Live from this crazy line at DTD!
I am just going to never get anything that is LE Frozen :( I am reading this and very new to pins.....I really want the Elsa pin but there is NO WAY in Hades I am going to be prepared for the insanity that will more than likely occur. Sigh....I am feeling the same way with trying to get the November Elsa doll that was released. I wish people would stop scalping the Frozen products and save them for the people who truly want them -_- This whole Frozen Frenzy is too much for me. They are so expensive that I am not going to be able to afford any other pins, dolls, or vinylmations for a good while! I am quite certain that people are forgetting that Elsa sang "Let it Go" NOT "Hoard it All" Sorry for those who truly wanted a pin and got screwed over by selfish greedy people :(

Several of those bodies were very, very small children apparently. Total suck.

Yeah. there should be an age limit. If youre in a stroller you cant have a wrist band. If you allowed your child to wait in line all morning you shouldnt be allowed to buy one as well. lol

I can't believe some of you are thinking of buying/trading with that cast member I would tell him where to go does any one know if he's on here because I want to tell him how selfish he is and I don't want to trade with him

I saw the person who got all 38 pins. I could point him out in a crowd but I don't know who he was. He counted all of his "people" (mostly children) out loud and said, "ok! We got 18! ...wait, 19!" I wanted to puke.

Since the reseller has bragged about being onsite from 1:30 am it's really wrong. There have been soooo many reports of miserable/crying kids being dragged along. Sure people keep your children out of school so you can make money. Total trash.

Maybe I am living way too much in my own little happy world and totally cluess, but I have to ask this for once and all to clarify:

From what I have been reading, this person is a CM. I was under the impression that Disney employees are NOT allowed to buy and sell Disney stuff, especially for profit. This is a very honest inquiry, so please feel free to correct me if I am wrong - but without biting my head off if possible :)

Well that was an interesting read.

Last night (or should I say Thursday night) was pretty crazy. I was one of the people that arrived a little before midnight Thursday/Friday night. At that time, there were maybe 30 of us in line behind the Rainforest Cafe. Within 20 minutes, Disney security came by and told us that we could not stand in line there due to safety reasons. We were lining up along a red curb, and we could potentially block any emergency vehicles. Cars were told to leave the DTD parking lot and we were told that they could potentially be towed. Some kept their cars in the DTD parking lot, others moved their cars to residential streets, while I (and 2 others) moved our cars to another lot and took a short taxi ride back to DTD.

About 10-15 of us went to hang out at Trader Sams, enjoying some drinks. Once 1:30am hit, we were receiving reports that people at the DTD lot were being pushed out and told that they could stand on the sidewalk outside of the Disneyland Hotel. Not as an official line, but as it was not Disney property, Disney would not be able to push anyone away. People began to gather there, and an "Unofficial" line was started. Any cars that tried to park at the lot were turned around. The DTD lot would re-open at 6am, the same time that we would be able to walk back onto property. We joined that line around 3:30 am. By 4:30, a Disney cast member, who we believe was in charge of special events, stopped by. She took a look at the line and we were told that we would be escorted onto the property at 6am, and that the parking lot would be opened after we were escorted.

6am came, and the line slowly began to move. It was a long trek to DTD, but it was done smoothly and without incident. Upon arriving, we saw the second line set up next to ESPN zone.

These people were staying at the Hotel and told to line up there. The first few hundred (I was within the first 150) were split up into 4 smaller lines next to one another. The Hotel guests were then lined up in the 5th line, and the rest of the guests in the long looooooong line were set up in the 6th line up that continued through to the DTD parking area.

Wristbands were handed out for the 2 pins and the LE Vinylmation that was also being released at D-Street. We were moved again to another line in front of the pin shop.

They opened at 8 am, and we purchased our pins. We heard that people who did not receive a wrist band were very irritated and loud with the cast members. Understandable but what I don't understand is, looking at the huge line in front of you, and with only 375 Anna wrist bands being handed out, why would you stay? Easily 800 people there. I hope that didn't sound rude. To me, it doesn't make sense to stay and get irritated with so many people ahead of you.

It was hectic, and yes, perhaps we were not supposed to line up prior to 5am, but keep in mind every other Disney pin release. Especially those on the West Coast. If people want the pin, you need to be a little crazy and get there earlier than stated. It was my first big Disneyland release, so I got there hours before. I had heard that many people would be doing the same. I wanted to secure my pins.

As for that guy who purchased a butt-ton of those PTN pins, ignore him. This is a guy who has been rude to many pin traders while he acts like a "nice guy" he posts braggy photos like that. Don't let his actions bother you. He brings lots of people to these releases and pays them for it (apparently with Disneyland tickets). I do not think that he is a cast member. Just a jerk. A nice little known fact, he was the FIRST and only person who has been perma-banned from DPF. After being rude and arguing with other members, he threatened to hack and destroy the forum. Keep that in mind.

He may have 30-something Anna pins, but what he doesn't have is the respect of the pin trading community.

Are PTN events ALWAYS like this or is it just the frozen bug? I would love to attend one in the future but if it is always going to be hectic like this I don't know if my nerves could handle it lol! I was debating on going to WDW in April but I have technically never been to there. Just was there for a half marathon weekend but didn't attend any parks (except downtown disney) since my legs were tired lol! So I don't really know my way around the place.

Here's the 411 on selling for profit for cast members...

"cast members are prohibited from making a profit by selling items purchased with a cast member discount. Items received as gifts from Disney or that were purchased from Disney at full price are not restricted. it's hard to enforce, but a cast member risks the unemployment line if discovered, or if "turned" in."

To be fair, I have yet to meet a person who sells/trades popular pins at cost. So this cast member making extra cash and putting the extra work to get these pins pretty much does the same thing we all do. Except he has the resources and perfect location to do it from.... Lol

That was one crazy release. What a long day. We got to DTD at 2:30 am. After the release, we did some trading in the park and eventually made our way to the PTN event. We left the event around 9:15 pm. I was sooooo tired.

Btw to those who wondered I did get my car keys back. Five hours after I reported it to lost and found at dlh someone turned them in. Big thanks to Rosie at guest relations for her help and for charging my phone!

Disney has the ability to pull a report of a CMs purchases. Dates, what they bought, etc. They do "audit" people when they see suspicious spending. They do fire people. Although my experience is WDW where certain CM pin resellers have been "popped." Don't know DLs process and when they decide to audit.

This probably explains why those pins are listed as "used" on Ebay. But he still had the wits to post the picture with the backer cards. Oh well ....

The whole lining up thing early is no big deal. what sucked was the amount of line holding/cutting that was going on was crazy. Full cars of people were being dropped off. I get the whole i had to park the car thing thats fine if 1 person comes back but i watched car loads of people get dropped off while one of them is on the phone saying "ok we are here where are you?"

That lady walked the line telling everyone what was going on. some hotel guests were lined up behind me because they were told there is only 1 line and that lady confirmed there is only this one line and there would be no other lines.
needless to say after they found out about the hotel line it was too late and they were POed. I think the wife was one of the people that gave the CMs a piece of her mind.

lol, not rude and very true. one of the reasons people stayed was someone started a rumor it was 1 pin per person. even though the CM was telling everyone its 2pp. another reason was not everyone is going to take every wrist band. LOL. they obviously dont shop on black friday. even if not everyone took a Cheshire wrist band it still wouldnt make it past 400.

He has pics on his FB dressed as a CM. When you search his SN you dont see too many good things. lol

I think its funny when people complain about DSSH pin releases. they should have went to this pin release. their heads would have exploded. :p

Those pictures are worth a MILLION words. I can see at least three VERY SMALL CHILDREN in the first one. Im sorry children should not be forced to work in the middle of the night on a curb (or alley) so that their parent can make money....OR get pins for themselves. Children are legally protected from this exact sort of abuse, had I been there I would have called CPS.

Just one more major Disney fail :(

can't find him on FB pm me

He's no longer a cast member, he was a cast member in the past. I feel like rumors about this whole night are spreading like wild fire so its nice to hear a first hand account from someone there early.

people are also saying there was 200 hotel guests but the realistic people say about 30. a lot of bitter people saying a lot of things. I dont blame them for being sad for not getting one but with it being frozen and being two per person at 750, you kind of had to expect some tough competition.
