Frozen Disney Store Merchandise, What are you looking forward to? (Contains Spoilers)
Thanks for posting BugCatcherJenna - Are the toddler dolls Mattel, Disney Store, or Jakks Pacific? ^^
The website says Jakks, but it is in Russian... so I cannot be 100% sure of the translation.

So, are they princesses??

Yes, they are both princesses,

BUT SPOILER ....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the Japanese trailer it show's that Elsa is in the process of being crowned the queen...

My guess is that Elsa is going to be good, but she has an uncontrollable power that makes everyone think she is evil and she even begins to believe it. She probably isolates herself. I think it will be a story of sisterhood.

Yes, Frozen is a story about sisterhood. They changed the story of the Snow Queen to make Elsa and Anna sisters. I'm really excited about it.

Spoilers: Elsa is the Queen. Disney will be marketing her though with the princesses or so they say.

Hehehee. I'm not really sure that's considered a spoiler considering frozen is based off the fairy tale the snow queen....but that's just me.

Even with it being based off The Snow Queen, you never know what Disney will change. They've already changed a lot, like Elsa and Anna being sisters, and Elsa not being an obvious villain and probably won't really be a villain at all, and Anna's reasons for seeking out the Snow Queen. I wouldn't be surprised if Frozen doesn't have much in common with the original fairy tale, except for a few things.

I actually never heard of The Snow Queen until Disney announced they were making a movie based off of it and I decided to look it up

I have read very little about Frozen the film, so none of this should be spoilers...

However, I never saw the Snow Queen as a villain at all in the original story. I'll still conceal my thoughts below in case any of these elements actually make it into the Disney film...

The original story was about a girl name Gerda trying to find and rescue her friend Kai (a boy) who had fallen under a curse from an evil troll (often said to be the Devil). Kai's personality had twisted into seeing everything as ugly and bad by the broken shards of the evil Troll's mirror, which in turn made him act mean and cruel toward everything. The Snow Queen spirited Kai away to her palace, knowing full well that he was cursed by the Troll, and told him that if he were able to solve a puzzle, she would release him. Kai is unable to solve the puzzle until Gerda finds him (after going through a lot of adventures) and melts the shards of the evil Troll's mirror that had infected his heart and eyes with her tears, thus curing him. Kai and Gerda then leave the Snow Queen's palace and go home. This is a very simplified version of the events in the story, but Frozen appears to have changed a lot of things about it. First, the original story has a lot of religious elements in it. Second, it is about Gerda and Kai, who seem to have been fused into the Disney characters of sisters Anna and Elsa. In the original story, the Snow Queen is not really a villain, even though she takes Kai away and holds him an essential prisoner at her palace until he can solve the puzzle, which basically required that Gerda free him from the Troll's curse first... I guess I'll have to wait and see what Disney does with this story in Frozen when I see it, because based on the characters that Disney created for the film, the story seems almost unrecognizable from the Hans Christian Andersen story.

That said, I think that the first wave of dolls from Frozen should be great additions to any Disney doll collection. I hope that the same Elsa and Anna dolls that are sold at the D23 Expo are the exact same dolls that will be sold at The Disney Store later. Their outfits are probably the best versions of their film costumes that we will ever see made on a 12" doll.

I have to say, I'm really happy the DS doll kept Anna's white hair streak. Can't wait to find out the reason for it!

If everyone takes the original tales to heart and thinks Disney should make them more like the tales they originated from then no one here should be a Disney fan. Cause sorry to break it to all of you none of disneys adaptions of any of the fairy tales follow the original story. For me that's what makes them great. Disney puts their own twist to old childhood favorites. Makes them more.... Mhhmmmm child friendly I guess is the best sense to put it. Yes frozen is far from the original snow queen tale but so is princess and the frog, tangled ( rapunzel), snow white ( she has a twin in the original and there is only one dwarf not seven.).... And so on. Even Alice in wonderland and Peter pan are not by the book and play they originate from. So don't take disney saying frozen is based on te snow queen too much to heart. They got the "inspiration" from the fairy tale, they aren't quoting it.

I agree with your point that the Disney versions of all of these tales are always adapted from the source material, often resulting in very different (and fun) retellings of the stories. My cloaked comment was directed at the misconception that the Snow Queen was a villain in the original tale, because she is not. Also, do not confuse the "Snow Whites" from the Grimm's Fairy Tale 53: Schneewittchen, which has seven dwarfs, a poisoned apple, and an evil queen; with Fairy Tale 162: Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot, which is of the two sisters who encounter a greedy dwarf and an enchanted bear. They are not the same character, even though their names both translate into "Snow White" in English.

She's suppose to have that streak. It's in all the official pics of her for the movie. She has the streak of blonde. And I don't know why and I don't even want to guess cause I don't want to "spoil" the movie if I'm correct. Hahaha.

Eep I'm sorry didn't think about that! I will not talk about the large white streak visible in her hair in the photos on this thread, or make any guesses about why its there. very sorry

I love the Elsa and Anna Disney dolls so far, I can't WAIT to see the LE dolls they release of these two!!

They are amazing, can't wait until these are released! I don't understand why some people watermark obvious stock photos though

The dolls are always the best quality when the film is first released. After that, the overall quality drops:/ I will def be picking up all the Frozen dolls that I've seen so far they look GORGEOUS!!!?

EE, so excited with that clip! I'm dying to hear Idina's voice come from Elsa the most! However, I really hope Disney doesn't spoil the movie by posting too many clips; with Tangled they were fun to watch, but kinda did spoil some part of the movie. Not the important parts, but still.
