I was wondering if it is really necessary to keep the cards that the pins come on. I want to put them in my book so I can keep them organized and look at them easily. However, if they are considered to be "worth more" if they are on the card then I will keep them. How much, in your opinion, is keeping the pin on the card or at least keeping the card?

Thanks!

There are some people so afraid of getting scrappers, they only trade if you have the card. I keep all my cards now and just write on the back of it what pin it's for. That way if I decide to trade it off in the future I have it.

I started keeping my cards after there was a thread here about this back in June-ish. I like to display my pins on boards, so I put the cards in a box with a little post-it note on each with the pinpics number and title. Then if I trade them I put them back on the card. They're in the box in pinpics number order so I can find them easily.

That's a good idea. So if you keep the cards in order to give a pin to someone with the card, do you only accept a pin if it is on the card?

Nope. I personally don't care if they're on cards or not, as long as the pin itself looks good. But I have learned there are some people who do, and won't trade without the card. So I keep them since it's not all that much trouble.

I keep the cards for the LE's now, I try to keep them on, around or near the pin they go with.

I dont toss the open edition or rack cards, but they go into my packaging drawer and get used on random pins getting shipped.

**snip/edit**

As to being willing to trade without the card: I generally dont care if it has the card or not. But for some, like the big PODM's they are practically impossible to trade away without a card. IDK why, but the PODM fanatics want them on the backer card.

youre being cautious. Dont worry :} Were all like this at some point. I didnt keep my cards until just recently. Just because it looks professional on my board :]

I keep the back to my LE pins but just keep them in a box as I put my pins on cork. I don't mind if people i'm trading with don't have backing cards.

I don't mind either way since I take them off and put the pins on my board.

But I do keep the backings and card in a box just in case they come in handy like recently as I just got rid of a huge chunk of my Stitch collection.

Surprised there are quite a few people who refused to buy/trade pins without the card, but nothing wrong with being cautious!

Hey we will take your PoDM's with or without cards... lol... anyones anytime!!!

But that being said... We keep all cards and always prefer them on the cards... not me personally, but my wife likes the cards sometimes as much as the pins... Some are vital to the pin, as the artwork of the card goes with the pin itself... Annual Passholder pins seem to do this a lot...

Actually this was my wifes first excuse from going from one set of PoDM's to two sets, since one pin did not have it's original card, thus requiring us to buy our first double... lol... You can see where we have gone from there...

But we do not turn away any pin we like because it does not have a card...

Thanks everyone! I, personally, don't mind if I don't get the card/backing. However, I will be sure hold on to any card/backing that I get in case I want to sell it down the road.

Personally, I'm trading for pins, not cards. I don't have to have the cards for my trades. However I keep the cards because I wouldn't want to miss out on a trade for lack of having it.

I keep all of them myself when I buy new pins (and will include them if I trade/sell later).

The only time I insist on a card being present on a pin I'm trading for is when the card is actually unique to that pin (like the Piece of Disney History series, the card has the explanation of what is actually on the pin, and is different for each pin in the series, so it's nice to have). Any generic card with just a barcode on it I'm not too concerned about...

For the longest time I'd only keep the cards if they were a special card, such as an event or special background. These days I always keep the cards just to ensure I have it in case I ever decide to trade the pin in the future. I find the cards like the Piece of Disney History or Piece of Movie history cards tend to be part of the pin because they have information about the pin, the black backer cards are generic but I keep them in case people I trade with have a preference. Personally I never keep cards for pins in my collection, they are too hard to keep track of.

Currently I'm only keeping the backing cards for LE pins but I might change my mind and keep all my backing cards, after all, they don't take up much space and I could always use them if I decide to sell or trade the pin.
