DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
I really can't understand this grouching about the Frozen LEs.... You don't like them? Than don't get them! There are still many collectors out there who didn't have the opportunity to get the november or march released dolls and this is a chance for them to get some Frozen LEs. Disney doesn't force anyone to get ALL the LE dolls! And because of the Frozen dolls nothing else was cancelled! There were never plans to release a Cruella and BH6 LE dolls... there will be still Alladin dolls in autum, because they were planed. And BH6 wasn't released, instead Cinderella merch is released. The Frozen LE dolls are additional dolls they produce and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with launching a product people love. And people love Frozen. Yes, they STILL love it.
I do too by the way... ;)

Today. If they were to announce it, it would be today.

Thank you, that's what I thought! And we haven't had an absolutely no prior warning release in years, right?

I really do hope he gets announced today, I don't think I can handle this stress for much longer, lol.

THANK YOU !!!!!! My thoughts exactly. This gives more people a chance to get a "Frozen" doll if they missed out. I want all 3 just because I LOVE Frozen (Although The Little Mermaid is my favorite), and if they release more for Frozen Fever I would want those as well! I just hope I can get these upcoming 3 dolls next week. I really love these 17 inch dolls, so it is hard for me to pass them up anyways! I am a lover of art, so I don't take my dolls out of their box because I love the artwork in the box, so if they make a LOT more, I will definitely have to consider taking them out of their box, or limit myself to my favorites. Sometimes I think people forget that Disney is a company that is trying to make money, and they are going to do it with something they can most likely predict will make them money, and Frozen is a given. I am just really HOPING that they make Frozen Fever LE Dolls, I LOVE their dresses!

Thank you thank you thank you for your comments, lulemee. :)

While everyone has a right to their own opinion, I see nothing wrong with a third set of Frozen dolls. While it is clearly a for-profit move on Disney's part to release the set after Anna and Elsa have each had two dolls, Disney makes each and every one of their LE dolls, from the very first 17'' Snow White to this new Frozen set, for profit; giving fans the satisfaction of having them is only a part of the reason they make them. That's not to say that there aren't a lot of other dolls I wish Disney would make, but while we and a lot of other dedicated fans think of re-releasing Frozen as a slight to all the less popular characters who haven't gotten an LE doll yet, for them it's strictly business.

And while I understand the gripes from long-time collectors (I consider myself a collector too, I just got started a lot later than most here) :) about how Frozen has already had four LE dolls, all of them are at least twice as much as retail now on the secondhand market (over ten times retail if one is referring to either doll in the November set). I see at least three or four people a day practically begging for a Snow Queen Elsa below $1000, when there are 10 or so of that same doll for $2000+ on eBay. Not to mention all the people who frequent collectors' pages to sell their dolls for hundreds (sometimes a couple thousand) more than they paid. All of that said: it's a little tough for us "newbies" to buy the November dolls and others that have already been released courtesy of scalpers and eBay greed; thankfully Disney has given its fans yet another chance to own the characters even if they're not in their most iconic outfits.

And also like lulemee commented, I don't think either this set or Frozen Fever dolls (should they happen) will throw a wrench into LE Aladdin dolls. Aladdin and Jasmine are simply too loved for that to happen! :D Between this new set, whatever Cinderella may bring, and the Aladdin Diamond Edition, it's going to be a very fun year for the LE dolls.

hello, a newbie here. :)

Do the uk frozen dolls also come out on 4 march? at 10 o clock?
and do you guys will post a link for the dolls?
and the last question. is it smart to buy 1 doll each time. not anna en elsa both and then check out. because in the US i was so fast I could easily buy 2 dolls if I would not panic at that time.

I totally agree with lulemee because i could not get the US exclusive frozen dolls so i am happy!

So this year I'm going to go in store to get a doll which I've never tried before... So suggestions/comments/advice is much appreciated. My store opens at 10am and I'm thinking of showing up around 7 or 7:30 (not sure when my mall is open to public...)

what do do any doll veterans think?
Ive only ever been at the store for sleeping beauty at opening and we had at least 10-12 people so I'm willing to bet there will be a big turn out...

I usually do in-store purchases for the LE dolls, simply because it's the first opportunity. You definitely want to get there early, but as to how early you should arrive seems to depend on a number of factors. My own experience suggests that, at my local store, not too many people either know about the LE sales or are able to afford it, so I can arrive even a half an hour before and be guaranteed a doll, though this depends on the second factor. That second factor is the popularity of the release. The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast are still big, so anything to do with Belle and Ariel ends up being a huge turnout for me. The Sleeping Beauty LE sales had a decent turnout, as well, though not enough for them to start lining up at the early hours of the morning, so I got there an hour before store opening and was the first online. Frozen is on the high popularity side, so take that into consideration. Finally, if possible, see if you can get someone to go with you. They may not want the doll, but having backup support never hurts when you're trying to secure an LE and there are only so many to go around.

These dolls don't look any better in person so if you think it's disneys stock photography... It's really not. I still love them but I wasn't blown away. I do love Kristoffs box tho.

I like them but they are not my favorite versions of Anna and Elsa. How did you get to see them in person?

I'm guessing they've arrived at yours tore? Sooo... definitely no Hans with this release?

I wouldn't give up on him yet. Hans is still considered a Disney villain, and villains are always surprise releases, so I wouldn't give up yet. That being said, it is very possible that they could wait to release a Hans doll later in the year when Frozen Fever is included on a Blu-ray of some sort (with the inevitable Frozen Fever dolls and possible Blu-ray re-release of the original film with a bunch of new extras).

EDIT: I forgot that the surprise release dolls are usually announced a week early. Soooo he may not be coming out Tuesday after all unless they announce him Thursday or Friday or a day before like they did for some of the earlier villain releases.

I'm thinking I'm going to just get Anna because outside of her hair I actually really like this doll (even though I would have loveddddd a frozen fever Anna soooo much more)... Elsa and kristoff I'm thinking I can do without... But I'll decide when I see them in person I suppose.

haha, thanks. Hans is my favorite disney character so I'm just... antsy about the fact he hasn't officially been announced yet! I know RDC is reliable, but still, you'd think we'd know for sure by now ... oh well. Nothing to do but wait.

Seems as if RDC has retracted its announcement about the LE Hans doll....http://radiodisneyclub.fr/poupee-limitee-hans-reine-neiges/

The message at the top seems to be an apology for the error.

EDIT 02/14/2015: It would seem that our source, yet very reliable so far, has been misled and therefore no limited Hans doll will come out on March 3, 2015. Therefore, we apologize for the false joy created with many people, if this incident we deplore, is confirmed in the coming days.

Well darn. That sucks to hear. I still think that maybe he will be released later on seeing this obviously isn't the last set of Frozen dolls we will be getting, and they could have just gotten the date wrong.

But now I am worried that they might have been wrong about the Cinderella doll too. I really hope not. Granted the Hans doll was "leaked" by them only a few weeks ago while everything else was leaked by them months in advance. They ended up being right about everything else (even the questionable clothing choices for the Frozen dolls) but I can't help but be a little concerned now.

I almost want to say he could still be announced tomorrow; Disney announced both Fawn and this new set on Thursdays, so maybe they just changed the day of the week they make the announcements? :D I really don't want to give up on him yet!

i just had to double check this myself, but for the UK the frozen dolls come online at 8am on the 3rd march, so next Tuesday, I can't wait but I'm also nervous, I completely missed out on the march ones last year even though I was up at 6am for them! I am kinda hoping no one wants these ones!

Welllll, I think forums are generally where fans / collectors go to share their opinions. In this case, I (for one) am upset that this line of dolls that I love is beginning to stray from its integrity. We should feel as free to discuss when something goes wrong as we do when something goes right. I share my opinion on here in the hopes that the powers that be will take note.

As much as (the few) people say they love these new Frozen dolls, I'm sure they much prefer the 2013 release or even 2014 since these actually comply with the quality standard of the LE line. The 2015 dolls are almost a poor substitute for those who missed out on the previous releases. As for your suggestion, I won't be getting them, so I agree to that. The worst part is, many who don't really love these dolls will still buy them, perpetuating the idea that Disney can pump out anything Frozen and it'll sell.

However, I'll digress to say I'm sincerely happy for any who missed out on the previous releases and truly love these as a substitute. My bias is off because I managed to buy the 4 previous Frozen dolls in store (so my opinion isn't totally fair in that regard, I'll admit).

But let's be honest about one thing: dolls ARE being overlooked because of these Frozen releases. We can't really believe BH6 wouldn't have had a LE doll. It's the FIRST theatrical release NOT to get a doll since this line started. Even WIR got Calhoun, so there's no excuse other than production lines being tied up with Frozen dolls. I understand the business side of it, that Disney needs to go where the demand is, but that just makes this Frozen phenomenon more frustrating as a DISNEY fan (not just Frozen). It's possible there never would've been a Cruella doll, but we're all just expressing that there SHOULD have been because she's a classic villain worthy of more than she got with her diamond release.

*Also, I'd like to add that I hope none of my comments came across as a personal attack. We're all adults discussing opinions. I don't think there's anything wrong with loving these dolls or wanting them or expressing it; I just don't feel the same way about them.

I totally agree with everything you just said^ Personally I'm going to try for Anna because I do like that outfit but Elsa not so much she really is a poor substitute- think will just save for Sq Elsa. I really want a Cruella and Evil Queen doll:( Those two with Maleficent would look amazing!

I think it all depends on how they look in person. The Anna is going to be stunning no matter what, I mean she's so beautiful in the stock photo. I like Elsa's jacket, but not really the dress. As far as Kristoff goes, I'm waiting to see him in person before purchasing. As cute as Anna and Kristoff would be together, I would prefer to not that much money this time around unless the new Cinderella comes out next week as well.

I think that unless I collect that particular character or series, I'm trying to keep my collection down by only getting the doll if it surpasses the previous one I have. I preordered the pink Aurora, however the blue Aurora's dress looks more stunning and visually pleasing to me, so I deboxed my Blue one. I don't necessarily believe that the new Elsa surpasses my coronation Elsa, so I'll probably just stick to her in her coronation gown. That's the dress I liked best from the movie after all.
