Hi Everyone!

Being new to collecting I thought I'd ask some experts questions I had about Disney Pin Trading.

First, I was wondering what collectors used to store and display their pins? I just started with a lanyard last month on my first trip to disney. Well now that's full and I've got many more I need to protect and display. The lanyards are great for trading at the park but I'm finding it not so great to store them at home on. I love looking at my pins but want to protect them as well. Anyone with suggestions on what to use and where to buy?

Second, right now I'm having a hard time with trading as I don't want to let any of my pins go!! Lol But, eventually I'd like to start trading. I've seen tons of references to Pin Pics on many threads. My question is what is exactly is it and how do I start? I'm sure it's easy but being a newbie to the pin collecting scene I'm not quite sure how it works. Any advice and instruction would be great!!

I've only been on the forums for a few weeks but I've already met some great people! I just wanna say thanks for the warm welcome and help! I sure do appreciate it!

Do you want to see your pins, like have them displayed on a wall? You can get a shadowbox, you can find them at your local craft store, that is a a frame so it protects your pins and you can also display it on your wall. A lot of people use corkboards to display their pins. You can buy them at Target or Walmart. I use prestretched canvas. You can paint the canvas and design them. You can get them at your local craftstore as well.

Pinpics is a website that is a pin database that lets you trade pins. http://www.pinpics.com/ You can set up and account and put what pins you have for trade on there. If people have pins you want and you have a pin they want, it allows you to set up trades with people. It also allows you to display your collection online.

I don't have the room to display them unfortunately. I was thinking I'd want something portable. Anything like that available?

No matter which way you decide to store them, my advice is, if you don't display them with the original cards, keep the cards somewhere; in a drawer, in a box, anywhere. As we have seen, lots of traders like to have the original card, especially now that so many pins come on individualized cards. That way if you do ever decide to trade them you can go back and get the cards.

I would love it if someone could help me create a signature with a picture of my needed "Holy Grails." Some people are really talented at making those pictures lol.

Hi there and welcome! I use a pin bag (you can get tham on ebay if you live away from the parks) and my son uses a cork board. I would suggest try to pick a few subjects to focus on, or it becomes overwhelming!

BTW I think our dogs might be related! LOL This is Lily...looks a lot like your avatar!

We have a pin bag that we keep some in, and we use cork boards. I don't have a lot of wall space either, so we actually hung the cork boards (we have 2) on the door to the guest bedroom! The door doesn't get opened/closed a lot, and has no direct sun (from any windows or anything) so the pins won't get damaged. We do keep the cards in a container in a drawer as well. My mom has a small apartment, so she has a pin book that is her "coffee table book".

My hubby thought about putting pins (on their cards) in sleeves similar to what they use for baseball cards in a binder....I haven't actually tried it out, so I don't know how well that would work with the thickness of some of those pins.

I would like to second this. I just started myself back in November and was going for a wide variety. I was seriously overwhelmed when I realized how many pins are out there and how crazy it would be to collect them all. Since, I've narrowed it down to 4 or 5 subjects and it's helped alot.

Also, I have the majority of mine on a cork board, but am currently in the process of making a lighted shadowbox display for my Piece of Disney Movie pins.
