So I am bidding on a PODM on E-Bay and it's pretty high, so im watching it hoping I have a chance to win because I really can't afford much more to bid on it. I have an aquaintence, I met on Foursquare when he added me as a friend when he saw me on Foursquare and added me, we talk now and then and text, and are friends on Facebook, He, by the way does not collect the PODM's, he does sell some pins on E-Bay but never any PODMs. He asked if I liked any of the pins he was selling and I said yes, he asked if I was interested in any if I would bid, I said I can't buy from him right now im bidding on a PODM and thats where my money will go, he asked for the link so he could see what PODM I was bidding on and watch it, so I showed him and not even a minute later he outbids me, He says it's a cool scene and if I liked it I should bid again! Im furious and told him as a friend why would he do that too me, and he tells me again to Bid again to outbid him, I tell him that no friend of mine would have evr done that too me and I should report him for doing that. I am on meds right now that cause me to loose my cool or temper have high anxiety, frustration, so I don't know if this is just the meds making me extra angry and I want to report him, or should I just let it go, he did in the end retract his bid, after I told him I was going to report him. I really want this PODM and I can't beleive anyone who says they are my friend would flat out do that. Advice please.

Wow, unfriend him and don't tell him what you're bidding on anymore. Other than that, not sure what else you can do.

Just let it go. It is not worth stressing over. Next time, be careful about giving out info on pins you are bidding on. Give out the info after you have won it. Or else you will watch the price sky rocket. I have seen it happen too many times here.

It seems to me he either is the one selling it (under a different account than the one you know) or he was hoping to win it and make you pay more than he paid. I could be wrong though.

Thanks I needed to hear someone, these meds are horrible, I only have 4 more days of them, they make me short tempered, my doctor used another word, lol, and I get really anxious and frustrated like im coming out of my skin, so my reasoning and calm has been affected, I needed level heads to help me. Thanks.

Although it was a very crummy thing to do, I don't think what the guy did was technically against any rules... so I don't think you can report him.

I can definitely understand your frustration, though - If I were in your shoes, I'd be pissed, too!

Whew I was but i've calmed down, it was pretty crummy, yeah I think your right, I told him about it, he outbid me, and said if I wanted bad enough to outbid him, he really wasn't doing anything wrong, unless he was purposley outbiding me to be mean, which is not cool.

Not sure if you're implying he is using 2 accounts, 1 to sell and 1 to drive the price up?
Even if that was the case, a nice lawsuit and some hefty ebay fines would be in his way

=/

Only way you could really tell that is with his IP
But only ebay could really do that =/

It seems to me though that he knows you want it and he wants to see how badly you want it
If he wins, he will probably list at the price he won it and try and resell it

Honestly though, the scene i want is about $100+
Id either trade for it here, or just continue with my grails and other PODM for the year

Hey...I have had "friends" do that to me before. It is a very crappy thing to do someone and I am sorry it happened to you. I would definitely un-friend him but make sure you say why. I have learned to keep it a secret when I am bidding on anything that I really want.

Thats the whole thing, he doesn't even collect the PODMS, so I didn't understand why he did that, but I learned a lesson today, and I did un-friend him because he really wasn't someone I knew well enough but I am always trying to make new friends but he obviously is not a friend, I think he was being spiteful since he keeps bugging me to bid on his pins which I had told him I would only bid if I really wanted to buy it, I told him I would never bid to hike up a pin he's trying to sell, so I think he was mad, and I really think he was wanting me to hike up his pins too, but I can't really prove it.

I know I am not allowed to post the seller ID here, but if I could I would just so all could steer clear, because I do think he really was wanting me to hike up his pins.

With or without meds, you have every right to be upset.

I agree with others, never tell anyone what you are bidding on.

I would wait to have the pin in my hand first, I would not even post about it after a mere win. Sometimes pins get lost in the mail or if the final sales value is low, sellers back out of deals with excuses such as "I lost the pin" or "The pin got damaged" or whatever. It happened to me in the past and it is not a happy experience to think you got a bargain on a rare pin and then be left out in the cold :(

As far as this PoDM pin goes, let the other person get it, especially if the price went up high. There will always be others ... I hope ;)

Please PM me what PoDM pin you are looking for and I will keep my eyes open for you.

If you want to purchase something on eBay for the lowest possible price...

-Don't tell anyone what you are bidding on
-Don't bid until the last minute or so (but make sure you enter the highest possible price you are willing to pay)

If you do these two things and you are still outbid...it wasn't meant to be. :)

Also don't be afraid to make offers on "Buy it Now or Best Offer" auctions...many times the seller will go significantly lower than their "Buy it Now" price. :)

I'm sorry that happened to you sweetie :( I would totally be upset if I trusted a friend enough to give them the link, with them knowing I'm trying to win it, and then only to have them turn around and bid on it. What a crappy thing to do!! I hope you win it!!

I'd be upset too. If he sells pins on ebay and doesn't collect? Sounds like one of those people who just buys pins for the profit and uses them as income. If he wins the pin I bet he turns around and sells it.
