Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information

I signed the petition. But, I think it misses the most important point about the false advertising? Does not mention to that these dolls were advertised for for £60, the original early link webpages displayed £60, staff in stores told people to expect £60, and the stickers said £60 in the stores while they were open and some honoured the price on the stickers.

Instead, it concentrates on peoples disappointment about the price increase...'why should we pay more when other places don't'

I think there would be more of a result if the false advertising issue were highlighted, I think anyone would ignore this particular petition to be totally honest because the information doesn't show what was actually wrong (sorry that is what I think)

Prices of a lot of things increase and we can't do anything, it doesn't even matter if previously the other dolls in the series cost cost £60.
The fact is that THESE were advertised that they would be £60....that's more of a case

I think Trading Standards take more notice of facts than opinions. But I think it's a great6 idea and applaud the person for making the petition.

That petition doesn't come from for our French board, a member discovered it on it's own while searching for news. I know it's not the perfect petition, but here in france, we are all writing to the head direction a letter too. We have the fake advertising that is still showing!!! and we are doing thing to try to show and protest in a another way, with guest assossiation defense.

I got my blast off e-mails around 6:00PM PST. I'm glad they are coming in one box (they both have the same tracking number), so I can sneak a peek at Anna (who is a Christmas .

I ordered Anna and Elsa in one order and they are being shipped separately. I got two different tracking numbers. You are so lucky!!! You dolls will probably be shipped in. Big box and have extra protection.

I wouldn't. This is a terrible way to think of things. If all retailers thought that way nothing would be affordable. Sure there are scalpers who are going to profit, but would you really want to not have at least the the chance to buy something at a reasonable retail cost? If the dolls were suddenly brought up to scalper prices most people would not be able to collect them. Disney would lose customers and lower edition sizes. Sure scalpers would stop buying too, but it would not be of value to Disney and it is a stupid thing to suggest if you are the consumer.

Not to mention, you just said you'd rather pay Disney (a multimillion dollar company who is doing just fine) premium price for something that cost them much much less to make rather than a scalper who might need this sale to help meet daily living. Personally, I'd rather have the chance at paying Disney a fair reasonable price which still even at current prices is making them a huge profit, and if I miss out I can choose to pay a scalper (or collector who is deciding to sell, not all resellers are scalpers) if I still really want the doll and am willing to pay second hand prices. At least here you have a choice. And paying Disney big bucks is not better than paying scalpers big bucks. In that case the rich just get richer. As mad as I was at the family of scalpers who bought up like 8 sets of the five last Designer Princesses, I at least saw that the family might have had a need for the money greater than Disneys need for bigger profit. Not going to go into why I suspect they needed it.

 I rather if Disney increased the Edition size and kept the same old price tag of $99 so us true collectors have no problem getting the dolls, than to pay for lower edition dolls with a higher price tag. Now THAT would truly deter scalpers! :ugh:

A little light of hope (i am probably the only one here, but i want to share it) about the "wrong price" of Frozen dolls.

Like i've posted days a go my order on italian site, with Elsa who cost 70€ and not 90€ (after 9:20am italian-europe time ,they changed it too),
my order status is "processed" and I've received the mail of shipping!

Disney italian service sent me a mail too with these words (translated): "We apologize for the price increasing. But the mistake is made by us, so you are fast enough to order the doll before the price change. We will send you the doll without a problem."

:hs:

I will have my Elsa for the right price and this make me feel soo good.

Anyway, it was a really big error for a big company like Disney. Shame on you, Disney , for that mistake.
The most "disgusting" thing in years (even worst than Designer Princesses nightmare).

I'll try to do a mini-review/comparison with photos of LE Snow White and LE Alice against LE Elsa and LE Anna (sounds like an organized fight event!), but it will have to be after I have actually received the LE Frozen dolls, but I totally agree with Polaris' assessment. As always, it will be in the Doll Appreciation Thread when it is done.

As for the increase in price debate, I agree that increasing the retail price is not really the answer to deter resellers, and it really does make these items less accessible to people on a budget. For every reseller that drops out because they cannot afford the higher price, there will always be another reseller out there with the resources to take their place. The best answer is to increase the edition sizes/the number produced. This has always been a problem with collectibles: limited quantities = a frenzy to obtain = increased values that people are willing to pay for these items = sharks. If there are enough (or more than enough) to go around, then people can get these items at cost, or maybe even lower (re: the Designer Villains -- and keep in mind that I really love the Designer Villains collection, and to date they are the only collectible DS dolls that I have taken the time to debox and appreciate out of the factory packaging).

As for the bait-and-switch in pricing done by the UK/European DS over the LE Frozen dolls, that was incredibly wrong, and they should be held accountable if they advertised a certain price and then switched it without any prior formal announcement. That is just bad business.

Well I didn't expect to have the popular opinion, but without Disney would we even have these dolls to bicker about? also I never said that I agreed with the surprise increase Being done as a "surprise" and only to our European friends, if they were going to do that it should have been done world wide and not at the last moment. further if 30.00 is going to break someone they really shouldn't be buying these dolls in the first place. I was raised to never argue over money. Its rude and crass. Had I have gone to buy the dolls and found that I would have to pay 60.00 more Id be surprised yes but Id have paid and just moved on. If someone want the dolls bad enough they will pay.

It seems like it finally hit actual management attention, at least people kept calling and trying to get through! Because to only have a price hike in the UK was weird, it should have happened everywhere if there was a real price hike.

Glad to hear they rectified the situation. they shouldn't have increased the price over there in the first place if it wasn't going to be done world wide.

We got the same message in France ^^ victory ^^ , we did good european to not let it go !! ( unlike Elsa lol ) .

I am thinking from what I have read that France may have done the most to get this turn-around for us all XD You guys and your scary protesting. You scary wonderful french people you

(I mean, I think everyone contributed with their emails and phonecalls and stuff but you guys are champion protesters, when I read about the reaction at the Champs Eylees Disneystore I was scared haha)

thank you, yes, don't make french people angry lol , we cut our king and queen heads one time. LOL ; But it's true we are known to be particulary effective when we are not happy protest is our national sport lol. But I'm sure some UK and other european people complained a lot too.

thank you to all the people who didn't give up and protested ^^

Pupuce I'm so glad you frenchies went and protested.
I too was disappointed as I had only 70€ with me for Elsa and thus could not get either so I went away empty handed.

Also I don't know if I saw you pupuce unless it WAS you I asked if you were on a forum hahaha

Woot Woot! My Elsa is blasting off. I guess that email came yesterday too. Maybe I'm off in my timing/memory, but didn't the Ursula/Eric dolls take like double the time for the blast off emails? I could have sworn my Ursula took like 3-4 days to blast off, but Elsa took a day? Not complaining, but I think that is pretty cool and sounds nicely efficient on their end.

Is anyone else that bought their doll(s) on disneystore.co.uk having problems with tracking their order? :/

Do they use Myhermes to ship internationally? Because they use it to ship within UK, and I am getting this 'Missing Pre-Advice'

I get this EVERY time. But the package always arrives, eventually. Myhermes are notoriously crappy, though I have always received my parcels

Well done everyone for sticking together and getting this sorted! Does anyone know when they will be back up for sale on the UK website? I don't want to have to spend the whole weekend checking every 5 mins! Maybe they won't even update it till Monday?
