So, because I have decided to return pins to a scrapper/counterfeit seller, I have been put on a do not sell to list that other sellers of REAL pins look at. Has anyone else had this experience?
 
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????? what:shock: say what :rant: are you freakin kidding me? i am interested to hear more from the seasoned traders on this. i have NEVER heard of this. I have returned scrappers 5 times over 2 years on Ebay and didnt even know of a list....srew that. If you logged a complaint and returned product how are YOU on a list?
 
Sellers have been doing that for years. Ever since they stopped being able to leave negative feedback. I used to sell on E bay years ago and had a blocked buyers list. You can put the list on your account and no one on the list can bid or buy from you. I used to block people who didn't pay.

It's one way sellers can protect themselves from bad buyers.
 
I believe what t.he OP is referring would be part of the seller's forum. Seller's have always been able to post poor experiences with buyers there to the best of my knowledge, even before the feedback policy changes for sellers.
 
You can block people with incompleted transactions in their history, if you chose to "cancel" the transaction for the scrappers you may be blocked. When you list, it is in the payment section under "Buyer Requirements." It only takes 2 incomplete transactions so if you bought, say, 2 or 3 lots of scrappers in seperate auctions that would do it.
 
Nope, paid, got the pins then asked for a refund on scrappers. This resulted in them blocking me from their actions which apparently automatically puts you on a bad person list I guess.

nono... if they block you from their auctions it is not a public thing. They can talk about you on their forum, but the block doesnt make other sellers avoid you. Other sellers cannot see that you are blocked on standard ebay stuffs. only in the sellers forum if the seller discusses you. Which honestly... a seller of counterfiets is not going to tell other people they got a return of scrappers.
 
I only had one person block me on ebay because I made a stink about the pin being a scrapper. I am sure he was also a bit P/O that I wouldn't return the pin because I didn't want him to sell it to someone else.
 
I bet I know who this seller is. If it's the one I'm thinking of, they have a track record of being VERY nasty and immature to anyone who calls them out on their scrappers/leaves negative or neutral feedback... They tend to be notorious for bulk selling pins too :suspect: Very unfortunate that you had to deal with this person (or someone of this caliber)
 
If someone put you on a list like that then the only sellers that would care would be the ones that are selling scrappers. Sellers of real pins know about that market and I doubt would put any type of thought into a list such as that from a scrapper seller. I would consider it a blessing because if they don't want to sell to you, then they are obviously bad pins and saves you the trouble of a return.
 
i think this may have happened to me once upon a time (lol unintended pun, but see what i did there?) when i first started trading/buying a couple of years ago. seeing your post made it click in my head that it may have been this scenario. The very first week we started out, we purchased a pin lot to use as traders, not knowing a blessed thing about scrappers/counterfeits at that time. The very next week, after our first trading weekend at the park, and armed with a ton more knowledge than we had had the week before, i contacted the seller and asked for a refund, letting the seller know i would be throwing these pins away, as they were not authentic. They did so with no problem, but then a few months later, when i was trying to bid on a pin i wanted very much, i got some sort of message saying that i couldn't buy pins from this seller (it was a different ebay seller name, side note). i never could figure out why that was, since i had never bought from that seller before. now this thread makes me wonder...
 
If you get scrappers from someone selling them deliberately on eBay, _don't_ offer to just return it to them. File a complaint directly with eBay/PayPal claiming the item is 'signficantly not as described' with further details to indicate it's counterfeit (if Disney did not specifically authorize the original sale of the pin, it's counterfeit, regardless of the details of how it was manufactured. i.e., scrappers...) (Don't use the term 'scrapper', they probably don't know what that means. Just tell them it's counterfeit and indicate any tells that prove this.)

PayPal (or eBay) should require you to return the counterfeit item to THEM, and they will require the seller to give you a refund. They will then destroy the counterfeit item (it will NOT be returned to the seller). If this happens a couple of times, their accounts will be cancelled on both services.

(Obviously, make sure it's not someone that just sold one by accident (and make certain it really is a fake/scrapper)... But if someone is doing it deliberately, this is likely the only way to really stop them... And especially if it really is a counterfeit/fake pin (vs. a scrapper rejected by the manufacturing plant), this should definitely be done.)
 
I'm on two lists there, lol...one scrapper lot I got and was assured they weren't before the purchase another is from an argument I had with a seller over an agreed upon deal, who then backed out if it and subsequently barred me from future bids.
 
I've had sellers ban me from their auctions because they didn't like the neutral or negative feedback I've left, but I didn't know that there was some sort of "do not sell to list." That's crazy! I think someone said it best though, if a someone is deliberately selling scrappers/counterfeit pins than they probably have a reputation and I can't imagine that legitimate sellers would care what they have to say and as far as the for bad sellers that do listen, we shouldn't be wanting to buy from them anyway if they're selling scrappers. I do agree as well that if you're sold scrappers/counterfeits do not return them to the seller. Ebay does not require you to return an item in order to issue a refund, particularly if you've opened a dispute because the item was not as described. I also don't think that just because a seller gives you a full refund that you need to leave them positive feedback, regardless of whether they issued you a refund they still sold you bad pins and failed to mention it, and until we start leaving negative feedback for those sellers that sell scrappers/counterfeits they're just going to continue, we need to affect their bottom line (their profit margin) in order to stop this kind of thing from happening.

And this is how misinformation spreads. This thread's originator is blocked from an eBay sellers auctions and thus assumes he's now on some mystery "Do Not Sell" list. He then posts it and works others up into a frenzy.

There is no list. Each seller can block anyone they want for any reason. This list is only seen by the seller and workers at eBay (maybe). We do know there are forums and it is possible problem bidders are talked about there. But that is it. Sellers can also block bidders that fall within certain programmed criteria.

Lets all be careful to not post ignorance. Do the research or ask questions before creating posts to rile folks up.

Also be careful about not sending back scrappers you may have been sold. Bidders may not be able to get their money back unless they return the item sold. And not every pin accused of being a scrapper is one. A couple years ago I sold two DA pins on eBay and the buyer accused me of selling fake pins. The only problem was the pins I sold had no history of any fakes being produced or claimed, and the pins were bought personally by me from Disney Auctions. But because I didn't have them on their original cards (I'm an old time collector so many of use didn't care about cards, just the pins), the buyer thought they were fake. I laugh at how many people must cheat themselves out of legitimate pins because of their paranoia.

Actually they do. To get your refund you have to give eBay proof you have sent the item back. It also depends on the return policy of each seller.
 
@Dalisair How did you find this out, was it via PM from the seller or a more authentic communication ie from EBay itself?

In all the years my family and I have sold/bought stuff on eBay, I've never heard of this.
As other folks have said, yes, the seller can block you, and in my humble opinion you're probably best off not buying from them again anyway!
It's also true that they can discuss issues they've had with a transaction, but they are not permitted to name and/or badmouth individuals for any reason. You can report them for this.

So as I said, unless this came from eBay itself, I would guess its not true. Anybody able to shed anymore light on it?
 

Respectfully, and I'm not trying to start a feud here or anything, I don't think anyone is "frenzied", we're not cattle The majority of posts were people attempting to understand/give condolences/possible reasoning for the situation he dealt with. In defense of the OP, he also wasn't making a misinformed statement but was rather asking a question. He was uncertain if this scenario had in fact happened to anyone else. I've also taken noticed of a couple of Ebay sellers who block their customers who leave legitimate bad or neutral feedback to warn others (feedback not left by just one person claiming to have been issued a scrapper but many, though you are right too, mistakes happen once in a while but not usually with multiple complaints). Still, good to know the facts and have it cleared up but I like many others' advice. Even if such a "list" were real, no reputable seller would probably pay that much attention to such a list when made by another seller who has repeated complaints of scrappers. No real harm done by this post in my opinion, just someone asking a question

How can I find out who the seller is, so I don't waste my time with them? My only concern would be being blocked from sellers that you never bought from in the first place. Call eBay and get it cleared up. My experience has been, the seller will refund your money and tell you to throw it away or send it back. I've had my share of buying bad pins

Since educating myself, I ask lots of questions, like:
Actually Pics of front/back, shinny/dull, if there are remarks on pinpics about bad pins with descriptions, I'll ask in more detail. If they say no returns, then I'll ask them do they have a problem refunding after my inspection. Make sure you keep a copy of the email though!!!!

Forgive me, I did not mean to imply everyone was "frenzied" but there were some who were and things like that tend to be contagious as misinformation spreads.

He made a statement in his post that he was put on a Do Not Sell List that other sellers look at and wondered if anyone else had. The first part of that statement is completely false. There is no list that other sellers look at. He was blocked by one seller and unless that seller publishes his username in some seller's forum somewhere, no one else knows that he was blocked nor by whom.
