DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
Speaking of pining away for dolls we can't afford right now... I feel the same way about purple Rapunzel. I know I've said it before, but she's my Grail. I have a feeling though, if I ever do save up enough for her, Grail status will be transferred to some other LE, say maybe Snow... Or Coronation Anna...

Has any other seasoned collector gone through this kind of Grail transfer mentality, the once-I-get-my-hands-on-it-now-my-Grail-has-changed thing for a lack of a better word?

After much thought my list would look like this:
Purple Rapunzel
Coronation Anna
Snow White
Tiana
SQ Elsa

Whats yours??? :)

All I wanted last year when I started collecting was SQ Elsa. I told myself -- if I can just get this doll that will be it, I don't need any of the older releases, I don't want to collect a bunch of dolls. Yeah right. So I got my SQ Elsa (for what I thought was an astronomical price at the time, but thankfully I got her before she reached the heights of ridiculousness she is now) and I was satisfied for about one day. It didn't take long before I became obsessed with Purple Rapunzel. Got her. Then I added Merida and recently Cinderella (from 2012) --they weren't necessarily grails like SQ Elsa or Rapunzel, but I liked them and they were affordable. Now my life will be complete if I can get:

1) Coronation Anna (it kills me that I have all the Frozen dolls but this one. I want a complete set!)
2) Snow White (this is nearly a tie with Anna, but Anna takes the lead by a hair only because I feel "unfinished" with my Frozen collection)
3) Tiana (I am becoming more and more obsessed with Tiana, luckily she goes for less than SW and Anna but she is very difficult to find. Nearly all the ones I've seen listed on eBay are always in horrible condition for some reason).

there is a movie called "la belle et la bête" (2014). it's french but with subtitles. the film is gorgeous. i highly recommend it while waiting for the release of disney's version, since it's gonna be quite a wait.

I have been wanting to see this movie forever but it is not available in the U.S.

Oops yeah I added gems to her hair, good eye! I'm adding more to her dress once the ones I ordered arrive. And yes the length of the hair is the problem, but I don't want to cut it aside from the bits I had to trim.

How did you remove the shine from her face, wouldn't you be scared that you might mess up the doll? I had to add gel to my aurora because those stray hairs were driving me crazy!lol. I would be scared though giving a perm to an expensive doll, and whenever I give perms to dolls they always revert to their original state unfortunatly. Anyways your doll looks prettier now!

Speaking of gemstones and such, my SQ Elsa has always had two rhinestones missing on her bodice --one of the larger rectangle ones and one small round one. I would like to find similar ones and add them to her, but I am too scared to do it. I suppose the ones that require heat application aren't a good idea, but what kind of glue would be the best? I had brought this up on the forums about a year ago when I first got her and someone recommended a glue and size gemstone and everything, but I never went through with it and now I don't remember. I am frightened to death of the glue bleeding into the fabric and ruining the dress.

Also, is it possible to do this without removing the doll from the box? I definitely don't want to debox her. The gemstones are missing from the front part of her bodice on the stomach area. Seeing that little blank space always annoys me, but is trying to fix her up worth the risk?

If you're concerned about the Emma Watson face molds, you can always check out some Hermione Granger dolls that were done for the Harry Potter franchise. Granted, those weren't created by Disney, but it should give you at least some of an idea of what a face mold could look like.

Yeah, I Googled some and ones that appear to be fan made are gorgeous, though don't necessarily resemble Emma as Hermione or Emma period. Others that are clearly mass produced official HP ones are SCARY BEYOND ALL REASON (just like Yzma :D ) Considering all the OE and LE ones produced by Disney Store (Oz, Maleficent, the current Cinderella ones) so far for live action films have been in the "scary beyond all reason" category for me, I don't hold out much hope for the Emma as Belle dolls, sadly :(

Sooooo am I the only one here who is NOT at all happy that Disney keeps making (frankly, terrible) live action remakes of all their classic animated films? Granted I haven't seen Cinderella yet (going tomorrow on cheap ticket Tuesday), but Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland, the 101 Dalmatians movies from the 90s...all so, so awful. Why the heck can't they come up with original ideas for films anymore? Like Enchanted, for example. Now that is a freaking amazing live action Disney movie inspired by their animated fairy tale canon but it was really original, hilarious and heartwarming. I want to see more films like that come out of Disney (but not an Enchanted 2, which is apparently still in the works, sigh), not cash in hacks of already established and beloved films. I mean, a live action Dumbo? REALLY??? Plus The Jungle Book next year, WHICH THEY HAD ALREADY DONE A LA VERSION OF IN THE MID 90S. Mark my words, there will be a live action Frozen in about five years. Gotta milk that cash cow's teat's dry.

Well, I'll mostly be sticking to animated films released by Disney and collecting all the stuff I don't need, BUT LOVE SO MUCH, from them. The live action Cinderella dolls were the first ones I passed on since I started collecting DS dolls in 2011. The inevitable Beauty and the Beast ones of Belle are a maybe for me but only because she'll be played by Emma Watson, who is just darling. Something tells me I'll still find her face sculpt super creepy though :o
I agree. I prefer animated movies. I really did not like Burton's Alice especially. I can't imagine what they would do for dumbo. I swear to god they better not use real elephants. That would be a total contradiction.

If I had to do a list of dolls I wanted to afford if I win the lottery :

-the Frozen Harrods set, I just love it but couldn't afford it then (and even less now XD)
-Gothel (I just love her, and she would be perfect with my Rapunzel but I don't want to pay the actual price for her)
-The Sleeping Beauty Harrods set
-Snow-White
And that's it for the heirloom collection, I am pretty happy with what I have (Purple Rapunzel, Merida, Ariel/Eric/Ursula, Snow Queen Elsa, Anna Coronation, Elsa Coronation and Snowgear Anna, Blue Aurora and Maleficent).

I am mad because I missed yesterday my Grail doll on a Facebook group : Ariel designer, deboxed but perfectly preserved (so it's ok, because I debox too ^^), in my country for 180€ >_< I want her so badly since I know her (I wasn't collecting doll when the first designer serie were released), but I can't afford her for the actual eBay price v_v

And now my dream list (heirloom collection) for this year :
-Anna and Elsa Frozen fever, Hans ♥
-Jafar *o*, Jasmine and Aladdin

and for the future : Belle as Emma Watson.
I didn't like the face of Cinderella doll (I go to my Disney Store to see her, but it bothered me so much I did not get her), but I loved her display in the box, the box itself, her dress. I am sure Belle will be perfect !

About Grail dolls :)
After I got my second doll that was Snow gear Anna, I became absolutely obsessed finding the Coronation Anna. I always loved her coronation dress and the doll is just the most beautiful thing. I was kicking myself for not keeping up with the dolls and not knowing about the November release! And stupidly I couldn't justify getting her for about 300€ or was it in dollars.. early 2014. But I finally got her that summer but the prices had already risen from the spring! u.u I'm so glad I got her for what I did compared to the prices now, I still think it was to much!

Until yesterday I have been very content with my collection, already having my Grail Coronation Anna! But I just decided I have to get the Coronation Elsa! I guess the regal Elsa convinced me, she is so pretty! I just can't bother with the SQ Elsa tho, I don't really like it......... oops :D Now I kinda feel ridiculous not buying Coronation Elsa earlier watching the prices soar....... because I've been tempted a lot of times!

And my never-going-to-get Grail doll is Alice. But there is no way except a lottery win for me to even consider her! Also I'm pretty sure had I not gotten the purple Rapunzel at retail from DS back then it would be my Grail too. Well it kinda is now too as I love it just as much as my Anna dolls! (my two favorite princesses) :)

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how Tim Burton can even DO a live-action Dumbo. The animated Dumbo, while not my favorite nor my most-watched Disney film, is simply amazing when one thinks of all the exquisite animation that went into it. The idea that a live action version can come up with sequences remotely in the same league as the "Pink Elephants" song or capture Dumbo's flight appropriately is beyond wishful thinking on Disney's part. And I haven't watched Burton's live action Alice in Wonderland yet, but everyone I know who has either completely loves it or hates it (a traditional Tim Burton film, it seems). So I'm just worried that regardless of how much effort the filmmakers put in to make the story fresh but not overblown, the task will be beyond them.

I would say my Grail list for dolls is 1. wedding cinderella 2. Harries sleeping beauty 3. Coronation Anna so totally achievable if I were to win the lottery ;)

So, I got shipping notification for Blue (and it actually is in transit) and Wedding (it's still under "order processed, waiting for pick-up") yesterday.

I'm really hoping that it is picked up today (wedding) but if not, what is a reasonable amount of time to wait before calling DS?

Usually 24-48 hrs. I have had a doll sit for 72 before shipping without calling Disney but once you hit the 48 hr mark I would give them a call and have them check on it. Anything beyond 72 I would definately give them a call and that is what they have told me in the past. I went through a bad experience with Coronation Elsa and it took almost 2 weeks from a label being created to Disney actually finding it and shipping it out so I talked to them a lot about the standard time for everything.

My Anna just arrived. Kristoff, 2015 Elsa and Coronation Anna are still on their way.
2015 Anna is more beautiful in person than I expected.

That's what I was thinking too. I think I'll call tonight/tomorrow AM. Shipping notification didn't come until last night, even though the label had been created yesterday AM (I think, I had to check blue's shipping label to find out there was a wedding shipping label, like PrincessBecky said a few posts ago.)

Congrats! I can't wait to see more pictures of these dolls so I can drool

please make sure you post pics!! Would be great to see both! I hope you love them.

Thank you! I am still in shock that my order actually went though LOL. I will most definitely post pictures when she comes! :)

My Blue Cinderella is in transit as well...she was supposed to arrive on Thursday but they updated it to Wednesday so no complaining about that change! LOL

I received my Blast Off email for Wedding Cinderella around 7:00 PM yesterday, and when I checked my order status on DS.com this morning it updated to closed and provided the tracking number. She says the same thing as yours..."order processed, waiting for pick-up". I am sure they will start shipping them out soon, most likely tonight. But if I don't see movement by Wednesday night or Thursday morning I will give them a call. :)

Glad you got yours and the others are on their way....maybe that means my Anna will start to move. Still sitting there in pre-ship status!! Wrote to Disney, tick tock...waiting to hear back.

I just wanted to share a pic of how Cinderella might've looked without that oily face. I restyled mine and removed the shimmer. She's still in progress, but I'm not ashamed to show her... Even if she didn't turn out the way I envisioned.

I really hope Disney's done with this shiny crap. It ruins the look of the dolls and isn't easy to remove.

Shes beautiful!!! Did you restyled her hair too? I love her face with out the shimmer. You are so brave to do this! Were you afraid she would get ruined?

Sorry, I should've been more specific, lol. I kind of rushed that post on my phone.

I curled her hair, but this wasn't what I wanted. It was supposed to curl up more, closer to her head, but I think it's too long to make it look like the movie without cutting it. I don't want to cut it, though. I also added some small white gems to her hair, and I'll add more to it and her dress once the rhinestones I ordered arrive (in about a month)

I was definitely nervous about accidentally removing her eyebrows and lips, but I hated that shimmer too much not to risk it. I made one screw up that I can't NOT focus on whenever I look at her, but I still prefer her with that flaw than with the oiliness. I do have lots of experience removing doll paint, but the faces are usually bigger, so this was quite a challenge.

I only removed the shine from her face, though. I like how it looks on her body. It's just, with all the crevices in her face, the light catches it funny and makes her look like of like an alien.

Thanks for all the kind words! I guess because you weren't in my head to see what I wanted, she doesn't look like a mess. And I appreciate that, lol. I'm not tampering with her anymore aside from her dress at this point because I think I'll ruin her if I start over.

Quasimodo, i am almost tempted to de-box mine after seeing your lovely photo. i would also be tempted to cut her hair because i don't feel like it matches up with the original hairstyle in the film at all. mattel's version, although not perfect, is more true to it.

i really need to figure out where i am going to put cindy. she is too high up on my 71" bookshelf. i am almost tempted to just spend some moolah on a small shelf? something like this perhaps? but then i don't want her to be too close to any light sources and all my empty spaces on the walls are either awkward for her or have a lamp. don't mind me, super conflicted at the moment.

I'm going to do the same, get her a free-standing shelf for her to be displayed all on her own. She doesn't look nice up high, needs to be on eye level.

Even though I opened her to restyle her, I plan to display her in her box, but I have to alter it first. I've added gems, now I have to play with the background so that she can be centered and let her dress out. I took a pic of a backless mockup. Like this:

LE Cinderella, faux boxed view by Blaine*, on Flickr

Still more work to be done, but you probably get the point.

I like the gems in her hair the most. Her hairstyle reminds me a little of Sisi's but I've only seen the trailers.

Yes, I placed my order on Disney Store UK.

Omg, I'm sooo happy that I'm not the only one! They told me that there is nothing they can do and that I should call my bank, but I have no idea what I should ask my bank because it's clearly an issue from Disney's side. So I checked my VISA payments today, but I didn't see any pending order from Disney... Maybe that's because pending payments aren't visible for me?

I'm so nervous now! I really don't want to end up buying her on eBay.

Thank you sooooooo much for all the information and sharing your story, I think there is still a small sprakle of light at the end of the tunnel for me lol.

Just received my blast off email for ball gown cinderella :) payment went through ok even though the order still has the wrong card details on it. I cant wait to get her
