Lost pin :(

I agree with all the stories about the quality of the service declining. Today we received mail that was so ripped up on three sides, the papers were ready to fall out! A few weeks ago I was waiting for a pin and instead of the pin being dropping in my box, the mailperson dropped a signature form that I had to sign for the package. The thing was, two of us were sitting right here and she never knocked to attempt to deliver it. My daughter had to run down the street to ask about it and she said she didn't have time to wait for my signature. So had we not ran after her, I would have had to drive to the post office to wait in line for something that should have been delivered! I have also noticed that quite a few of my packages are going from Los Angeles to Santa Clarita and then back to Los Angeles before being delivered. One time I purchased a pin from someone in Lakewood, CA and I watched the pin go all the way to Santa Clarita before coming back to me in Lakewood, CA!!!
I hope they get it together because it really is amazing that we can mail things around the world for as little money as we do and be somewhat dependent on it all getting there!!!

USPS sucks at my apartment complex. The mailperson is lazy that he fills out all those slips AHEAD of time and drops them in people's boxes instead of TRYING to deliver them or use the larger boxes with keys. I like UPS the best. I usually have to go to the post office to pick up my mail if it's a bigger package (sent through USPS) that can't fit in the box.

I'm sorry this has happened to you I just purchased the most expensive pin of my life, and it is marked as "Delivered" but I have received nothing. I am very anxious. If it doesn't show up tomorrow I will probably flip out.

I use USPS for a TON of mailings - pins and vinyls, and other stuff too.

I used to ALWAYS use Priority Mail 2-Day - I figured the extra $3 was well worth the free $50 insurance, free tracking, and my recipients got their packages really fast.

Then I did a vinyl SALE - the recipient paid me for five vinyls, plus shipping. Tracking showed "accepted" and "sent to sorting facility" the first day, and then nothing. For a week... I called the recipient and asked if the vinyls had arrived. "Nope". Another week... Still nothing.

I called USPS to file a claim, and I was told, "Oh, PRIORITY MAIL is not GUARANTEED - you have to use EXPRESS MAIL for that!" What? I have been paying over $5 per package ($2.32 first class) to send stuff Priority 2/3-day and it's not guaranteed? Nope, it's just a possibility. Not only that, I couldn't even begin to open a claim until it was 30-days past the targeted delivery date. Seriously? Where is that tidbit published?

On the UP side of my little saga, recipient contacted me at day 28 and said package arrived in great condition. I was getting ready to pull replacement items out of my own collection to send out FedEx, when I got the good news.

I also have a PO Box, and it's a fair distance from my home. It's an event, to go to the Post Office and check mail. There have been times when I receive someone else's mail in my box, and I don't notice until I get home. Depending on what it appears to be, I may wait until the next time I go in to the PO to return it. Sometimes I just want to hand the guy behind the counter a shoebox full of OPM (other people's mail) and ask how much the person who puts the mail in the boxes is paid to match up those four or five digits. *snarky*

I know it sucks, and I am right there with you in hating when my mail shows "delivered" and I don't have it, or when it shows "in transit" for EVER with no status changes... (Did someone drop it on the floor and kick it under a desk? How can there be NO SCANS???). Take heart, though. These things have a way of working out. Hmmm.... I wonder if there is a relatively inexpensive GPS tracking device that could be mailed with the packages... *thinking hard* We could all pitch in so everyone has a couple, and then just transfer them to one another with the pin trades...

I'm so sorry to read this starry!! Selling or buying, it is absolutely frustrating whenever something goes wrong with the post office. I really hope things turn out well for you!!

Sorry to hear about this. There is no excuse for that pin not being delivered to a PO box. I could understand the neigborhood kids messing with a mailbox but this never left the Post Office! I hope they come up with it. My second trade with pinpics crossed the country 5 times before it was finally snagged. Hope your pin shows up.

Don't lose all hope! I just got a pin delivered to me that was supposed to have been delivered in July! I can only guess it fell between the seats of the mail carrier's truck or something. I kind of feel bad because I launched a complaint with Ebay and the seller provided a tracking number (that didn't work) so I didn't believe it was sent and now it shows up over 6 months later and I felt like a jerk, but hey how was I to know!? So hopefully it will show up!

Update on that:
After talking to whole lots of people I opened up a claim with receipts to verify the value. It seems all lost items gets sent to a recovery area in Atlanta. Weird thing is that the package went to FL and never left the facility and they have no idea what happened? Not saying this happened to your package but you need to be consistent with your phone calls. Hope it turns up soon.

Well, the USPS guy (via the phone) said I should receive a call by the end of today from the local post office. If not, call them back tomorrow and let them know. We will see. I am going to do what Rik suggested and post a flyer or two by the PO box and see if anyone has the package.

I had the same thing happen to me on the other side of the state. Our main hub by Pittsburgh is in Warrendale and it shipped to a town around 30 minutes away from me then went back to the main hub then back out for delivery to me. This was a pain and inconvenience but at least it ended up coming.

Oh my gosh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed that the USPS has been terrible lately! I paid a lot, and I do mean a lot, for "Express" service, guaranteed delivery, due to the item that I was having shipped was breakable and I wanted to make sure it got here within the least amount of time. I did not end up getting it until two days after the "guaranteed" delivery date. What's worse, the package tracking said it was in the town next door for a couple of days without moving. I was really pissed about that.

Well, we were supposed to have another "guaranteed" delivery a couple of days ago, and that didn't make it, either.

Now, I'm waiting for a pin that seems to have been sitting at the post office for a few days already, before they finally did anything with it. And I know the shipper brought it in the day after I purchased it, as they have always been reliable.

I can blame Valentine's Day for the more recent problems I suppose, but really, I haven't been impressed the last month or so. And I get a lot of deliveries.

Edit: And geez, I meant to say SO SORRY about your missing parcel! I do hope it gets recovered soon!

Glad (sad?) to see that I am not the only one having USPS problems. I mailed out pins from SD to Anaheim the end of December and the tracking number still shows electronic shipping information received though I dropped it off at the post office myself. The package still has yet to arrive at it's destination. I ended up buying them another pin to send because I felt so bad. I'm hoping some day it comes out of pin mail limbo. I filed a claim and basically they said the same thing to me as Norlando319, sorry but you didn't ship express mail so there is nothing we can do.

In the past month I have had two lbe show up with tire tracks on them and holes. In one the pin was damaged. It was a PoDH and the little bubble was smashed No piece of history. The pin was packaged properly, bubble wrapped inside a bubble mailer but even that can't stand up to being run over. The other thank goodness wasn't damaged.

Also last month my soon to be ex-husband moved out and forwarded his mail. Tell me why my mail is getting forwarded as well??? WTH I didn't move!!!!

Soooooo frustrating.

if that happened to me I would ask for my money back from the PO they said Guaranteed on that date but 2 days later I would ask for my money back and it happened twice thats not cool at all I hope the next item you get like that all arrive on time

So update. Three calls with usps.com and still no pin.

Sellers if your buyer pays you as goods either use the PayPal prompt that says Print Label or send a message telling your buyer that you shipped out the pin and give them the dc number. If I had gotten the dc number sooner I probably would have had more luck with the usps and they may have found it in some other persons p.o. BoX

for the other two pins I bought I had to initiate a Paypal dispute before the seller finally shipped the pins. Grrrr....
