Afternoon All!

We were wondering how the DSF Releases work because we want an Avengers Marquee and other releases that happen in the future. We've never been before and would love any tips, Information, and your personal input on how it works, what to do, and how to get those desired pins :)

Thanks in Advence!

Hello! DSF releases aren't too crazy (USUALLY). It depends on the pins. But the people are pretty mellow, we line up in the alley way next to the soda fountain. It depends on the release, but sometimes people don't start lining up until 5 or so in the morning, and of course there are some camp out ones where people get there at 11pm the night before

For the Beloved Tales release this past January, I didn't see anyone lining up until about 10-15 minutes before the 9:30 a.m. release (at DSF).

WOW! I wasn't at that release, but I've never seen people wait that long! The latest I've need people line up is around 7-7:30ish. By 9 there are usually a good 80 people or so for not super popular releases

unless its a crazy LE 150, getting there around 9 is fine. You'll have to wait about an hour (ish) in line but you there will be more than enough pins. In most cases you could even wait until like 10-10:30 then the line is almost gone and you can just walk right in. Depends on what pins are being released. The avengers are all 300's so anytime around opening will be fine ;) The ONLY DSF pin I have not gotten directly from DSF was the UP valentine set because everyone overhyped it and people decided to go to hollywood at like 8:00 PM the night before...and I don't ever get there before 9:00. I need sleep!! ha!

That one was crazy! People were actually there around 4pm sitting and waiting in their cars.

Okay. So 8:30 am would be okay then? And do they give out wristbands or a voucher? We want to be prepeared! lol

for really big releases (like the up ones) they hand out a small red raffle ticket and exchange it for a voucher at about 9am. For smaller ones they either just hand out the voucher at 9am or don't hand out anything at all

Do you think the storybook releases will be bad? Never been to a dsf release either. Hoping to perhaps go and pick up the books.

The pins are LE300, but they only had 150 of them at the store. The other 150 were at the Disneyana convention occurring in Anaheim (near DLR). I know they weren't there that long because I was in the store around 8:15/8:30 a.m. (for Breakfast with Belle since we had bought tickets for that event and Beauty & the Beast 3D). When I saw the line starting to form around 9:15 (maybe it was 9 am), I inquired whether I had to go back outside to wait in line or if it was okay to stay inside [breakfast was supposed to start at 8 am and I don't think we got in til 8:15-8:30 and didn't get done until close to 9:30 a.m.) The CMs said it was fine to be inside and I could be first in line. There wasn't that long of a line outside (I think maybe 10-15 people max) so I did hear that people went through the line more than once.

Story books will be an overnight stay I think. Maybe one or two books will make it past the first 150 people on line but I wouldn't chance it. The Avwnger pins I'd get there before 7am if you want to make sure you get a set. The 2.5 hour wait goes quick and you may be able to pin trade. I think the perfume bottles will be around until 11am or so, the Jessica will go first around 11am probably. Tink in the afternoon and the Evil Queen sometime over the weekend.

Unless its a hugely anticipated release they usually have pins availble most of the day. Even with the Jessica Decades pins you could have joined the line at 9 and still gotten a set. As has been said it just depends on whether or not there are MUST HAVE PINS at the release, and of course how bad you want them, lol.

I have yet to go at the crack of dawn and always had success...but then again I don't collect Up! :p

Yikes! Do you really think so? I'm still trying to get the day off at work but I'm not sure how well I will fare if I have to camp out overnight. So much for hoping I could show up at about 5 or 6 in the morning.

I may be wrong but I sincerely doubt the books require an overnight stay~ early morning for sure (thanks a lot Up! lol) but I can't see over 100 people camping out. Though pinsanity never cease to amaze....

I am surprised no one else has offered this pearl...

Call 323-817-1475 the night before the release date. Their hours are until 9pm on weeknights, and 10pm Fri/Sat.

I just spoke with a CM and there are a whopping TWO people in line at this time for tomorrow's release.

There is big difference in lines between a Friday release and a Saturday release. I guess because of school or work, there is a smaller line for Friday releases. I usually arrive between 10 and 11 am, and there usually is a small line.

Hello, new person here as well :)

Another question also pertaining to DSF releases: Parking - where to go?

I've only been to one release day previous. It was for a not so very incredibly anticipated release - April's Chip & Dale in varying costumes - thus I had no complications in purchasing a set. I arrived at 9:00 am to a very manageable line having found metered parking - $2 for an hour. However, I'd imagine that more hotly anticipated releases, especially those of the 150LE variety, to be not so easily accessible...

I am familiar with the Valentine's Day UP release and am willing to wait even overnight for a good chance to purchase a coveted pin. (I'm looking at you Captain America and UP hinged book!!) However, as I am still yet a novice, I am unfamiliar with how to go about it, parking specifically - the waiting I am already familiar with doing.

So, any advice from those experienced? Where is a good place to park if arriving at say around 8:00 am, 7:00 am, or even for...sigh...the overnight stay?

Thanks in advance!! And good luck to everyone in your pin hunting!!
