Little Mermaid Boxset Break-up? ( now with PICTURES!)

we have a beautiful ariel box set...
Pin 27727: Little Mermaid Wooden Boxed Pin Set

it comes in a beautiful wooden box, which if deep enough to use for a small jewellery box.

the pins on there own are wanted including some pins we really want
but as a set not-so-much...

so we need your help?
do we split the set up?
trade as a set?
auction with both options?

Personally, if I'm ever lucky enough to find one of these I would break it up. I only like 3 of the 5 pins and I'd rather use the box for jewelry as you suggested

if you could trade them away for more than they are as a set then I would offer both options if you were to auction the set off as gives you best of both worlds just in case people like some but not all of them.

holy moly thats a togh one and i come across the same problem 4 times this year, and i held the set and held it and finally broke each one up becuase i needed or wanted most of them but either 1 was a double or something and i trade the left over and keep the boxes. but now i have all these empty boxes that i love and feel gguilt tossing......so here is an idea.

I have my little pin trading area...and in the boxes i keep.......labels/my "business" cards/ foam squares for loose pins/cool stickers/ "gifts" i wrap with like disney pencils button pins, pixie dust and finally customs forms. So it kinda looks pretty and serves a function

I had that set and broke it up. I don't have a problem breaking up boxed set, framed ones are another story for me. I am just glad some people don't mind breaking them up!!!

Personally I love the whole set and in need of all 5 pins. Ariel is at the top of my list and if I had the opportunity to get the whole set I'd go for it. I know I just don't have trades for this. So I would say your best bet is to break the set and try to get more of your wanted pins in individual trades.

I have trouble breaking up a set in something like that...nice wooden box and all. Most sets I would split, but I have a hrader time the nicer the packaging gets. I wince when I bust open frames...

BTW, if you're trading it, I've always wanted it.

I personally just like the bottom two and middle three, so I would only be interested in one of those, and not the whole set. If I were you, I would offer both options or auction both options! Good luck!

if the set is less sought after than the individual pins, break it up.

You might put it on the trade lists offering as a set or singles. See what you get... There are loads of ariel collectors out there, you might do it as an auction,

as a set or singley ((include the box as a single bid item since it will be a good jewelry box.

wow thats a cool set, but you can probably get more of your wants by breaking it up, and what a great idea using the box for jewelry. I really like the one where she is signing the contract how cool.

I think the auction idea is great because, personally, I have trouble breaking up sets, so when you auction it off (if you don't want any of the pins that is) you can tell me to mention in their bids if their bidding for the whole set or one individually.

Personally, I don't like splitting up boxed sets, especially this one as it is super lovely! Although when I did an auction for the brave boxed set, i gave the option of a co-op for the set so there would be more bids. I was really happy though that it went home to someone as a set though.

Personally, we wouldn't break it up, but if you are breaking it up we would so bid on any of the pins AND we would also like the box (if you do that too) !

I love the Ariel and Flounder pin but all the pins I own that you want, I wouldn't be willing to trade. I recommend breaking up the set, you'll get a lot of nice pins for these.

The box is very nice, however the only one I would want is her signing the contract. WANTS!!! If u auctioned that one I would take a whack at it

But hey, it's ur set; whatever u decide to do w/ it Plus if u auctioned the whole thing I'd prolly still bid and somehow won I would keep the contract one and auction off the rest ^^; lol
