It should go up, if there's more people wanting to get these dolls that don't have the other dolls, they may want to start to try to get the other dolls.
 
Fawn just came out, Zarina and tink went up. When theres a new release its pretty much a certainty people go after the older ones because its like renewing interest in them. Something like sq elsa is always going to retain its value I think. No matter what new versions there are the sq is her primary and "original" outfit.
 
Does anyone think that the Cinderella doll will be announced next week or the week after? If one is made that is? The latest they can announce it is the week after next, seeing it will be a week before the film is released.

Not very often anymore. Most of the surprise releases were the early doll releases like the Mother Gothel and Alice dolls. Usually, at least these days, we always get an announcement about a dolls release around one to two weeks before the film hits theaters, so Disney will be able to sell the dolls the week of the film's release and allow people to know about them ahead of time.

I have heard that too. I have had faith that one was being made from the moment the information was leaked by Radio Disney Club, but lately I have been doubtful for some reason. Maybe its because this is our first real live action doll in the line?
 
Radio Disney Club seems to be a little slow these days. They haven't updated anything about the new Frozen LE releases. So if any information is coming about LE Cinderella, it seems like Facebook might be the better shot.
 

Damn, I wish this board had a "like this post" option because you'd get mine! I completely agree with you even though I will be purchasing (or at attempting to) the newest Frozen dolls (and even with a few people boycotting them on principle they WILL sell out not just because they're Frozen but because scalpers see that the 17" dolls are a MUCH more lucrative investment - really, the only designer doll that's still a ridiculously big money maker is the original designer Ariel).

But yes, I am so, SO disappointed that we didn't get a 17" Cruella. I'm not even sure if we'll ever get Mulan and Pocahontas in 17" form because they would just essentially be larger versions of their designer couple doll look. And while the play line dolls of Gogo Tomago and Honey Lemon are fantastic likenesses, I would have LOVED even more detailed 17" LEs for them. I mean, I guess their outfits would be difficult to spruce up as just slapping on rhinestones wouldn't make any sense and their armour wasn't metallic so that would look odd too but, eh, Disney could have done SOMETHING. You know, it really doesn't make Disney look in the best of light when they're completely ignoring the few POC main characters they have in favour of repeating dolls of skinny white girls. The 17" line so far contains ONE. ONE!! No, Ursula and Maleficent don't count

AND ANOTHER THING. Since this Frozen release is showing that Disney can just slap the same character in another outfit and sell them through no problem, I want them to start doing that with other characters.

I want Tiana in her blue dress and tiara she borrows from Charlotte. One that would actually MAKE SENSE for her to have a puckering frog Naveen as an accessory.
I also want a Naveen to go with Tiana.
TWO of him in fact. One in his Bayou outfit to match Tiana's bayou gown and one in his 1920s flapper street clothes, with the adorable cap and his ukulele.
I also want a Charlotte in her massive pink ballgown though I'm not sure if it would fit horizontally in the current display box size

I want another Ariel in her pink dress/with legs. WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS WHEN TLM WAS RELEASED ALONG WITH MERMAID ARIEL TO BEGIN WITH. We would have has the Frozen hype started before TLM was released on bluray. I truly believe the skyrocketing popularity of these dolls post-Frozen is the reason we got both a pink and blue dressed Aurora.
I want an Ursula as Vanessa too. The more villains the merrier!

I want a Belle in her peasant dress, though I'm not sure if that dress can really be spruced up enough to justify making a 17" LE of it. I can't really see slapping rhinestones on it as making much sense...

I want a Cinderella that doesn't suck

And of course all the characters they should have been releasing when they had movie releases, or just for the hell of it (since that's a thing now, unless that's only a thing for Frozen)
Pocahontas (probably won't happen )
Mulan (also probably won't happen)
Esmeralda (never gonna happen)
Megara (haha, nope)
Jane (keep dreaming)

Wendy I could personally do without. They use the same body mold for all of these dolls, that is, an adult woman's body with hips and breasts. Wendy is prepubescent and she would just look weird as one of these dolls. You could say they did it for Alice but Alice and the QoH really were very much inspired by the live action Alice in Wonderland where Alice was an adult so until they do a live action Peter Pan with a grown-up Wendy (AND DON'T DOUBT THIS WILL HAPPEN IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS SINCE DISNEY IS PLANNING A LIVE ACTION DUMBO OF ALL THINGS- JUST, WHYYYY?????) she should probably be left out of this line.


Ahhh, I complain so much but at the end of the day Disney still gets a lot of my money. These dolls are always beautiful, even when they're completely unnecessary. Bring on the 3rd!
 

This comment is glorious :lol:. I think you pretty much covered every issue and complaint people have about this whole fiasco. On the positive side, this milking of the Frozen dolls combined with the multiple Auroras means that Disney isn't afraid of making multiple versions of future dolls, so maybe they will make a red dress Jasmine like people are hoping for.

I just hope the new Cinderella and Aladdin dolls are handled well. :anxious:

I, too, would LOVE two Jasmines but I would prefer her purple outfit to the red one as far as 17" dolls go. Not just cause purple is my favourite colour so I'm a little biased but also because her red outfit, as awesome as it is (DAT SNAKE ARMBAND) it's essentially a slave outfit. I dunno, just...a little disturbing since it's the outfit Jafar forced her to wear while she was in cuffs, then trying to make a wish for Jasmine to fall in love with him.... then there's all these non-consensual sexual undertones - very heavy stuff for a Disney film - associated with that outfit! I suppose IF that (in my opinion, silly and not a smart marketing move) designer line of Heroes vs. Villains comes to fruition THEN Jasmine should be in her red slave outfit and be paired with Jafar. That would make a lot more sense. I do love her hair while she's in that outfit...

But who am I kidding? Jasmine is a POC. We'll be lucky to get two dolls (Jasmine in traditional teal and Aladdin in his Prince Ali getup) related to the Aladdin bluray release, period
 
You make a good point on Jasmine's red dress. I do think its beautiful, but it really does have some dark meanings behind it when you step back and think about it. Still, even though the POC usually don't get a lot of special treatment, I do hope that Jasmine does get another doll of some kind seeing Aladdin is such a popular Disney film (even though I don't plan on getting her myself unless she blows my mind, as I really only want Aladdin right now). The success of those dolls could also prompt Disney to FINALLY release dolls of Mulan and Pocahontas in the future, though I have practically given up all hope of us ever getting dolls of them.

Then again, a lot of people thought we would never get a Tinkerbell or Alice doll either, so I guess anything is possible.
 
While I agree that the POC characters don't get much attention, I tend to think that there might be a reason for that. During the last Designer Collection release, 3 out of the 5 releases were POC dolls. And it took a very long time for those to sell out, Pocahontas and Mulan taking the longest. Cinderella and Briar Rose, on the other hand, went quickly. It seems like, with the exception of Jasmine and possibly Tiana, the POC dolls aren't as popular amongst the Disney Princess line. I don't know, maybe I'm off base with that, but if that is in fact the case, then it could be a very long time before we get an LE Mulan or Pocahontas.

That doesn't explain why the villains aren't getting love, though.

As far as the whole "slave dress" thing with Jasmine, yes, that scene contains dark undertones, but so do a lot of other Disney films. Judge Frollo's lust for Esmeralda was pretty dark - the song connected was called "Hellfire," for crying out loud! The Aladdin film is not alone on this count.

Oh no you are right on the fact about the POC. They really just don't sell well. I hear people say all of the time how much they love Pocahontas or Mulan, but in terms of merchandise, they never really sell well. That being said, I think it would be a smart idea to make 17 inch dolls of Mulan and Pocahontas. They, as of right now, are the only princesses to not be represented in the line not including the upcoming princess Moana. The 17 inch line is a lot more popular than the designer line (even more popular after the last Frozen dolls we got were released), usually resulting in the dolls selling out a lot faster and being in much higher demand on the secondary market. Even the most obscure character choices for dolls, like Sergeant Calhoun, sold out relatively quickly and go for quite a pretty penny on eBay. People feel like they are truly buying something special and getting their money's worth buying a $120 17 inch doll than they would paying $120 for a Designer doll set of two 12 inch dolls. If they can make a doll of Elsa in a dress that she wears for mere seconds to minutes and have it sell out also in mere seconds to minutes than they should have no problem selling dolls of Pocahontas and Mulan.

And no one said that Aladdin was the only Disney film with dark undertones. Anyone that even remotely likes Disney knows that most Disney films almost always have this kind of stuff. Princess K was just pointing out those dark undertones.

True, and if Disney was at all concerned about a 17 inch Mulan or Pocahontas not selling as well, they probably would reduce the edition number.
 
Hmm.... I could be way off on this but I think part of the reason why Mulan and Pocahontas aren't big sellers (apart from Disney's little attention to/marketing of them) is actually their storylines. A common complaint I hear from people is that Mulan isn't technically royalty and Pocahontas' storyline was completely destroyed by the second movie (which I refuse to watch), not to mention it was historically butchered. So whether it's Disney's fault or people are secretly racist is hard to say exactly. Probably a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B. Personally, I would love more POC LEs though. I jumped for DFDC Mulan and Tiana when they were released. XD Well anyway, whether they're "popular" princesses or not, LEs would definitely eventually sell. The LEs ALWAYS sell one way or another, especially now thanks to Frozen....
 
Disney is worried about the LEs going on sale. They get less money when they're on sale and so far, the ones that have gone on sale are the POC dolls.

I think the problem is that the people who constantly complain about the lack of POC merchandise don't have the financial means to buy them.
Also, the characters themselves don't sell. Disney knows that. They're not even sure how big the edition number has to be.
I'd say 500 is good enough for any of the LE dolls. Lol, not even sure if they'd sell out. Also, how can they glam up Pocahontas and Jane and make them worth $120?

Also, disney will only make 1 doll of each unless they are frozen characters or Aurora.
 
While it is true about the POC usually being the ones that go on sale, I still feel like the situation would be different for the 17 inch dolls. The interest in the 17 inch dolls has skyrocketed ever since the second set of Frozen dolls were released and they are a lot more popular than the Designer dolls, so I think they have a much better chance of selling out now than they would have a few years ago. Giving them a smaller edition size (maybe around 500 to 1500) would allow them to sell out quickly and lower the risk of them going on sale. Disney is aware that there is at least a demand for these characters, as otherwise they wouldn't have bothered putting them in the Fairytale Designer line. After giving us a Calhoun doll, two different Auroras, a Harrods set of Auroras, and a Fawn Designer with the possibility of a new live action Cinderella doll, I think anything is possible for future releases, though I do know that the chances are still very slim. But hey, I can always dream right?
 
The only reason why Disney included them in the designer line is because they would be called Racists if they didn't.
 

Ok, so Pocahontas fans please don't hurt me. But I've got to admit that Pocahontas is not the most enjoyable Disney movie for me to watch. Gumdrop Detective nailed it to a tee; I cannot stand some of the historical inaccuracies in Pocahontas, though I totally understand why Disney chose to write the movie that way to make it sellable to kids and family-friendly groups. In my opinion the sequel (which as a kid I watched) was simply a way for the original filmmakers to satisfy numerous complaints about the accuracy of the movie, whether it was because Pocahontas and John Smith never had a relationship and weren't even close in age, Powhatan and the settlers actually had relatively good relations until the Starving Time three years after the English arrived, or that Ratcliffe (who based on evidence was still the greedy, ruthless leader from the movie) was not the original appointed leader of the colony and even politically allied with John Smith for a whole year into the colonization of Jamestown. Oh, and if anyone wants to know what really happened to Ratcliffe, he was eventually killed by the Powhatans and never got the chance to return to England.

For me, my personal lack of interest in Pocahontas merchandise is not about race or even about not liking the movie (I do like the characters, especially Meeko and Percy!), but it just doesn't have the same appeal to me that other great Disney movies like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid do. As for Mulan, I still really enjoy the movie and she shouldn't be left out of either OE or LE merchandise just because she isn't a "real" princess. The Disney Princess line is simply the easiest way to make Mulan into a doll for kids; if she wasn't considered a Disney Princess I'd be afraid Disney would simply never put out any merchandise for her (that's the case for Jane and Esmeralda, is it not?). And while the POC dolls may not sell well in LE form, I believe Disney could simply lower edition sizes if they fear badly enough they would not sell out.
 
I really think at this point it doesn't matter what doll they put out in the 17 inch form it will get sold out not matter what. true some take longer than others but even phillip is now sold out, so Disney will make their money no matter what. Because of the frozen dolls its called major attention to this line and while they have been playing with the edition sizes to be safe they should just make them around 2 or 3,000 and they will all still sell.
 
Things might change for the Pocahontas/Jasmine/Mulan merchandise as the people who actually grew up with those movies start making up more of the consumers. Nostalgia will do some good things; it's just gonna take a little time.
 
Unfortunately the POC don't seem to be as popular as the other princesses. With the exception of Jasmine, they don't really fair to well as far as merchandise goes. Pocahontas and Mulan have been "official" princesses from the beginning but have barely ever ben featured. They have actually been featured more in the last 5 or 6 years due to all the new princesses being added. And Tiana just never caught on like Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna have.

I think in the case of Pocahontas and Tiana most people view their films as disappointments. They didn't flop but they weren't the mega hits that the company was hoping for. As people have said a lot of people take issue with the historical inaccuracies of Pocahontas. I never really had a problem with it. It is a Disney movie after all not a documentary. Also people blame Poca for being the beginning of the end of the Disney Renaissance. As for Princess and the Frog it was suppose to be the return of traditional animation but it wasn't a huge hit. As for Mulan I think her biggest issue is that she is not a princess and people feel she should not be included at all.

But still Pocahontas and Mulan deserve LE dolls. If they can do 3 outfits each for Elsa and Anna they can make one doll for other characters. I still want to see other princesses in different outfits. I would love Cinderella and Ariel in their wedding dresses. Belle in her Something There outfit. I would prefer Jasmine in her purple dress but they could do two of her. Tiana has a ton of lovely outfits they could use.

And more villains. They should have done Cruella. We definitely need an Evil Queen. Yzma is screaming to be made. And male villains like Jafar, Hook, Facilier, Gaston, Hades, Frollo. Plus other characters Megara, Esmeralda, Jane, Kida. The Blue Fairy would be stunning.
 
'Surprise' releases normally still get some sort of announcement, right? If there is a Hans with this newest LE batch, when would that announcement be...?
