Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information

Since the ariel doll is sold out, I keep freaking out that I didn't pre-order her, so I keep checking the order details everyday. >__>

And don't forget that as long as it is a Limited Edition, people will buy it. The rarer the doll, the better it'll sell. Especially with the scalpers. I can see Eric being a LE of 500-1000 and Ursula/Vanessa being a LE of 2000-2500. Also, I'm ok with Disney having a bigger box for Ursula. They could have the box double the width and it would match with two of the dolls (Eric and Ariel).

And I think that they're saving The Evil Queen for the inevitable Snow White re-release. Do you guys think that this line will last long? When do you think we'll get our last Limited Edition doll? It would be interesting if the very last release were sets of the 11(soon to be 13) princess grouped by their time.
Also, If Disney released a line of extremely accurate dolls, would you guys buy them? So no accessories beyond what the characters wear in the movie.

Aaand now I'm paranoid on whether DS.com got my order through or not. Is the confirmation email and the receipt email the same thing? It says they'll let me know within 48 hr. if it becomes unavailable, and I've got maybe 4-5 hr. left in that period. >< I also bought another item off of the site at the same time; will this affect my order in any way? Will I have to wait till October to receive the other item as well?

I can't comment on the rest but I believe they'll ship your other item now and Ariel in Oct. That's what happened to me last year when I preordered Cindy + purchased my ear hats. Got the ear hats a few weeks later (to Aus) and my doll shipped later. I bought 2 more ear hats at th3 same time as Ariel and I expect them to ship first (plus my whole order has been paid for) - saves me about $50 on postage preordering and purchasing other items at once.

As far as Eric- I'm excited for him and I hope they actually release him even if it's a low LE.... Mostly because I love the idea of a change-up and next year I REALLY want Phillip
As far as his clothing options- I mean technically Eric has more options than a lot of the guys. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Eric places second for prince with the most outfit options (Naveen has about seven!). So whatever they choose, I just hope it's not the standard sailor outfit because they have choices. Speaking of which- what about this one? Close to his sailor outfit, but the navy version with a cloak! Could be fun~

I agree with everyone saying they should put out more dolls of Disney guy villains. I think some of the greatest villains get passed over (Jafar and Dr.F!).
I still cannot believe Ariel is showing up as sold out. INCONCEIVABLE!

Well I was watching that pre-order auction on Ebay. The person had it for 200, buy it now for 299, and it got sold for the 299....wow...

Did u check and see if the listing was shipping "worldwide" it seems those auctions are the ones getting the bids not US

Yes! I was thinking of that outfit too. Yes and the whole Ariel sold out thing is strange.

So I haven't seen the doll in person yet, but pictures that I have seen online of the actual doll clearly show her stand...

And it looks like there is no stand in the picture of Ariel (in her box) from the Disney Store website...

Do you think they just photoshopped the stand out for the website picture, or did they figure out a way to fasten her in the box without the obvious stand?

For those that pre-ordered her in person...did you definitely see a stand in the box (like the first picture)?

Yes, the stand is COMPLETLEY visible in the box. On the two I saw (at different stores) it didn't even sit flush, it was on like a tilt, I guess from the weight distribution of the doll.

And, yes, that's a definite photoshop-type job on the site pic. There's no way to hide that pole up her butt.

I wonder if they didn't slip at all with the Ariel and Ursula hint being on the Ariel page for a few minutes. I bet they did it on purpose to keep the buzz going and increase anticipation. Disney has some of the best marketing people in the world. It's pretty genius to hint at the possibilities to drum up interest and keep us all focused on what they'll do next. Also, I was actually impressed with the speed of the website. I was slow for maybe ten minutes, but I got my order through in 2 minutes and I kept checking and after 10-15 minutes things were going fast. I would definitely buy Eric because to me the princesses are not complete without the princes.

Thanks for clarifying! I really don't like the look of the stand, but I guess for those that want to de-box and display her I guess they might need it.

That's the one thing that makes me nervous about ordering online...after being shaken around by UPS (which is notorious for throwing things around LOL) who knows what position the doll/stand will be in when she gets to me. :anxious:

YAnd, yes, that's a definite photoshop-type job on the site pic. There's no way to hide that pole up her butt.

I wish they wouldn't photoshop! Her hair also looks really full and voluminous (extending the full length of her arm to her bracelet) in the website picture compared to the in-store picture.

^^^And you can see that the front of the doll stand doesn't sit flush against the box, lol.

The visible stand doesn't bother me at all. And I'm a sealed doll collector. However (don't hate me) I also preodered another one to open this time around...

Here's one of the pix I took at my DS. You can see that the front of the stand tilts upward.

Also, this Ariel was NOT in the best state. Her hair was ratchety and her scales were flipped up, showing the material it's sewn to underneath.

At the 2nd store I went to, she was pristine. I was too out of it at that point to take pix. (Pulled an allnighter to be first in line)

So true! Each individual doll varies so much, depending on how she was handled at the factory through to shipping to your home, so I would not be surprised if we see some variances in her stance and hair in the box. Luckily, these boxes are easy to open and close without compromising the collectible integrity of the doll, so minor fixes can be done.

On that note, I saw a picture of an in-store display LE Ariel and her hair was a royal mess at the top (I think this was on facebook), which I found strange, because the CMs are totally capable of opening the box and fixing her up before putting her out on display on the sales floor. All of the LE and Designer dolls sold in-store are supposed to go through a final in-store backroom quality check before actually being sold to store guests, so don't think for a moment that many of the in-store dolls have not had their cases/boxes opened at some point between being packaged in the factory and when they are sold.

I can take it or leave it with the stand. With the tail being posable, I can try to hide it with her tail. I just hope my doll doesn't have messed up hair or a bad paint job.on that note are there any collectors who display their dolls outside their boxes? I can do it with my Hot Toys figures but haven't done so with these dolls.

I love the coral details on her. They were so unexpected and cool. She, Snow White, Alice, and both Rapunzels are my favorites in this series. I also love Tiana, the Queen of Hearts and Gothel. They all have just the right amount of detail. I wish Cinderella, Elinor/Merida, and Belle were as well done. They seem to fall short in my opinion.

Yay, my aunt preordered mine at a Texas store! Any idea why this time around there where no Mini folders with the piture of the doll in it to save your preorder ticket like previous releases?

Maybe it was just the store she ordered it from, because I got one with both of the dolls I preordered at the San Diego store, and my friend got one as well.

I like the wedding Rapunzel, Merida (alone) and Calhoun and the Eli/Merida pack but I do agree they could have put more detail on those two like they did with the first Merida doll. Still very pretty though.Elinor had good detail but I feel like they left Merida out of this time. Ariel will def be one of my new favorites! BUT I do love all of them lol ^_^;; And will continue to collect all of them past and future lol I'm a sucker.

how come all these people on ebay allowed to sell pre-order goods when they don't physically have the item in their possession?!! paypal only gives you 45 days to make a claim and if someone paid today they are screwed after that if any problems occur as the item not officially relesead till 1st oct!! so wrong!!!!
