Hello~

So I was reading Molly's awesome thread, about her first in-person pin trade, which was totally awesome! <3

It got me thinking about my first pin trade. Last time I was in Disney World (last April), I had brought with me two or three lanyards full of pins. I had never done pin trading before but I was really excited to try it out. I took one lanyard with me from my hotel room on Disney property. My mom and I went to stand in line for a shuttle to the Magic Kingdom. There was a sweet little girl behind us with her mother, who was very chatty. She had pretty long blonde hair and was wearing a Rapunzel dress (of course, right?). She turned and saw that I had a lanyard on and her face just lit up. She went completely off the wall talking about pins, it was so adorable! She pulled out her pin trading bag (this girl was serious business!) and showed me a few of her pins. She goes, "These are my keepers, I got this one from the captain on the cruise ship" and went on to explain every one of them. And she was so knowledgable, it was admirable. I didn't even know about half the stuff she was talking about at the time.

We boarded the bus and she asked to see my lanyard. I had a Chef Mickey pin and she got very excited. She and her mother were going there for lunch or dinner, I can't remember now, but she wanted the pin very badly! She asked if we could trade. I said sure, why not? And she opened her pin bag again and showed me her traders page. I picked a baby Mulan pin because I thought it was adorable. I put the pin on my "keeper lanyard" which was tucked away in my bag. The girl was so giddy and excited, it was amazing. She told me her name was Sydney, that she was eight years old, and that her and her mother were from Michigan (which is where I am from! What a coincidence lol). Our families got to talking the whole way to the Magic Kingdom. When we got off the shuttle, Sydney asked if she and her mom could hang out with us all day! It was really cute of her to do so, and we walked together to Space Mountain (while stopping for some cast member pin trades along the way!). When the fast passes weren't being distributed however, we decided to part ways (she was off to hunt down Rapunzel!). We did run into each other again later on, and she was just as friendly then!

Anyway, long story short, it was a really magical and sweet first experience. Kind of odd to not trade with a cast member for the first time trading, but I wouldn't trade the experience for the world. I will never get rid of the baby Mulan pin, it has a place of honor on my pin board!

So, what about you all? Anyone have any stories of their first pin trades they would like to share?

Pin Trading Event at My D Pins after just getting the newly released DSF Hollywood star pins (first pin purchasing as well). Traded a Hollywood Star Stitch for a Stitch pin that I can't even remember anymore... Sad story. Haha

First trade I ever made...
I started pin trading in January 2011, right when the Snow White PODM came out and it was the first pin I ever purchased. My mom and I got 4 of them but we had absolutely no idea about the value of them.
Anyway to make a long story short after purchasing all the PODMs for each month when summer of 2011 came around I hadn't actually traded yet. I went to the tables for the first time and someone wanted my Snow White PODM and they had some alphabet hidden mickeys that I wanted. Not knowing the value of the Snow White PODM I traded it for 4 alphabet hidden mickeys.... woops

My first pin trade was on August 27, 2012 at WDW. I knew about pin trading with the CM's but had no idea how much farther it went from that. LOL!

I bought the PWP lanyards for my two younger daughters. My purpose was that my 12yo wasn't all that thrilled to be there. She had no interest in getting pictures or autographs with the characters so i got her a lanyard thinking she would enjoy pin trading. Since I got her one I had to get the younger daughter one too. After a few hours My older daughter and I saw how much fun they were having so we got lanyards as well. At first I was being picky as i wanted to trade for a pin that really caught my eye. My first trade was for this pin:

Pin 77632: Mickey and Minnie Mouse - Safety Pins (Mickey ONLY)

I found it fitting considering I sell cloth diapers for a living. Yes it is a scrapper but I don't care. It is on my bulletin board in my office. :)

I enjoyed reading about your first pin trade :D. Sydney sounded really sweet :).

My first pin trade was when I was a little kid, so I'm not gonna remember all of it XD(Plus, my memory isn't the best...). It was with a cast member, and the pin I got from them was a black and white pin with Mickey and Minnie on it. I'm not sure what the name of the pin was and I traded it a long time ago, so I'm not sure about all the other details on it.

Even though I don't remember much, it was an enjoyable experience :). The cast member was really funny and nice!

I actually do remember my first park trade, and my first Pinpics trade. The Pinpics one came first, and it was one of the DL 30th Gift giver pins for another one of the same series. I traded with someone who then I got to know on LaughingPlace.com's message boards in the years to come. He gave up trading after about a year, but we would chat about other Disney things.

My first in park trade, I traded with a lady, who was wearing a button or patch that had her Pinpics and message board posting name on it outside the Frontierland pin cart at Disneyland. I recognized it right off, but I didn't say anything because I didn't think she would have a clue who I was. I'm not sure if she is still an active trader, because her Pinpics hasn't been updated since 2008. But old-timers may recognize the name, Debbie - EpcotKilterFan. I don't know what I traded, but all I would have had in July 2000 would have been Disney Store pins from the Millennium series, but the pin I traded for was [pinpics]30637[/pinpics].

My first park trading experience was really fun. One of the main reasons I actually started to buy pins was the Wreck it Ralph Vanelope pin from the DSF. I saw it that night when I went to see the movie but they had sold out. Right after that, I thought it'd be fun to do pin trading when I go to WDW this summer and started to buy up some of the special pins that cast members can get, including the wdi pins that I heard about on this forum. So my first time seriously trading, I ended up meeting a very sweet couple outside of the Little green men shop and traded one of my Jessicas for it! I met the couple again at PTN and got my rapunzel <3 box from them! :D I think I'm going to end up looking forward to trading to them again and again whenever I see them. They were a fun couple!

I haven't had the chance yet to do any trading in the parks but I do remember my first trade well. Online, with TiggerMickey! I traded two toddler princesses for one toddler Peter Pan and a Captain Hook in a crystal ball HM. I'm not a big princess collector and even though I don't care much for Peter Pan, either, I have a small collection for certain Pan pins in honor of my sisters, who are obsessed with the J.M. Barrie stories, not just the Disney adaptation. It was an awesome trade, by the way, and I've traded with Judy quite a few times since then. She's probably one of the best traders here.

I went to isneyland hellbent on trading with castmember but almost everything I got was a scrapper, I did get the CM exlusive pascal which I did my first trade on here with, wich was with Hollie & Karl for the uk exclusive hercules and zeus pin. Talk about starting with a bang :D I have since been luck enough to get to know them better & have traded with them in person ^^
