How much would you ever pay for a pin?
When I first discovered online pin trading/collecting, I didn’t want to spend $30+. But soon I realized I’d never get any pins otherwise (read: DSF /grails), so I bumped the limit to just under $40, including shipping/taxes/PayPal fees.

So the most I’ve ever spent on a single pin is $39. I’ve probably cheated when shipping would’ve pushed it over my spending limit by just buying another pin. Then I justify it to myself by splitting the total cost in half - and that’s how much each pin cost, lol. So long as each individually is about $35 at most, then I’m good, haha. That’s also how I decide whether I buy a pin set or not. :D

I was super close to spending about $65 on an eBay auction for a grail, but luckily someone outbid me.

I can think of a couple pins I spent over $200 and several in the $100 to $199 range. It’s about what makes me happy, what tugs on the heart strings, and my disposable income at certain times. @coblj003 I spent the most on the Scoop super jumbo too. I said in a FB group recently that if there was a fire in my house, I’d grab my dog and that Scoop pin. My MacBook is more expensive but easily replaceable. No one is selling their Scoop (including me).

I don't know if this thread makes me feel good or bad about my own pin spending. This year has been a crazy, weird, expensive year with all the Up pins. I've spent more this year on pins than the past 10! (I've made my hubby agree that they are my birthday, anniversary, Mother's Day, Christmas, Valentine's Day, whatever other holiday I can claim presents.) I have been really blessed to get almost all of them at cost or really close thanks to great pin people.

The most I've ever spent on a single pin was years ago. I spent $115 for this one:

I've never regretted it. It took me forever to find it and I cherish it to this day. Would I spend more than that on a single pin again? Probably not. I admit that I have spent 80-90 on a few others but they were super grails of mine.

Not living near the parks makes a difference, I think. So, I save when I can and try to be selective with the pins I buy. I watch for deals like a hawk and jump when it reaches my spending range. I think my average range for purchasing pins that are not mystery pack, booster, or OE, is between $15-$40 although I did just spend $50 on a pin this morning... I dunno.

Some of you have a lot more self restraint than I do, and I’m jealous!

I honestly could not afford to spend more than $100 on a single pin. Even then, I don't particularly want to. So a lot of my most wanted pins, I will never own. I just cannot justify saving that kind of money, especially since the market for pins could crash.

The two most expensive pins I’ve ever bought were the 60th anniversary Sleeping Beauty jumbo for $100 and the Date Nite Sleeping Beauty chaser for $80. There are many pins I want on my wishlist that would cost a great deal more, but I can’t justify it. Although, with as much as I spend on other collections I don’t know why I hesitate to spend it on pins.

When I started collecting, I didn’t think there was any way I’d ever pay over $25 for a little piece of metal.

Now, after seven years of collecting, I’m lucky to find any pin off of my wants list for that price.

I’ve paid up to $75 for a grail (an LE 100 Peter Pan), and I would consider going up to $100 for one of my most wanted pins. Unfortunately most of my grails are worth even more than that now.

I must admit I’m the same way. In the beginning paying over $20 for a pin was absurd to me but now after some time has gone by 20 dollars is nothing lol I don’t mind spending over $100 for a pin that I’ve been wanting. It’s a hobby that I love and has brought a lot of joy.

Although I do draw the line on outrageous priced pins...cough cough a certain Stunning Silhouette Princess pin which is currently priced at nearly $400! Even though it’s absolutely beautiful I can not justify that purchase.

Princess grails seem to be the worst to your wallet. I collect Tiana and the DEC Tiana pin is pretty, but not 425 bucks pretty

I agree. The pin is pretty, but I wouldn’t pay that for it.

What is your most wanted Tiana pin?

Probably the club 33 50th anniversary tiana pin but I'm never gonna get my hands on that one. Within the realm of possibility, probably the WDI Tiana and Ray frame pin.

Those are both top wants for me, too.

Beautiful pin, never say never...

My family teases me because I won't spend over $40 on clothes/shoes for me but don't hesitate to spend $100 on dolls and pins. I think the most I've paid is 325 for the love is an adventure frame set. For individual pins I prefer to stay under $100, and it better be a grail pin at that. Although to be honest if I see that wdi Mali profile, prince Philip vs Mali dragon jumbo or transformation beast for $200 I'd cough it up so fast!
