Husband realizes it before I opened it, so I took it back. The guy there was VERY happy, to say the least, since he didn't get in trouble for sending out the wrong package.

I tell my postman to knock with packages that don't fit in the slot. If no one answers, take it back and I'll get it.

Back to the important stuff...these dolls are gorgeous. They are absolutely gorgeous. That British reviewer online? He's fantastic and fun to listen to. I've got to find his stuff and just watch/listen for enjoyment.

So belle/gaston and my spidey tsums shipped from the U.K. Store, but nothing on 17" Belle... kinda worried!
