I feel the need to say that credit for this game goes to Pin-A-Colada, not myself, I'm just the messenger folks ^_^
This game is taking pins to a whole new level...a global level (insert really cool, epic music).
Have you ever seen one of those Tumblrs where a person takes a photo of a figure in a specific location and does so numerous times in different locations like in this commercial:

Have you ever wondered "I really wish I could do that with a pin, but I don't travel enough from my home of (insert town name) to be able to do that, if only I knew someone...someone who I trusted that lived in another state/country that I could send this pin too and they could take a photo like so and we could continue the chain. Oh! And we could make it a race!"? If you have wondered that...then that's really weird since that's extremely specific what I just said
But that's the premise of this game!
Here are the rules (courtesy of this game's creator, Pin-A-Colada):
I just received some postcards from my gnome pins that are missing. It looks like they have been doing some traveling. They have asked for your help to keep their adventures going.
This game will have four parts:
1. The Photo Contest - Required
As members participating in the game receive the traveling gnome pin, they will be required to upload a picture of the gnome pin. The picture that is posted will be automatically entered into a photo contest where DPF members will vote on their favorite photos in certain categories. The voting will take place every three months on all photos submitted before voting is opened. Voting will take place for a week and then the winners from each category will be announced.
Only one picture can be submitted per person. The picture must be posted on the thread within three days of receiving the pin. The pin must be in the picture for the picture to qualify for the contest. There will be four categories the pictures can win in:
* Best Overall
* Most Adventurous
* Best Holiday Spirit
* Most Artistic
Unfortunately, it has been decided that photoshoped pictures will not qualify because I want the pins to go to real places not just dragged and dropped into a scene.
Voting will begin the first week of December. All pictures most be submitted before then.
2. Zap it Forward - Take a pin, Leave a pin.
I will include a zap to the first people I send the pins to. These first people will then have the option of taking the zap or mailing it to the next person. If the zap is taken, the zap must be replaced with a pin of equal or greater value. The goal is to have every person, who receives the gnomes, receive a nice zap.
If you take the zap, you must post a thank you on this thread with a picture of the zap. If you do not take the zap, do not tell anyone what the zap was. I want them to be a surprise for every person so that when they receive their zap, they're so surprised they puke rainbows (yeah, that surprised!)!
3. Postcards Tell the Story - Optional
There will be a plastic pouch that is mailed with the pins. This pouch is meant to contain the postcards of each place the pins visit around the world. Have fun and get creative with what is written on the postcard. Always write the postcards as if the pins themselves have written them. Also, make the greeting generic (i.e. Hi There) and sign it as Gnome (Character Name). Once the pins finally make it home, I will post pictures of all the postcards and what was written on them so please do not write something extremely mean on the card ^_^
4. The Race
The race we will be having works like a relay race. I am shipping out two different gnome pins, Mickey Gnome and Chip 'n Dale Gnome. Everyone who signs up will be put on a team, the Mickey team or the Chip 'n Dale team. There will be an even amount of people on each team. I will post the team lists on this thread in the order each person should receive the pin. I will also update the list once the pin has pin shipped by each person. The team who gets the pin to all of its people first will win the race. Each team member will get a small prize mailed to them.
How to play?
Sign Up.
You must sign up to play this game. These pins will not be given to anyone who is not on the list. I will be giving the address of where the pins will be shipped to next. To cover the cost of prize, there will be a $5 participation fee and a $15 deposit required (a total of $20). The whole $15 dollar deposit will be returned to you as long as you:
* Post a picture on the thread within three days of receiving the pin. If you do not post a picture within three days you forfeit $5 and will only receive $10 back once you ship.
* Ship the pin within 5 days of receiving the pin. If you do not ship the pin within 5 days, you forfeit the entire $15 deposit.
* Zap the pins forward. If anyone reports the zap pin is missing, the last person to have the pin not receive $15 dollar deposit back. Let me assure you, everyone will be innocent until proven guilty in this instance.
* Example A: I receive the pin on Monday. I post a picture of the pin on the thread on Wednesday and ship it on Friday. I get my $15 dollars back.
* Example B: I receive the pin on Monday. I post a picture on Thursday. I ship the pin on Friday. I get $10 back because Thursday was the fourth day, but I shipped it on the fifth day.
* Example C: I receive the pin on Monday. I post a picture on Wednesday. I ship the pin on Saturday. I loose my $15 dollar deposit.
The $5 participation fee will help to offset some of the costs of prizes for the winning relay team, as well as the high-end LE pins which will be given for the four photo contest winners. Any of the forfeited money from the $15 deposit will also be used for these purposes. So really, if you follow the rules, the entry fee is only $5! So stop struggling with your decisions and join in the fun!
In order to enter, please PM Pin-A-Colada or me (kupo1121), but it'd probably be smarter to PM Pin-A-Colada since they're the masterminds behind this game, just sayin'
I am being strict with the rules because I want the game to keep moving. I figure between the money and the race these will be good motivators.
When shipping the pin to the next person, please get a tracking number if possible. Post the tracking number on the thread so everyone will know the pins are moving. If you cannot post a tracking number, at least post on the thread the when the pin is shipped.
Watch the thread.
Leave a comment, story, clue, or update. Lets make sure this is the most viewed thread EVER!
Have fun on your adventure Gnoming Around the World!
Until this game gets started, please enjoy this gif of a gnome tangling himself in a plastic can-thingy voluntarily!
