I was wondering what the consensus was on responding to someone who has initiated a trade with you through PM and how long it takes you to respond back to them.

When someone PM's me to offer a trade, I try to answer either yes or no as soon as I possibly can. I think that is a courteous and pleasant way to do "pin business." For the most part that's what most people on here do.

But I have a few PM's out there where it's been about a week since I sent the trade/sell PM and they still haven't responded. I understand if they are busy with life and not on the site that much, but most of these people are on daily.

And it's a double bummer because my Holy Grails are involved! Ugh!

I think I've given them enough time to respond back, and I'll just have to take it as a no and move on, but, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING DISNEY, please don't ignore incoming requests for trades! Be courteous to your fellow pin lovers! Respond with a nice yes or no thank you! Trading is what we're on DPF for, right?

Thanks for listening (and responding!)

LOl I try to respond as soon as possible Sometimes i have to think things over, but I let the trader know. While some PM's might fall through the cracks, I always try to be as quick as I can.

If someone PMs with a specific trade, like this pin for this one, I try to reply as soon as I read it. If someone sends a more generic, "I am interested in this pin, please check my trades," that can sometimes take a little longer, depending on the size of their trades list, but I still try to respond within a day. And then there are some requests that I have to sleep on, but again, you're looking at 24 hours or so.

I am constanly checking my emails and PMs....So i would say i respond back really quickly to any trade...whether its a yes or a no. That way either we can move forward with the trade....or move on from it...I have had people not respond for weeks to my trade offers....or even if they send me a request...sometimes i accept andthen they dont respond back for a while....that i dont understand....But everyone works on different timelines. Thats just my opinion...

For PMs I try to repond within a day or two. Sometimes I don't respond for a little while (as in hours or a day) even though I am active on the board because I'm still thinking about it or something like that. Or maybe I want to wait until I get home just to make sure I still have the pin. On the rare occasion I delay responding and then forget to respond completely.

When irks me is when someone else initiates the contact, I send a counter offer, and then they blow me off. I took the time to respond to them, they should at least take the time to respond to me with a yes or no.

I try to respond within a day. Honestly, sometimes I forget to respond and get to it the next day, but most of the time it is within a day. I generally use that time to think about the trade, if it fits, was I hoping to get something else with the pin they are requesting so on and so forth.

I try to be prompt but there are variables. Sometimes it takes me time to wrap my head around a trade and I have to think about it for a while before I can make a decision. Not everyone gets on their computer every day. Life should come first so I never expect an immediate answer or even one the same day although that does make it nice. Sometimes a person just forgets. I think what I would do in your case is write them to see if they are still interested (assuming that you still want to trade) and give them a dead line to respond. I think a week is a bit much (I would send the reminder after about 5 days I think) already so I would not give but maybe 48 hours for a response time. After you have sent a reminder and they still don't respond then consider the trade dead. Everyone feels differently about trading. There really is no right or wrong way but just what you feel comfortable with.

Whether its PM or Pinpics, I try to respond within 48 hours. If you haven't heard back from me, I may have accidentally overlooked it. If I haven't caught it myself, I always appreciate a follow up email.

Speaking of which - Oy! Kidup! Did you receive my last PM?

I know for me it depends on what my schedule is. Sometimes my work interfere and I get busy, so it could take a few days.

OMG which one!?

I try to respond within 48 hours and will hold a trade offer for the same length of time. If I haven't had a response by then I will often try another trade.

I always respond pretty fast...I guess I just have so much free time on my hands....lol

OMG which one!?

The one where I was offering one of my 100LE DA Halloweens for one of your DA 100LE Halloweens. PM me if you wanna look at the possiblity again. Since we're both nutty for our Halloween pins, I know we'll eventually be tradin' with each other sometime in the future - like this Sept, when the releases start happenin'. :wiggle:
