Getting Real About the Designer Couples Set

I see that...jeez, louise, I would love to know who the heck is buying those sets at these prices! Are they just not doing the math?

Well, if they're Rapunzel collectors their math probably works like "It's the same price as a DP Rapunzel / marquee / Compact / top PODM scenes and we get these 4 other couples for free!"

Haha! Probably. Man, this Rapunzel craze is screwing us all...

I'll be sitting here, in my corner....waiting.

The more i look at images of these pins, the more I like them. I dont collect them but I find myself quietly wishing I could have been there for a set... Something to frame and put on the wall. lol

I'm doing the same thing. So I have resolved to print off pictures of them, frame them, and from far away, no one will notice the difference!

Well I think I will print out pictures of them each and cut them out and paste to some coroplast and glue them to a lanyard mabey no one will notice teehee

Just say no to sharks. I have taken up this mantra and much happier use that money in better places like getting every other pin you want hahahaha

Well, I think it's best to get them now than later, of course if you can. I remember this thread was bump a couple weeks ago and people were thinking (back a couple months ago) that the $750 for the Rapunzel Designer was way too high. Now look what has happened. There are people selling her for around that price or higher, and the value has yet to go down. Now with the princesses posing with their princes, I wouldn't be surprised if they go up even more. Technically you are getting two characters in one pin, so ten in that set just with a higher LE size. Anyhoo, I hope everyone eventually gets the pin(s) for this set that they want!

Mmmm. Usually, this would be true...but the starting price of a pin set has never been this inflated right of the bat, either. I find it's best to wait just a little after launch. Because right at launch, people are duking it out and panic buying, but if you wait too long, the rarity has kicked in and the value spikes high. there's a sweet spot in between those two places that's usually the best time to buy.

Pins see-saw all the time. I watched a lot of the old DA stuff shoot up to $300-500, then sink back down again. Now, some of them will never be cheap, but the chances are good that anything that spikes unusually high (for its given value) will come back down somewhat again.

If this is the price it settles at (which I doubt), then I'll just resign myself to never having it, because to me, it's unreasonable.

Well said. I am loving the input on this thread. Releases with crazy hype always sell for crazy prices (look at DSF). If we are patient hopefully everyone that is looking to collect one or all of the pins in this set will be able to get them at a reasonable price. There are always trends and right now Designers and Tangled are just what's "in". Who knows what the next big thing will be.

the pin's are now sold individually , all above 600 dollars each

who wants beauty and the beast for 750 dollars only lol

Funny how things turn out at the end. We had some members questioning the prices and now some are buying them! Hey, whatever makes you happy right? I'm just glad some people from DPF got the pins. :wavey:

I will break up my set and sell individually for $300 each pin if there is enough demand. I just don't know if people want them not being in a set?

I'm surprised by the lack of broken sets thus far, but I understand since it is such a nice set people would want them all.

Well, in the beginning, I would agree with you. However, with the Designer Princesses (2011) they have shown no sign of going down in price.

I would love to have this set, but I admit I only collect for fun not profit. I give too many pins away at the parks and other places to make money pin collecting. I call it this as I am not good at trading, I give pins to people and kids just because they ask for them. Maybe I need to take a class on trading. But you should see the faces light up when you give someone a pin that they really want for free, or even for a much lessor trade. It's called the feel good trade (gift). Everyone should do this when they are feeling down about pin trading, it will lift you up. Enough of this have a magical day and yes I am one of those people dying to get the Designer Couples set, but life goes on, so have fun!!!

Little off topic... Was going to post it in the other thread to cut the tension but it got closed

Anyone think it is possible that these exact pins get released in Tokyo at the D23 Expo coming up but in smaller editio. Size kinda like the 110th legacy collection did awhile back?

Im looking into making the trip to Tokyo on hunch that this may happen ... Anythoughts?

They have not done that again since the 110th anniversary have they? I think that didnt go over great and won't happen again. This is part of the designer series which I am fairly certain will continue. So my guess is no these wont return smaller at another Park.
