Just looking on ebay, seeing all these Brave pins without any bids. Is the craze over?

Discuss.

I believe the initial Brave craze was due to a lot of future value speculation and/or fear that the pins may be nearly impossible to acquire at a later date. I'm sure that once the DVD comes out and people are able to watch it over and over again, the demand for pins will rise again.

It's really hard to say with the current pins listed on eBay as majority of them are OE pins or the rejected Stained Glass DSF pin. And then you have the more wanted Merida/Angus pin at a whopping $308? I am about to post a lot of every single Brave pin ever released to date so we shall see what happens with that. :x:

I think that a big part of the hype for this movie (and it's pins) was that many thought it was the next Disney princess movie. It is, technically, but it wasn't a princess story, or even really a story about Merida herself so much as it was a story about a mother and daughter and their relationship. I loved Brave but I know quite a few people who thought that it was just "ok". I think many thought that Merida was going to be the next big Disney princess and that the pins would blow up like the Tangled/Rapunzel pins have. I could be wrong though and maybe dalakers is right and the DVD release will re-invigorate the craze.

Also, if Merida is coronated/introduced as an "official" / "the newest" Disney princess, that could also cause the pins to sly rocket in value. Verdict is still out on that though as it has not really been mentioned. However, I did see a multi pack of Disney princess dolls at Target that included Merida in the line up, so maybe that's a sign. I think Rapunzel was made official almost a year after Tangled was out (if I'm remembering correctly...)

I liked the movie, but i just think the pins need to be better. I'll continue collecting brave, but i just wish they would do something other than this generic merida pose or merida with cubs. Needs more variety and more mama bear pins(with a crown maybe) ^_^

I really, really want a Mother's Day pin that has Merida and her mom Elinor on their horses together (from the end of the movie), looking at each other smiling. Or simply one of Merida and Queen Elinor hugging

Ok, first of all people, Brave is the best! Can you tell I loved the movie and Merida? True, the prices have gone down from where they initially were but that often happens with pins that are hyped up at their release, as these were. We'll just have to wait and see if interest will go back up from this point on. I will say that I still get pin trade requests for the Angus DSF pin pretty frequently. So interest is out there.

As to the pins,

Totally agree. The Paris/UK store model has been done to death, let's get something new for goodness sakes. When I heard the official announcement about the UK store release pin I was really, really excited to have another Merida pin (of course) but was also excited to see what the new pin would look like. Instead, it just looks a lot like the Paris pins that had just been released. It wasn't really like we were getting anything new. I'd love to see some new designs here. At first, I wasn't really into the DSF pins. I just didn't think, with the exception of the marquee, that they were made very well and that the designs were very clear. But now I like them a lot more, just because they're different from each other and from the Paris/UK pins. I just hope they move away from the current design scheme and give us something to really be excited about soon, perhaps with the DVD release.

Tangled craze really didn't start until after the DVD release. Since Brave has not been released yet it is hard to speculate. We will see.

I enjoyed the Brave film, and wanted to collect some pins, but actually found that too many of the Merida pins have horrible dots for eyes, and are just not appealing. The best one so far is the UK pin, mainly because Merida has proper eyes, and that is the only one I am collecting. I would certainly love to see some more new Brave pins released, and just hope they can get the eyes right in future! Love the three cute bears of course, cant resist that one!

The same thing happened with Tangled. When it was released in theaters the craze was tamed but when it was released on DVD the demand for the pins sky rocketed

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!! It can't be over :'( I love Brave!! Mind you, if it is over, it'll be easier for me to finish my collection haha

It has been sitting at $85 OBO for a while and then it reduced to $65. It is LE 650 for pins sake

and a little one at that! We got to see one of these Pixar Brave Logo pins....

about as long as my pinkie finger and not much wider. plain pewter. The backstamp doesnt even list the LE, or year it was made. booooooooring. and its gonna be dead easy to counterfiet.

+1 But I haven't stopped collecting...well, I guess I've kindof stopped in the sense that I've got all of them now. We need more, and different ones!

perhaps DLRP will release a glitter dress pin of merida? And those bears seem right up JDS and HKDL's alley for collectable! Something new is bound to come out for dvd/blueray release too.

This. I would ADORE a pin of Merida and Elinor on the horses at the end. There are no pins with Elinor on them except for the LE Pixar studios one, and it's arguable that it's even her. Mor'du would obviously have arrows in his back though, I suppose.

I too want more variety. Merida is my favorite princess and all of her pins are sooo repetitive it isn't even funny. :/

I hope the craze isn't over either. Even though those pixar pins were a pain in the butt to obtain I'm finally glad I have a princess to relate to with crazy, curly hair.

Same here! I love Brave pins, yes we need more variety but I think the pins will keep coming... hopefully. I do think she will be made an official Princess sometime in the next year or so! LOL, my hair is like a bush... I definitely share Merida's hairstyle most of the time!

I think the best pin that can come out of that movie would be the tapestry at the end of the movie. If they can make it 3D even better, other than that .... meh to the movie and meh to the existing pins honestly. Don't ask me why I got them

I would not compare this to Rapunzel. Rapunzel is an age old story that survived from generation to generation until Disney took it and made it into a movie - when it comes to princesses I can not say originality is Disney's forte, they take older tales and put their own twist mostly.

Brave was only a mix of Freaky Friday and Brother Bear with a sprinkling of "I don't want to get married" princess. Only time will tell if it will survive or pipe down.

Lol me too! I'm sporting her hairstyle right now.

I hope not, Ive got two spare of the UK pin which Im hoping to trade for ANY Beloved Tales pins lol would hate for them to be worthless
