Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
UK and Europe 17" Frozen Limited Edition Doll buyers I have a theory as to why this has all gone horribly wrong today.
So the Dolls go on sale On line at 8am. Who ever did the pages for the Disney Store Website listed the dolls at £80 as a mistake. This mean't that all stores were called and told to amend the price to £80 from £60 as someone messed up!
This has mean't we have all paid over the original price because someone at Disney messed up!

its unfortunately not a typo or mistake...I called them earlier...I had already placed my order but in my haste not noticed the price until after checkout. Naturally I. Presumed they'd be £60 as we had not heard otherwise from Disney, and the recent Ariel dolls were...anyway, I asked for them to refund the difference back to my account, but they refused saying £80 was correct. I explained that some sites were saying various prices, and instore a lot of people were getting for £60, and that we'd had no prior warning. It fell on deaf ears basically. I asked why earlier when the Elsa dolls were mistakenly released were they priced at £60? Again, no real information.....I told them how disgusted I was that we have to pay more and it wasn't a price increase across the board,I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd prefer £60 but the thing that annoys me the most is the unfairness, and disneystore blatant attempt to get more money from the Europeans/uk.....when we are buying exactly the same product!

so to cut a long story short, she said that the price increase was a last minute decision a couple of days ago, by which point the dolls had been sent to stores with the £60 tags on....a memo was apparently sent to stores. It some got, some didn't....hence the variation in prices.m curious as to why a last minute price rise here? Greed? Then why. It across the board? I cancelled my dolls out of principle and the fact that it's totally unfair.

£40 or $65 is a lot of extra money at this time of year, and without warning so alas, my frozen doll joy was short lived. I should think any future releases will be similar to the increase too, maybe more? Especially if they did a couple set like the Merida and Eleanor dolls.....I'm so sad about disneystore greed....I've been a collector for years, but not at these prices....with a young family, I can't justify any more than £60really. I am putting my refunded money towards a new xbox for my sons Xmas. I'd rather see his smiling face on Xmas day, than have a horrible feeling in my stomach when I look at those dolls, and remember disneystore greed :( i certainly won't be able to get every release at these new prices, and to be honest, wouldn't want to if the prices aren't fair everywhere.

Well done to those of you that got though, and went ahead with your purchase. They look lovely :) xx

I think Maleficent is the most popular villain too, it's just I don't think villains have the wider appeal of heroes. I mean (compared to heroes) I don't think she'd sell out fast as Ariel, Elsa and Anna (USA, not other sites which are not sold out) :D I forgot about Ursula but I saw at least 4 of her on the shelf last weekend at Harrods and my friend said saw her remain on shelf for days at another store so I assumed she doesn't sell well or something but if she sold out in 20-30 mins online thats really impressive but like I said the Malecificent movie could be really popular and chyange everything

I agree with Serafina. There's quite a number of people who like Maleficent, but the Princesses seem more popular. (Like me, I'm more of a Disney Princess fan than the villains. I'm probably not going to get any villains in the future because I don't like them as much as the Princesses. I want the people who actually want the villains have a better chance to get them.) As Serafina said, Maleficent would probably last a few days.

It could very well be that villains are more popular in the US.....because here gosh villains are a big deal...I mean I like Maleficent and if her doll was done really well I might get it. However, I think it would be only put out for Halloween! LOL

Don't forget Maleficent the movie is coming out next year as well so more people will know who she is and she will gain a new fan base. Especially if the movie is done well enough then people may not see her a villain depending on how the movie portrays her. I guess you could say Maleficent is the Ariel of the villains therefore if Ursula sold out in less than 30 minutes then can you imagine what Maleficent will be like? Not to mention it doesn't matter about popularity at the end of the day scalpers and doll collectors will be wanting the doll because it is Disney also whilst we will lose the Disney princess only fans we will also gain the Disney villains only fans.

No, the stores were informed yesterday that the price had changed and that the price stickers the dolls had been shipped with were incorrect. They changed the price intentionally at the last minute, there was no mistake, it was all official.

When I finally got to speak to someone in Customer Services they couldn't give me a reason as to why the price has increased in the UK and Europe.
None of this makes any sense.
I am writing to Disney Head Office and we will see what they have to say.

I really hope that Maleficent is gorgeous! I will buy her in a heartbeat. I have 2 of the Designer Maleficents, one that I opened and cut the cardboard backing off of, and one that's never been opened. That's my girl!

All really good arguments! I really don't know how Maleficent will sell now.. would she beat Aurora? I only want Aurora so I'm biased :D. Mind if I create a 'Maleficent or Aurora' poll? I am really curious to see the results, it's rare that the villain is close to or possibly greater in popularity

So I called the Disney Store about my issue with the billing details for Elsa and they said they originally put a hold on it but then cleared it but just in case she sent the accounts department an email with the correct billing details to avoid any issues. But as of this moment the order is definitely active and is good to go. So that is good to hear.

In relation to Aurora next year I dont think hers will be as bad because there will be around 5-6000 units for her at the very least. (Even if they were to distribute more to the Euro market that would still be a lot). Also she would be released as a pre-order too so it will take a bit longer than these dolls to sell out just because there will be more of her to sell.

My main worry would be for Maleficent, if Ursula was 2,000 then Maleficent should at least be the same if not more. That being said having 2,500 of Maleficent will be same as the Frozen dolls so she could potentially sell out just as fast as the Frozen dolls (12 minutes as confirmed by the lady at the Disney store when I called about my order) if not faster.

In relation to the UK price increase that is just sickening especially with such little warning too, I would have understood a 2 pound increase because at the moment USD$100 is about 62 pounds but even that would be silly but to increase it by 20 pounds is just asking for trouble, especially since the US Disney Store still has the same price, there is definitely something fishy going on with the UK Disney Store and to me it looks like they are starting to realise that their market is growing hence are increasing the availability more (by opening more online stores for different countries and increasing allocated stock) but at the same time increasing the price to take advantage of the UK doll collectors definitely a big no no. I do hope they do not continue this because this is just wrong and unfair to the UK customers.

.

Good to hear polaris! Glad everything worked out with no issues ;)

I am very nervous about Maleficent, especially with the movie being released next year. It would be great for them to do pre-order for the doll.

I dont think it is a matter of if Maleficent will sell more than Aurora because at the end of the day Aurora will have more units available compared to Maleficent. I think it is just more a matter of Maleficent selling out fast. Let's face it guys these dolls have become more and more popular especially now that more people know about them. I mean the Frozen movie hasnt even come out yet and yet the dolls sold out faster than the longer lasting characters such as Ursula and Eric. This just means that the popularity is increasing and the demand even moreso, granted the Frozen release is a little skewed as the number of units made available in the US were lowered due to the distribution to the UK but that being said that just brought their edition size down to the same size as Eric.

Doll collecting really is becoming more and more crazy and Disney is taking advantage of this hype. I honestly think that the "last minute" price increase in the UK is a result of the UK noticing that people still paid 500 pounds for the Harrods set even though the variances were minor so figured they would increase their prices (as they would have had to pay Harrods a commission or proportion of the sales made through that set) in the hope that people would still buy the dolls. This is just a dirty move by Disney and I hope whoever decided this at Disney Store UK gets fired for making this decision. Not only will the stock held at the UK just sit there but scalpers in the US will revel at their luck and sell the items a marked up prices to take advantage of those that missed out in the US. No one is going to buy these dolls from the UK store because not only do they have a smaller market than the US but now that market is even smaller because there are those that refuse to pay 20 pounds more for a doll that they know should only be valued at 60 pounds.

Thanks Alicia! I agree the demand for these dolls are just going to make it more and more difficult to collect them.

Hey everyone! This is my first time posting on here and my first time ordering the limited edition 17" dolls, my order status still says active is that common? I'm starting to get nervous lol.

Here is the cute little slips they handed out to guests in line (woohoo! I was #1 at the Florida Mall!)

And of course... the beautiful Anna and Elsa I obtained! I'm so happy with them! :)

I wish they would have let us! They were so strict about not letting us have them back, I asked so nicely and everything. At least I got a picture to commemorate! And thank you! :)
Congrats on the dolls!! They are so beautiful!! But seriously, they did not let you keep the cards? That's a bit extreme. I guess they are worried some people will try to make money of the cards too, which would not surprise me considering some folks were actually trying to sell the flyers for the Designer Fairytale collection. Talk about nuts! Either way, They should have let people keep the cards, they probably threw them out anyway. Congrats again! can't wait to get Elsa.

Whatttt? You couldn't keep the cards? We did at my store, for every same day release I've attended. These wishy washy rules are getting really annoying.

Funny, our store got a stack of like 50 cards for 3 of each doll.

Yeah, it was a bummer because they were so pretty, but oh well. I feel like they wouldn't let us out of fear that people would try to reuse the cards by changing the numbers and buying a second set. Our store also only had 10 Anna's and 9 Elsa's, which I assume means a cast-member wanted to buy an Elsa, but I feel bad for that 10th person who will go to get both but will only be able to get one. From what I saw, everyone in line wanted both in the end. I'm glad I had a friend there with me today too just in case, hearing that some stores were only letting people buy one or the other... that stinks. :/ She also was a good force to get me out of the store before I could spend more money on the snowglobe, the mugs, etc... :P

Agrimmending...I was the third person in line at Florida Mall (the one in the pink hoodie sitting next to your friend)! I've seen your posts on the forum but had no idea that was you! Small world. :)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these dolls! They are really beautiful. I thought I was going to love Elsa more prior to seeing the dolls in person (and I really do love them both equally), but I must say if I was forced to only have one of them I would choose Anna...her dress is gorgeous and I just love everything about her. :) I also really like the artwork featured on the background of their boxes...it has almost a retro/Mary Blair-esque feel to it, which I love. My Elsa is #702 and Anna is #480.

I'm kind-of glad that I wasn't able to get them on the website because now I have them in hand and was able to pick them out. The first Elsa I looked at had a pretty noticeable crease on one of the corners of the box....not to mention I seem to have really bad luck with Disney control and UPS shipping LOL. But yeah, even though I am running on two hours of sleep right now it has turned out to be a fantastic day! :)

Was mine the only store that made you choose? You couldn't purchase both.

I can't believe they didn't let you purchase one of each character! Don't they realize the characters are sisters and that makes them a "set" kind-of situation? Really strange. :dunno:
