DSF Up pin release UPDATE
I totally want to go now. Then set up across the street and set up gambling pools. Like "What time will the first punch be thrown" or "How many people will show up" or "What time will the police show?"
LMAO, Melonballer, thanks for the laugh . Best post yet !
I want one pin out of the set, but not anyway I'd risk the life of any my friends on here over a pin .

what is "Pin Trader Delights"? some sort of ice cream? you can only buy two ice cream?

sorry for the silly question

Pin trader delight is a sundae offered at the Soda Foundatin that is $11.99 and comes with a special LE300 pin you can only get by buying the sundae. The pin releases happen before the restaurant is open so traders could sometimes buy the sundae pin at the merchandise counter without ordering it with ice cream. The more popular sundae pins would sell fast as people would just buy as many sundaes as they wanted pins and tell the workers to keep the ice cream. The Cheshire Cat sundae pin released on 12/30 went super fast and I presume that is the reason for this new rule.

Ahh Thanks! that makes more sense when pins are involved. Was thinking why would they care how much ice cream one eats...they really care about our health... lol

Wow six sets?? how much did they sell them for? and that is quite a promise!!!

Search eBay completed items for "DSF UP PIN" and you will see 7 auctions. Looks like 6 individuals and 1 full set. There is now way those sales will be honored. They sold them for only twice the retail price, $24 for singles and $90 for the lone set. These things I predict will be in the $40-$65 range per pin afterwards. Especially when people who show up at 5am aren't even guaranteed a set. I am hoping to get a set to keep and a set to trade for rare El Capitan Marquee pins but I don't know now.

Actually they sold 2 ea of the sets and 4 ea of the individuals (for a total of 6 sets). Stated they would refund the money if they could not be obtained. But at this rate, most of us would be willing to buy them for only double the retail amount (LOL)!!

This is why I have really given up on my UP collection. Even if I had the cash I am not sure I would want to spend the amount that theses pins are going for. All of these pins seem so hard to get. I think I have some nice low edition pins but really struggle to trade for these :(. Ah well...at least there are loads of lovely Pluto pins out there.

I agree that they are going to be a high price on the secondary market and will definitely be Grail worthy pins in the long run. Im hoping to be able to get my set but I might as well fling my arms in the arm and run around like a headless chicken until Saturday evening lol as for now that how I feel about this release. I have not been like this for at least a year since no pins were out I needed but all of a sudden its like 2010 all over again with new UP pin releases.

I missed out on the full set :P I BIN 3 of the 4 individuals (didn't get the Carl & Ellie as kids). I PM'd the seller to see if he would have the 4th available, he listed it and told me the item #, but it was bought out from under me. It's actually 2 full sets, 4 individuals for each of the 4 pins, and a 5th individual for the Carl & Ellie as kids pin. I am crossing my fingers and hoping that he/she can get the sets :) I'm guessing this individual is either a CM (do they get first dibs?) or is bringing a complement of people with him/her. Last listed/purchased on 1/24. I hope I'm not jinxing anything!

fingers crossed for you starry :)

wow... i was thinking that there was no way i could go on fri night... Now i wonder if its safe to take my son at 5am to the dsf street fights. My family would love one set for our collection...but not sure its safe.. we will see...

:( crazy pin ppl... not us (dpf ppl) the ppl that fight and push and shove each other....:(

it's not worth it anymore. I'm missing 3 UP pins to be complete with UP pins...what's another 4 more? lol. I'll get them someday...:hsd:

See, those of us that have WDW as our "home" park don't get to participate in these punch-throwing pin releases! Y'all have ALL the fun! :)

I bet there will be Over 150 people waiting AROUND DSF before midnight waiting for 5 am. At which point there will be well over 200 im sure. Wonder how they will handle over 200 people fighting for a spot inline?...

I true (we wish) Disney Fashion, those present will compete in a game of musical chairs for the coveted spaces in line. Everyone will be required to walk around the block and when the music stops those 150 able to be in the "seats" will be the chosen few.

Your master of cerimonies will be The Mad Hatter.

(The above announcement is FICTIONAL - as if the tone were not give away enough)

There is an easy way to solve this problem. You are required to return an empty consumed sundae glass before you obtain the pin.

You could just toss the ice cream into a trash can to solve that problem. To be honest, I think it is prefectly reasonable that one should not have to buy the ice cream to get the pin. I mean, what if you were lactose intolerant, on a diet, or diabetic? I know there are ways to deal with it, but still.

CM's don't get first dibs but they do get like 35% off. Hence the rules on facebook about the discount only counting for the one CM's set, not their entire families pins! There are a few families that show up. Anyone over 3 can get a voucher. I also see WDI employee's that bring rare WDI pins and trade those for other peoples sets. So maybe your guy will pull through, but I wouldn't take that bet. There is usually the same crowd of people in the front. I am somewhat new so I don't know them all. I'm sure we'll make acquaintances soon though.
