I admit it. I am a Figaro completist and I am only 7 pins away from being the Pokemon pin champion. Two of the pins, I have never, NEVER, ever seen and don't know if they "really" exist. The other 5 pins, well, if they do come available, they are an astronomical asking price. For example, this pin has become available
pin46018
but, ............they are asking.......drum roll please :naughty: $449.99. Yes, I said four hundred and forty nine dollars and ninety nine cents . I would love to add this pin, but I can't fanthom that amount. The most I ever paid was $115 for a LE 25 Figaro. Not even Ariels or Belles have I paid over $100 and I do own the Designer Princess. That amount is my DirecTv, electricity, gas, HOA and 2 car insurance payment for the month. So, my question is, would you do it? Pay almost $500 for one pin? If yes, which pin (remember 1 pin, not set).

I want that pin, too, because I collect Ivan, but I know that cat collections are serious and I could never afford to compete with you guys for pins!

Owning that pin would cross off: Figaro, Si & Am, Lucifier and Ivan from Peter and the Wolf. In fact, that pin is the last pin I need for Ivan.

I think it depends on my disposable income at the time  I bought some of the DP's for a hefty price, but at the time I was not under any sort of financial burdens. My money was mostly paying for whatever I wanted.
I also think it kind of depends on the pin. Is it a pin you have never seen in 15 years of pin trading? Is it a once in a life time deal? It is hard to decide when it is that much money, because like you said, that pays the bills!

I wouldn't spend that amount on one pin... most I've spent on one is a bit over $170 for the King Candy Surprise Release. But my reason is I'm poor anyhow. I'd use the money to go toward going to Disney or something like that. But I can understand how much you want the pin being as its for a completist collection... hmmm... why is pin trading so expensive!?

- Well since I'm new to the whole pin collecting & just started this year, I would actually spend a lot on certain pins that are truly worth those prices. My main priority is actually getting the designer princess Ariel & Jasmine. Plus the fairytale designer Ariel/Eric & Aladdin/Jasmine pins. The aladdin ones should be pretty easy to get but the Ariel ones are going to be a little harder since they're the most popular ones. I mean my focus are only getting aladdin & little mermaid pins, plus a couple other favorites.

I was just really fortunate to get the designer villain pin set for only $80 a box. We got 4 boxes at our outlet store earlier this year & their regular price were $150 but they went down to $100 & put in a our clearance section. This was before I knew about this pin forum site. I bought two of them, one for me & one for my friend in California. They look so valuable & gorgeous, I had to get them! Even though my cast members were looking at me like I was crazy. I didn't care, I had to get them since I missed out getting the designer villain dolls. Then when I found out how much they were on eBay, I was so shocked! But then I realized they were limited edition & such a low edition as well! I was soo grateful that we had them at our Disney outlet store when it did. So yes, I would spend a lot on certain pins, especially the designer pins. But only Aladdin & Little Mermaid related ones lol.

The most I've spent on a single pin thus far has been $80. I might go as high as $100-150 for something I really wanted, but I can't imagine ever spending $500.

I say go for it if you can afford it!! I can't say that I would ever do it, but I have spent dumb money before and it will probably happen again.

That's just it, it would really hurt the wallet. I barely make it from paycheck to paycheck. I will pass, but I would love to know if others would do it for their grail?

How much would I spend on one pin? That depends on if it is for me or not. I have never spent more then 50 dollars on a pin for myself and even then I have only done that once.

Now for a zap for somebody else, that is another story completely, but I think the most I spend on somebody else was 90 dollars. Your welcome Kupo. :p

I have been pondering with this as well. I would love the Designer Princess set but I'm not quite willing to spend $1500 on it. I would however spend a couple hundred if it was a pin I really wanted.

Look at it this way, $449.99 for a single pin is a real bargain if you happen to be a Tangled collector!!

Lol it's a shame Tangled pins went the route they did. I remember a few months after its release, I casually bought the Chair pin for $40, Pascal DSF for $30. It was so easy to buy those pins.

Glad I'm not a Tangled collector, but I couldn't resist the Tangled Piece of Disney Movies pin that had a frame of just Flynn. I think that was the 2nd most expensive piece I bought - $55 here in the forum marketplace. The highest one was $75, but it was for #72174 Haunted Mansion Constance jumbo slider where the slider makes the grooms' heads disappear. My most favorite pin, and thank goodness for the deal at 2013 D23 Marketplace! (I suppose I should have bought the designer princess couples set. Oh well.) Bought a few Maleficent jumbos @$40, but I guess none of these are the "regular" size pins. $449.99 is a lot, but if one can afford it (not me right now), hey, why not?

If its a pin you really want I say go for it...It may go for more the next time you see it on the bay...Its only money you can always make more!!!!

The most I have spent on one single pin is $250 (twice I think). I have spent $200 on a few occasions, esp what i spent on the darn Designer Couples set but it was just eating me up not to have it. :( I have paid $500 for an le50 frame set once. These are all pretty rare occurrences though. For me it really depends on the pin. RIght now there are only 2 pins I could ever fathom $500 for and I will never get them for that price -

pin36939
pin96520

I was thinking close to $150. One sold a few months ago for under $225, but I couldn't justify that so I dropped out of the bidding

I guess I'm really new because even more than 50 seems really high for me. The most I've spent so far is 20eu. But I guess an edition of 100 in a hobby with thousands of people makes it worth it for some!

I have spent $500 on the Fantasia Sprite Gomes and I have spent $500 on the Ariel Carousel. If you want it you'll pay it eventually. I've been in this hobby for 11 years now. It'll happen if you have been playing long enough and are determined.
I remember spending $190 on the Sleeping Beauty Gomes and thought it was WAY overpriced considering all the other Gomes were going for $100 or less. This was at least 5 years ago. The market has changed. That pin was a gift to my cousin. I am still looking for one for MY collection. Now it is worth many times that. I would be willing to spend more money on another so I can finally have it for my collection.
These are just my thoughts on the harder pins. There are exceptions.

I think the most i'd ever spend is $100 Maybe $120! And thats only if I could afford it and had that much money in my bank spare!

But at the moment with my BATB, Pocahontas, Bolt and Ariel collections I'm just looking for the higher edition/OE pins popping up for cheap :D

I guess I'm just cheap, but I would love to hear more about peoples big ticketed items. About the Gomes-they are worth big bucks$, but sorry-not that big

I think the most I've spent was $300 (Jessica St. Patrick's coin and Jessica Patriotic Gown), but even those had me flinching. I have found pins that were "supposed" to be more for less, so I do believe in waiting things out, when you can. Of course, sometimes that bites you in the butt (like, pretty much any of the Princess Grails right now...), but it also works, too.

My comfort zone for my rare and HTF pins is between $100-150. When it gets above $200 I get twitchy.
