Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
I am shocked, in part. I thought she would sell out "fast" but by "fast" I thought a week! I'm so glad I didn't hesitate.
I am thinking if a store already has an Ursula, if that is true, she may come before Eric. It seems strange that they would have her so soon ahead of the pick-up date.

I've read reports stating that too. It doesn't really make that much sense to me at all. Even if it was a (God forbid) skinny Ursula, those are still some big boxes and they take up a lot of storage space, no matter if they are or aren't in the shipping boxes. 2 months of just sitting there and collecting dust, and then with all their other shipments and set changes, unless they have a HUGE stock room, it just seems like they would be too much in the way.
But more importantly, I am doubting that they really are in stockrooms because...where be my d**n leaked pics? ;)

I dunno, all I care about is Ursula and whether she is Ursula, "Vanessa", or..."Anorexula". ;)

This is my favorite collection of the dolls, I just need to get my hands on Belle! She is my favorite Disney character of all, and I was unaware of her release until long after she hit at least $250 on the after-market :(.

I need a 17" Vanessa. Ursula is cool and all, but if she's not full-figured then I feel like Disney can't get away with the "designer" excuse again and it'll just be lame. But even if she is full-figured... I think Lady Tremaine is creepy looking enough on my shelf- I don't know if I could handle an 17" Ursula with tentacles hahaha

and I can't even fathom that she actually already "sold out." I think it was probably just a temporary error while they fixed the page or something. Ariel is popular, but I don't think she's THAT popular. And geez they added an extra 1000 to the edition size. I think there will still be some people who find out about it later or who are iffy about the price (like first time Le17 buyers). I'd consider it a record if she still sold out within two weeks.

I really want an LE Vanessa too. A full figured Ursula could not fit into the same size box as the other LE 17" dolls. Somehow I just don't see Disney using a larger box. It would be a really dumb move on Disney's part to make Ursula skinny to fit into the same size box. I keep wondering what they'll do with Eric too. His sailor outfit is his iconic outfit, but it's being used in the Designer set so I don't think they would release two dolls of him so close together wearing the same outfit. But making him with his wedding outfit wouldn't make sense either because Ariel isn't in her wedding dress. So the only outfit left that he actually wore would be the one which he wore when he was under Vanessa's spell. So if they chose that outfit it would make more sense to go with Vanessa and not Ursula especially since Vanessa would fit into the box without any problems.

I really don't know what Disney will do with these two. There are just too many options. Plus until a couple days ago we didn't even know that there was going to be a LE Eric doll. I just hope in the end that whether they choose Ursula or Vanessa and whichever outfit they choose for Eric turns out well. The two things that Eric must have though are rooted hair and a head that is proportional to his body. Without these two things the price really couldn't be justified.

Are we absolutely sure that there is going to be an LE Eric? Because like most of you have said there really is not much in terms of clothing option for him. I know it was released on the site but that in itself could have been a typo or an error because like i said if you look at the other merchandise they all have the same speil about Ursula and Eric being sold separately.

If they were to release an Eric the only one that I can see them doing is if they were to do another double set similar to Elinor and Merida but have Eric and Vanessa in there but I don't see them doing that because that would be weird to have the prince with the villain rather than the princess. Or they could do a double with Ariel in human form in her wedding dress with Eric?

I dunno I just find it hard to believe that they will release a human based male LE doll on its own, it just seems so out of the box for Disney. But like I said before it would be a nice surprise if they did do that but it just still seems so unlikely. Also don't forget the Merida and Elinor box is slightly different to the other LE doll boxes within the same series so I do see Disney changing up the box size to suit the contents.

I could see them doing a LE Eric and Vanessa doll of them in their wedding outfits. I hope they don't do that because I want a LE Vanessa doll by herself.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did have a LE Eric doll because TLM is so popular and maybe they want to go all out on the merchandise because they know people will definitely buy it.

I was thinking...and after I took some Advil to alleviate the resulting pain...I thought of something. They could essentially get away with a "skinny" Ursula. If they did it like the Broadway Ursula, then she is plump...but in a flat way. I dunno, I want her to look like the cartoon character. I really like the way that they made the Ariel doll look like a Fanstasmic or parade version. For the Ursula, I'm totally open to showy and glitzy interpretations...but I want her I still look like the actual cartoon character. O.o I swear, now that Ariel has become a reality, I'm like so extra excited for Ursula.
Just watch though, Ursula will be released and we'll be all excited and then we'll look at her and be all,"YES! HERE SHE...oh......kay.........huh. Well then." I mean, she is the biggest risk of a doll to make. I dunno, I have OCD, love my villains, and can't skip one. If she does look terrible, I know I'll still end up buying her.

I do think Ursula would be amazing as a plus size doll, plus she would be the first that I am aware of which I think would make the doll series stand out more. Either way the LE dolls have always been replicas of the animated character with the only exception beig the Queen of hearts. So if they are to do Ursula they really should stick with the plus size version or do a Vanessa doll instead should they not want to go down the plus size track. Either way whatever Disney decides to do will definitely either attract more people to Ursula or deter those that are currently interested in her. I think her appearance will have a huge factor on her demand.

I do understand that they know that TLM is popular and Disney does have a tendency to release dolls spontaneously depending on the demand but I still struggle to see how they would go about selling an Eric doll. I have was on here that a lot of people do not collect male dolls so I guess you could assume that would already decrease the number of those that would want an Eric doll to just those that collect dolls and more specifically the Disney ones.

I dunno, dolls have always been marketed towards a more prominent female audience and for some reason male dolls just never really kicked off. To be honest without a partner having Eric on his own could just look awkward or too ordinary. As mentioned on here as well like a magnified version of the classic doll. Maybe they could release Eric in the other series of LE dolls and have him marketed more like an action figure than a doll? Sorta like what they did with Toy Story. I dunno it's hard to explain but I find it hard to picture what the doll would look like as all I can really picture is a bigger version of the classic doll. Unless the doll is stunning it will be difficult for Disney to find a target audience for this sort of doll even with all the TLM fan fare.

I have no hope for Eric, surely they proven to us with the Designer collection that they aren't able to cut it with guy dolls. Plus it'll be a huge pain only having a LE Eric and no Prince Charming, or Eugene, or Beast/(unofficial) Adam, or Naveen. The only male dolls I want are the male villains (Gaston and Facilier) to go with my female LE villains AND we're still waiting on a LE Evil Queen - proof that if they do start making Princess all of a sudden then we'll be waiting for ages for them to 'catch up on all the missing ones' or they'll make my collection look silly.
Sorry.... // rant over.
Annnnd I want fat Ursula! Haha

Yay, my aunt preordered mine at a Texas store! Any idea why this time around there where no Mini folders with the piture of the doll in it to save your preorder ticket like previous releases?

I guess I'm in the minority because even though I'm not a Little Mermaid collector, I'm really excited about a LE Eric. :wiggle: Maybe it's my subconscious being nostalgic...when my sister and I were little, she always had to have the princesses, so I always ended up with the prince/male lead.

RIGHT!? I was up all night and then a few more hours in the hopes that they would have released a Captain Hook during the Peter Pan re-re-re(?)-release. If they are going to start making the male characters, then it makes sense to do the ones that are open to some glitzy and glam goth looks because they will fit so easily. Jafar, Captain Hook, and Dr. Facilier can have more luxurious materials, gems, and fancier styling. (AND! I totally have designed Dr. Facilier's box in my mind. It'd be black with the show creatures around the windows and then his background is a haunting green to make him really pop out.) Plus, their color schemes match with those already released. If (When) they sell out and prove to be successful, then Disney might want to branch out, but the only other male that I can think of "fitting in" would be Hades. His gems could be done in a way that makes it seem like embers or his blue fire.

The princess...yeah...no. Like many have said before, it would be like a very expensive large play doll. Almost like you had to pay a ton to get a non singing male companion to the singing doll line. And, you know me, I am all for dipping things in glue and then rolling it around in crystals, but the boys would look just like that. The only one that would make sense would be Aladdin as Prince Ali. To coat them in velvets, silks, and gems would be to make them look like Siegfried and Roy with out the kitties. ;)

AND I WANT THE EVIL QUEEN RELEASED ALREADY!!!! I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!

I think there would still be a market out there for Eric but not one as large as Ariel and Ursula due to the fact that he is a male doll and if he is as expensive as the current line up that would just deter people more as it will be difficult to justify the price as well. I think what I am more interested in is if the release of that information on the Disney Store website about matching Ariel against the Ursula and Eric LE counterparts was is a mistake and a result of a typo or if in fact is based on future LE releases that someone had just slipped out info by mistake.

Just that some people have mentioned on here that they spoke with cast members who said they cannot say much but at the same time did not say that it would just be Ursula. I think we can be certain that Ursula/Vanessa is a given but I am intrigued to see if Disney has taken up the challenge of releasing a male LE doll and what they decide to do to sell/market him and really what the final product will look like as similar to Ursula I think that will determine the demand for the doll. I hate it when Disney does stuff like this as it just leads to more speculation and anticipation haha.

Also I agree with others in that the male villains would work as LE dolls mainly because of how much they stand out more in comparison to the princes. They definitely have a lot more going on for them as most have over the top or unique features that Disney uses to really make them look evil or menacing which could really work for a doll. Also their clothing could definitely be glammed up in a manner that would really work for the doll. So there is definitely more potential there than there is for the princes.

I dunno the tricky thing is when does it start becoming more of a figure than a doll? Or rather when does it cross over from one to the other. Because I have seen a lot of figures out there based on male characters which have been dressed up like a doll but are considered figures and not dolls.

I'd imagine that a 17" Eric doll would have rooted hair because of the scale being easier to work with?
