Man, I love absolutely everything about her
EXCEPT FOR THE SHINE.
I can live with the shine but I BY FAR prefer the dolls without it. I don't think we should give in in defeat and just accept the shine. While it's too late for them to change Jasmine (and I agree we can kind of write it off by saying a princess who lives in the middle of the desert should look sun-kissed!), if Disney Store sees enough complaints about the shine on their Facebook page/gets Tweets about it, etc. they might just listen. And lol, all of the top comments on the photo of the doll are people complaining about the shine. If you haven't already, go and "like" all those comments if you agree to keep pushing them to the top of the comment pile and hopefully Disney Store takes them into account. Another possible way to get the message to them would be to contact Steve Thompson, a designer for the Disney Store. He's a really nice guy and actually does respond to his fans on Facebook and probably through other social media avenues.
THIS IS NOT AN ENCOURAGEMENT TO HARASS HIM OR SAY RUDE THINGS. Just maybe a friendly "hey, love the new Jasmine you guys are doing and can't wait to add her to my collection, but I gotta say, I'm not a fan of the shininess Disney Store has been adding to their LE dolls lately. It works and makes sense for the fairies but I hope to see a stop to it for the non-magical princess/fairy dolls in the future". Then we can all go and "like" comments like that to show our support for an end to the shine!
At least she doesn't appear to have tinsel in her hair. I hated the tinsel FAR MORE than the shiny skin. The ONLY doll the tinsel EVER made sense for is purple dress Rapunzel. I hate it on both Auroras, I hate it on Elsa, I hate hate HATE it on Anna.
Oh gosh, what if there IS tinsel in Jasmine's hair, only it's black so it doesn't pick up in photographs but is really noticeable (AND UGLY) in person??
Okay, not going to jump ahead of myself until I see more pictures. Even with the negative of the shine I can't WAIT to own her. I actually LOVE the dark green colour they chose for her outfit. Unfortunately, using teal green again wouldn't have made this doll much different from her designer couple counterpart (which sadly I think is the reason we'll never see 17" Mulan or Pocahontas - they would literally just be larger versions of their couples dolls *cry*) so they had to change up something. I love the gold accents and the embroidery and the FREAKING HIDDEN MICKEY ON HER BELT. Her necklace doesn't really look like Aurora's to me either. Similar yes but I'm pretty sure they used a different mold to create them.
Now the only thing to worry about is the fact this doll is being released the same day the Aladdin Tsum Tsum set is expected to be released. I was always first or second in line for doll releases but people have gone so Tsum Tsum crazy in my city that they're practically camping out overnight for them (which is silly now that the new limit of 2 has made them much easier to get - the Inside Out ones took over two weeks to fully sell out here, though Bing Bong and Fear were gone in about four days). I do kind of expect more people for the Lilo set and ESPECIALLY the Aladdin set next month since those are older movies and therefore have more fans. Hmm, an overnighter for Jasmine or not, decisions decisions....
