DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion

That's kind of what I was worried about. I'd rather it be more like Cinderella live action. Yeah, I was thinking they'd have to make the other main characters human (a good thing), but I still think they'd have to use a lot of cg on Beast. If nothing else, it'll be pretty interesting to see how they do it. Beauty and the Beast was a favorite story of mine when I was a kid (before Disney animated it) and I think Disney has the best chance to do a good job on it, but I'm a still a little worried at the musical aspect. Regardless, I hope they do a doll because I'm sure I'll get it. Also, I hope they do a prince doll that doesn't look like the Beast. I think that's more likely for a live action movie, but I'm sure it will resemble the actor if they do, so not sure I'd get it. I remember being awkwardly impressed with the way the prince looked at the end of the movie when I saw it when it first came out (I was about 15), and honestly, seeing Belle cuddle up with the beast kinda creeps me out a little. I'd have liked the designer version to have the blonde prince with rooted hair. I like that he looks so different than the other princes. I don't see them doing it, though.

Speaking of pining away for dolls we can't afford right now... I feel the same way about purple Rapunzel. I know I've said it before, but she's my Grail. I have a feeling though, if I ever do save up enough for her, Grail status will be transferred to some other LE, say maybe Snow... Or Coronation Anna...

Has any other seasoned collector gone through this kind of Grail transfer mentality, the once-I-get-my-hands-on-it-now-my-Grail-has-changed thing for a lack of a better word?

After much thought my list would look like this:
Purple Rapunzel
Coronation Anna
Snow White
Tiana
SQ Elsa

Whats yours???

All I want is Le live action blue cinderella, Le ariel, and regular Le cinderella then I'll be happy. My list of what I want has shortened dramatically. I had to be realistic in how much money I can raise in the summertime and how many dolls I can buy. I just hope that the Le cinderella doesn't increase in price too much.

OMG, I so hope this is the case! The Broadway score is AMAZING!!! I would love for this film to include the songs only included in that version. Specifically, "No Matter What" for Maurice and Belle, "Me" for Gaston and Belle, "Home" and "A Change in Me" for Belle, and the oh-so-beautiful finale of the first act, the Beast's "If I Can't Love Her." Not to mention, I would love to see how they could do the choreography for the Broadway arrangement of "Be Our Guest."

Can you tell I'm a Broadway baby, lol?

im the same way. If I could I would buy Snow White or elsa, but my mother doesn't think a doll that price is worth it. Even paying for a Le doll at retail isn't worth it to her.

My mom thinks the same thing. Then I show her, look, the value has increased and she says sell and I say no.

My mother would react the exact same way, that is, if she were to find out about it. Actually, she might scream and faint if she hears how much I pay for these dolls (and mind you, I paid retail for the majority except a few of the first wave of DFDCs).

My dream list would be:

SQ Elsa
Coronation Anna (or Harrods set of them together)
Ariel
Wedding Rapunzel

Snow White and Alice is kind of on the list because though I'm not a fan of either of their characters, I really do love the magnificence of their dresses and the quality of the doll.

I know Ariel and Wedding Rapunzel aren't as expensive as other dolls but with Disney pushing out so many dolls in one year, I basically have to choose to either save for the upcoming dolls or past released dolls.. The recent Cinderella was even an impulse purchase and not planned. And with this year being D23 year and the fact that I'll be attending for the very first time, I'm going for things I can afford at retail for now. :\

My dream list would be:

SQ Elsa
Coronation Anna (or Harrods set of them together)
Ariel
Wedding Rapunzel

My dream list is:
-Ariel, she's coming in the mail :anxious:
-Nordic Anna
-Hans, if there is one :x:
-BH6, if there is any coming out :x: :x: :x: :x: :x: :x:

My grail coronation Anna is about to come while she is waiting for custom clearance...

My ultimate grail doll is SQ Elsa. I would slowly put aside money for her, but I'm afraid that by the time I do she'll be going for even higher prices or won't even be on the market anymore. Which is why I simply must have a Frozen Fever LE Elsa I think that might just satisfy me if they made her and I managed to get one because her look is so similar. Then, I don't think I'd be tempted to buy SQ Elsa unless I somehow became a millionaire

My other grail would be purple Rapunzel, and even though they aren't 17" dolls, I really would like to have the designer couple sets of Ariel and Eric and Rapunzel and Flynn.

I have a friend who owns a lot of the dolls I would pine for otherwise, and being able to see them once in a while significantly helps keep the desire from getting out of hand. Between being able to visit Coronation Elsa and owning my own Regal Elsa, I think I can make do without that particular grail.
Alice, though... I was totally floored when I saw that one. I don't think I'll ever stop keeping an eye out.

I just wanted to share a pic of how Cinderella might've looked without that oily face. I restyled mine and removed the shimmer. She's still in progress, but I'm not ashamed to show her... Even if she didn't turn out the way I envisioned.

I really hope Disney's done with this shiny crap. It ruins the look of the dolls and isn't easy to remove.

Oh wow she definitely look much better without the oily face and the tinkerbell-ed chest  Did you add some blings to her hair as well?

And what is it with Disney giving all female LEs longer hair than what is accurate??

Oops yeah I added gems to her hair, good eye! I'm adding more to her dress once the ones I ordered arrive. And yes the length of the hair is the problem, but I don't want to cut it aside from the bits I had to trim.

I didn't mind the shine to her face, but now that I see what you have done, I think she looks much better your way. Also I love what you did to her hair! I had hoped Disney would have had her hair look more like one in movie.

love the hair..

Sooooo am I the only one here who is NOT at all happy that Disney keeps making (frankly, terrible) live action remakes of all their classic animated films? Granted I haven't seen Cinderella yet (going tomorrow on cheap ticket Tuesday), but Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland, the 101 Dalmatians movies from the 90s...all so, so awful. Why the heck can't they come up with original ideas for films anymore? Like Enchanted, for example. Now that is a freaking amazing live action Disney movie inspired by their animated fairy tale canon but it was really original, hilarious and heartwarming. I want to see more films like that come out of Disney (but not an Enchanted 2, which is apparently still in the works, sigh), not cash in hacks of already established and beloved films. I mean, a live action Dumbo? REALLY??? Plus The Jungle Book next year, WHICH THEY HAD ALREADY DONE A LA VERSION OF IN THE MID 90S. Mark my words, there will be a live action Frozen in about five years. Gotta milk that cash cow's teat's dry.

Well, I'll mostly be sticking to animated films released by Disney and collecting all the stuff I don't need, BUT LOVE SO MUCH, from them. The live action Cinderella dolls were the first ones I passed on since I started collecting DS dolls in 2011. The inevitable Beauty and the Beast ones of Belle are a maybe for me but only because she'll be played by Emma Watson, who is just darling. Something tells me I'll still find her face sculpt super creepy though

Eh, who knows what goes on with the longer hair. Easier to style, maybe? But as far as the glitter on the chest... that WAS movie accurate. Lily James was covered in glitter during that entire sequence. So that would explain the presence of the glitter and it probably would've explained the shimmer on the skin, had Disney not done that with the recent Frozen release.

If you're concerned about the Emma Watson face molds, you can always check out some Hermione Granger dolls that were done for the Harry Potter franchise. Granted, those weren't created by Disney, but it should give you at least some of an idea of what a face mold could look like.

I personally am not too fond of how Disney keeps remaking their animated films either. The live action Dumbo film by Tim Burton makes me shudder just thinking about it. However, I walked away from Cinderella LOVING the film. To me, Cinderella didn't feel like it was a full on remake or a re-imagining, but it instead felt like I was watching a very beautiful play that was being a tribute to the original classic while still managing to be its own version of the tale. It appears like it may be the same case for Beauty and the Beast, which will have singing and even Alan Menken returning to do the score and songs. I do hope that this doesn't become a really common trend though. The thought of a live action Frozen sounds AWFUL (though Once Upon a Time got away with it and it ended up being interesting, but it had the benefit of being a non-canon pseudo sequel). Give me new animated films ANY day.

I just wanna say 'Wow'! Nice hair!

She is looking great so far! I personally am one of those people that thinks that her shiny skin doesn't look too bad on her, but she honestly does look better without it. We really don't need the shiny skin on any more dolls unless it happens to be another fairy or something. I can't wait to see what she looks like when you are finished with her!

That hair is GORGEOUS! Love the additional gems too. How did you remove the shine and shimmer without removing the makeup on her face?

You can see how much better she looks in a photograph without the shine. I think the shine was one of the reasons the Frozen dolls and this one ended up looking so horrible in the stock photos. The shine reflects and intensifies the light, and it makes it look worse than it does in person.

Your post just made me think how strange it must be to have multiple dolls made in your likeness. Thousands of mini replicas of yourself in homes across the globe. Kinda weird. LOL.

I think about that all the time! There are so many celebrity dolls out there. I have to wonder what Lily James thinks of her doll...haha I wouldn't know what to think about one that was made to look like me!
