This morning I was suprised to find out my parents were taking my sister and I to Magic Kingdom today. I'm always excited to go and today was no exception. As you can imagine with the holiday it was extremely crowded. I had just come out of the main street stores when I saw Scoop standing by the hot dog restaurant! I've been trading for 5 years and have never seen him before despite calling guest relations to see where he would be ahead of time. He was SO kind even though I looked like a grinning fool haha. After asking what I collected, he led us aside and brought out this pin for me:
pin79783

This really was my best Disney experience. I wish all of you get to have the chance to meet him.

Scoop really is the BEST! I know that he goes out of his way to try and give each and every guest the best Disney experience possible. I'm so happy for you that you finally got to meet him. :)

am i stupid for not knowing who scoop is ?

No, not stupid at all - especially since Scoop is only at WDW. Remember, there are no stupid questions, and if you don't ask, you'll never get answers. :)

So who is Scoop? Scoop Sanderson is one of the Main Street USA townspeople. As the name would imply, he's the reporter. But of more impact to the pin trading community, Scoop also is WDW's resident pin trading expert. Until ... oh when was it? ... 2006 or 2007 (somewhere around then), Scoop would give talks about pins and pin trading in Expo Hall several times a week where he would educate anyone who came about these shiny pieces of metal, how they're made, how to/not to trade them, and so on ... and even do some pin trading/gifting throughout and at the end of said talks.

These pin talks sadly came to an end when Disney decided they'd rather use the small theatre for DVC promotions and other things. While Scoop doesn't do his talks anymore, which is a shame since he really was the best for educating both new pin traders AND cast members, you still can find him on Main Street for a little pin trading, if you have any questions about these shiny pieces of metal - or just if you want to say 'hi' to and chat with a genuinely wonderful person.

he was at the PTN at the Contemporary this month , in plain clothes, so not scoop, but more like the pin trader who is scoop!! I got a peek into his pin trader bag, as you might imagine,
OMG!!
some awesome pins, I have traded with him several times and always a gentleman, a true golden edition to WDW

Congrats! Scoop rocks!!!

He had called my wife and I over to him our trip before last, and he was very charming and funny.
Great experience, and I hope everyone at some point gets the opportunity to interact with Scoop for themselves. He is the #1 ambassador of pin trading IMO.

Samantha, I am SO happy for you! Isn't Scoop awesome!

I would LOVE to run into Scoop just doing normal pin trading in plain clothes! That would be so cool!

Maybe we'll see him again in September :) I really can't say enough nice things about Scoop.

Speaking of Scoop did anyone see the program last night on TLC at 10 pm eastern time (after cake boss) ? the name of the show was Surprise Homecoming
i was going to go to bed as 430 comes easy but there was a family in it who husband/ father was in the Military and surprised his family with a trip to WDW and the mother and kids were standing on Main st watching the the parade. The father was the Guest of honor during the Parade .
While I was trying to sleep when I heard this voice in the background announce the Guest of Honor and immediately woke up and watched as the Announcer voice belonged to Scoop and a minute or two later I spotted Scoop !!

here is a link to showtimes its the 2nd story during the program

Love that pin :) So exciting! I wonder if I ever unknowingly walked past him in my trips to WDW before I started collecting/trading...

unless his schedule has changed since i was in WDW in 2009

Scoop was only on Main St sundays-wednesdays
but I've heard rumors he has a "relative" that appears at Mickey's backyard BBQ
