DSF Marquee Question.

That happenes with pin trading, i had like 6 of the tangled openning day one when they first got release and trade them away easily in the beggining, and look how highly wanted it became. i was able to trade the one i keep for 2 great LE 100 pins but imagined what i could have got if i had all 6 right now in my hands, lol. oh well, life is full of choices and mine back them was to trade them away, you never know how wanted a pin can become...
i however don't regret trading them away a year ago because they went to really nice people who have helped acquire some of my lion king pins from DSF.
 

I have a few pins where I have it listed as own, trades, and wants. If it is a good pin and I know I can always get something good for it, I will list it as a wants just to get more trade offers. I don't think I have any marquee's like that, but I do have a few pins like the DLP Rapunzel rack pin for example. Easy to trade for and add as an upper to DLP trades and very easy to trade away here in the states for a decent LE.
 
I'm in the process if selling some of my collection (youngest son is in braces ) and already put some up on ebay... but am really struggling with parting with my Wall-e Marquee and my Enchanted one. But then (and this is horrible!) I did a search on how much money I could sell them for. I saw Wall-E for a little over $200... but couldn't find a history for Enchanted. Anyone have any ideas?
 
Just traded for sleeping beauty! Woooo! super excited! I am really really looking for these ones if anyone wants to trade or sell:

1. ratatouille (shouldn't even be hard right?? ha!)
2. enchanted


P.S. I can't believe they didnt make princess and the frog?? What's that all about??!!! How do you just skip one? A recent one at that! There is no aladdin either right? Dumb.
 
That Oliver marquee is the bane of my existance. I am starting to think I'm never gunna have it. Which makes me really sad but what can ya do? More people want every marquee, and it means there's more strain on the smaller movies, that people don't actually collect! I personally have 2 marquees and both are in my collections, lady and the tramp and bolt, the Oliver marquee is the only one I want because I collect Oliver, it sucks that lots of other people want it just so they can have every marquee. And knowing how the marquee craze is right now I am guessing if it shows up on the bay some nutter will grab it up for fiftymajillion Wong...

I did however notice that the trades for Oliver went up by 2 so hopefully that means there are still some in circulation.
 
I've been out of the active pin community for a while now.... when did the marquees become so popular??? I remember buying up a lot of the Ratatoiulle marquee pins for $5.00 each and them sending them out as pin zaps.
 
I don't know what people are smoking and they are apparently not very savvy at eBay. There was a BatB marquee listed for $45 buy-it-now and then it auctioned for over $55, then someone bought the BIN. I saw the same thing happen with a pin trader delight. It sold for $45 but there is still one listed for $29.99 BIN. Do people not even know how to use eBay search? They bid against each other $15 higher than they could have bought it for no hastle.
The Tron marquee was never more than $50 until maybe March. They were listed all day long for $35-$45 last year. I think with the increase in popularity of DSF pins in general the Marquee's have really skyrocketed. I think they are very collectible and I'm glad I started a year ago with the Marquees I have. At these prices I won't get any more of my most wanted until the hungry newbs fill up either their collection or their credit cards!
 
I am not a Marquee person, per se. I see the appeal in the series, but it is just not my cup of tea, so to speak. I know I have been trying to get my hands on the Avengers Marquee, because if Disney ever starts doing pins that I would collect, i.e. Disney Characters as Marvel Heroes/Villains and vice versa, I would want that Marquee as the center piece in my Marvel Pin Book (the DSF comic book covers were just eh, IMO). I have tried offering DA100s, LE250s, multiple pins, etc, and no one is either will to trade, or they want to trade the entire set of Marvel, which I do not want. I think some people have unrealistic values on some of these new Marquees, which is driving the entire sub class of pins higher and higher.
 

The Avengers marquee plummeted in value once Brave came out. The last one sold in auction formate for $51.
 
I (and my 3 sons) all have pin collections stored in various parts of our house. You have no idea how hard they're all seaching for the marquees that they have. lol My 12 year old's Meet the Robinsons marquee is a little damaged (the 3d element came off) and he's trying to figure out how to fix it. So funny! I'm figuring he can try to sell it 'as is' as I'm POSITIVE there are handier people out there than us.
They are neat pins and I enjoy having them in my collection as a centerpiece for the movies. But wow... the prices on them!!
 

Yeah that is the same reason I am holding on to an Avengers set for myself. If Disney brings out Marvel pins I am ALL over that! The set I have for trade has been hard to part with and not because I value it at a ridiculous amount but because its probably one of my best shots at getting HTF Lion King pins for me haha. I haven't been offered that much for a Marquee though. I understand trying to trade as a set because I feel that for me, It would be a lot easier to trade it for a valuable LK pin.

Totally agree on new pins driving the older pins up in value though. I also think the spike in price with new Marquees has to do with the fact that they are harder to get than before when you would just have to show up early the day of the release. Now you have to show up practically a day before! instead of just leaving work early you have to basically as for two days off or one if you're lucky. I guess that's what has driven the price of these new pins way up.

I know! I had a pile of them in my trading bag at one time. I've had my kids go through everything just looking for *one* more. No luck yet though...
 
Is Sky High a marquee?

Is this pin:
Pin 40484: DSF - Sky High The El Capitan Theatre Hollywood

considered the marquee for the movie?
 
It is the only pin released by DSF for Sky High with the words 'El Capitan Theatre' on it. That's about the limit of it's official status as a marquee...

Other than that, it's really up to the collector. It doesn't have an image of the actual theater marquee on it, so I suppose technically, it's not. But, if they had thought of the 'marquee' design before Sky High came out, I'm sure it would have been on one...

I have it in my collection, in my display case (it's even in the Avatar image if you can make it out). But I don't really see a problem with a marquee collection not having this pin. Going strictly by design, it doesn't fit. But it is what the DSF released as a 'marquee' pin for that film.
 

The person that runs the marquee group only counts pins for movies in the collection. They do not have Mickey & Minnie's 80th anniv marquee or Chip & Dale 2008 new year. I consider those marquee's before Sky High since they acutally have the marquee and not just the words.
 
Old threads with memory space on the Forum tend to be deleted after a while. I think this thread was about 8 month ago?

And remembering that alot has happen between then and now where some Marquees skyrocketed and some gained more value.
