Money money money!

that's not even funny... Do you want to start fights in my house??? Never ask questions like that...LOL

Some people like fancy clothes, designer purses, expensive make-up, gourmet food, dining out, etc. I don't drink (usually), don't smoke and don't spend money on the things I mentioned. I'm on a strict budget with everything else...so pins are my life, er, vice. They are just too fun. I start to walk by one of our pin boards and stop/stare for awhile. I always come away smiling. Everyone has something they're willing to spend their money on - why not Disney pins?! :)

If you could guesstimate how much a mont you spend on pins a month, how much would you say?
Glad somebody had the balls to ask this question! Being new as well, I often wondered the same thing. I know I find myself updating the budget far less because then I'll know exactly what has been dropped in these crazy first three months!

no doubt the best response in this thread .... Funny stuff. I imagine there's a good bit of truth to it as well.

I'm thinking it depends on how many years you have in the hobby? In the beginning, one tends to spend too much then learns from their mistakes. Then focuses in on a theme or two or three or...... Then the bulk of the money goes for the Grails in those themes. Once the experience settles in, then the selling off traders that can't be traded and multi trades and specific auctions are won/lost.

I spend about less than $50 per month but recoup that cost due to upgrade trades and sales. For the last 2 years I have managed to get my core collection free of cost and downgrading my Trades so I will only need the new releases that are released. So you may ask also how many years have you been imprisoned in this unrehabable hobby.

this was actually the spin on it that I was most interested. Sound like what I thought (and hoped) would be the case. Just starting out, I'm still primarily buying because well ... what do I ave to trade really? I keep trying like he'll and actually find myself buying more pins to trade with rather than ones to go in my "collections", of which only one is starting to look like an actual collection. Now, the kids have collections and that is probably where most of my money goes ... similar to everything else in life.

I hope to buy less and trade more sooner rather than later, but you have to start somewhere. MASTER did hit on my fear whereas the further you go down the rabbit hole, your eye get bigger with grails and such. Buying less, but spending more. In reality, I'd guess it never stops as long as your interest level remains the same.

Not that its any of my business but what do you all do for work? I wish I had 300 dollars a month to spend on pins! I usually buy 2 or 3 a month if that and I make a nice salary.

OR is it that you all love pins so much that you just dump money into Pins and only pins. I do have other hobbies and that could be a source. Also I have a wife who thinks my pins are stupid....so thats a bit of a :(

I have pin envy of all of you!!! :)

For me, the biggest contributor to being able to have money for pins is that we don't have kids. That leaves us with more disposable income than most people. And being mid-30's my husband and I are fairly established now. Decent income but not super large. Plus, as others said, we don't spend a lot on other typical adult vices.

i guess ill be one of the few to throw out a figure

since qugust when i started ive spent $867.37

i have my receipts from DLR in a folder along with DSF
and i checked my history on eBay

I don't know if I am included in your question, because, as I said, I did save up for months to prepare for June. If so, to answer your question, I work for the state, and while I don't make particularly great money, it is enough to feed my addiction.

Now keep in mind that I don't have a husband to think pins are stupid. And I don't have kids to spend my money on. And I don't have a mortgage or a car payment.

And to answer your other question, I do have three other main hobbies, but they are mostly research-based, and don't cost much money... well, besides buying books... but a lot of it can be done for free online.

If I look at what I spent on ebay for the past 60 days (which is usually 90% pins).... It says:

$562.17.

And that's after taking a break the past three weeks. I know last month it said over $800. ;____; My poor wallet.
