Lately, I feel like I'm in a pin trading funk. It seems to have lost its luster to me :(

I don't know how to explain the feeling, other than, I know that if it's still here in a few months, I'll be selling all my traders (none of my collection) at the end of the year.

I'll still be online to talk and stuff, but probably no trading.

I went thru this once. It passed but lasted about 4 months. Hope you come out of it soon!

Don't sell your pins. Everyone I know (including myself) has taken a break from pins for a while. I get really bummed sometimes because I'm either getting NO trade requests or "no thanks" to the ones I send out. Just take a break, and come back when you feel like it, it'll be fun again (which, of course, is the whole point of this hobby!). :wavey:

I was feeling a bit like this for the past couple weeks, but today, a MAJOR grail came in the mail and it just made me so happy that it brought me out of my mini funk. Maybe something like that will happen to you :P

I felt this way this weekend I got screwed out of two pins I have been looking for. for the past two years someone had them for me and then forgot and traded them away to someone else let alone i knew this other pin trader and when I asked him about these two pins he told me he traded them away they were not even for his collection. hang in there it should get better

Wanna trade? Get you out of a funk????

Do you think this is fair?

You are such a sweetheart Vicki!

I'm sorry you feel that way Li. I know I've been through the same before. Sometimes you just need a break. I hope it doesn't last though. I'm glad you will still be around to chat though. :)

I'm sorry Li :( I totally empathize as I have been feeling the same thing as of late. I mean, I in no way have a lot to trade, but Im surprised that seemingly everything I have seems to have zero value trading and otherwise. I'm even more disappointed that the one trade that I had made that I was excited about now has become more trouble than it's worth (traded a month ago and my pins have yet to arrive, oy >.<)

Hope the trading blues dispel quickly for you! Im sure trudging along a bit more will be worth it in the long run!

Feel you a little bit. I feel like online trading is almost non existent lately. ?? I sent out 235 TA's on saturday night and received 4 responses...3 No's and one counteroffer. ha!!! Seems everyone has a death grip on their pins and isn't looking to trade much. It seems that almost no matter which pin I offer or which pin I'm trying to get, everyone always writes back, "I would trade for this pin instead...(insert ariel PTN or brave marquee or avengers marquee)". Then when I actually offer those pins for some of my harder to find wants, I get no response. Oooooh the irony :) Trading at the park has been a little better but then everyone just talks "ebay values" which in large doses makes it seem a little less fun. I know it comes up in appropriate situations but I don't need to know what every pin last sold for on ebay...yawn! You want my pin or not?? ha!! It will get more lively. No worries! Take a break for one week and you will be dying to trade by the weekend.

Glad to know it's not just me, I am like you seriously considering selling off my traders. That and the stupid shipping costs from the UK these days means it's not worthwhile trading for 1 pin.

Pin trading through pin pics is not the fun it used to be, it's very rare to get a reply. I do try and reply to all the TA's I get not always on the same day but usually within a day or 2. Sometimes I want to mull trades over.

Some pins I've been hunting down for a good few years but no one is trading them so that is part of my frustration.

Time to sell up and just buy the ones I need for my collection? Who knows, still mulling it over.

Yes, totally! I got your rPM and came here right away. :-) I'll put the pin in your package that's going out tomorrow (got to open it to put this one in!)

Wow, those two pins you guys are trading are both beautiful!! Congrats!

I hope you feel better about pin trading soon! So many people here love ya! Hopefully things will turn around soon.

hope things get better soon Li. i totaly understand. i am still in the funk and hope to b out of it soon as many of us seem to b. Its kind of nice to see that its not just one of us. Allso i think its a good sign that we still have sum good caring traders in this hobby. i know that sharks dont get in a funk..they just go hunt new water...so here is a big thumbs up to all the good fokes still in our hobby. things can and will get better with time.

"Its All about The Pins"

Thanks all for your kind words. I've been feeling like this for a while now....even after I got my Mulan Golden Brocade, I was happy for a minute and then, eh.

Maybe it's the thrill of the chase?

I've lost my pin mojo and have been selling both my traders lately and even dipping into my collection for pins to sell :( I think it's a cumilation of several things:- the high cost of shipping from the UK to USA. I used to trade for the sake of trading but the high cost now means I have to think twice. The state of DS UK and especially now they have highered the LE edition numbers and the lack of pin releases-2 a month!! Really??
I feel your pain Li but hope it doesn't last and the fog lifts soon :)

Do you think it's more of a "pin trading stuck?" That's where I'm at now since I haven't been able to find a POTC: At World's End marquee to complete my POTC marquees. It seems like once you get that grail, you need to find another one to put on your list so the hunt can continue.

One thing I love about pin trading is the social side of it. My very first pin trading experience was the Northern California meeting a few months ago and there wasn't that many of us there. We actually did more chatting than trading.

I encourage to stick around for the social side of it, I always love chatting with you and you're always so willing to share information and history about this hobby that it encourages me.

Don't sell your traders you never know when you might get bit by the trading bug .You have some pins that I like but I don't seem to have anything on your wants let me know if you ever see anything you like :)

aw now. don't do that. we aaaallllll have less than pintastic thoughts on occation. In fact, I regularly go through a "screw pin trading" phase. Usually after a bad week with no TR replys or someone here on the boards making an a$$ of themselves. It passes, and I get back on the horse.

I was going to ask if you can pinpoint the source of your funk?

I was in a bit of a funk earlier, because I wasn't making any trades and everything has become so Tangled/Up/Brave focused. But I broke through my trading slump last month in a big way. Sometimes pins just need to percolate. I was surprised in my June trading binge, how many pins I've had FOREVER that I was suddenly able to trade. I am still a little concerned about the "intensity" surrounding those Hot 3, but I've been around long enough to know that things don't stay hot forever. Last year, it was PTN pins, Alice, Designer Princesses, and long before that it was Stitch, Haunted Mansion and Pirates, and those seem to have moderated a bit.

If you aren't finding excitement from the pins themselves, sometimes it's better to just put them away for a bit. Or, alternatively, play with them. Whenever I start framing my pins for display, I get excited about certain pins that I hadn't thought about in awhile because I forgot how pretty they all look together.

Don't give up Li. You pulled me out of my funk by getting me the stuff from the Mad T Party which were waiting for me when I got home at 2 AM this morning. It really cheered me up and the scarves are WONDERFUL. Even if your funk last a year (mine did) do NOT sell your traders. You will regret it when the "bug" bites you again. I just put mine in the closet and waited it out. Now I'm back in full swing. I am thinning down my collection and will probably sell some traders after the September event. But there have been some nice pins come out lately and I've made some great trades. Don't quit and keep your chin up.
