So over the past month I've sent about 50 trade requests via pin pics. I have received about 10 responses and have only managed to make about 3 trades. Is this a normal ratio? I know I don't have a lot of feedback, but I am willing to ship my pin first and I've put that in most of my trade requests. In beginning, I may of made some mistakes in comparing values, but I think I'm getting better at it. I look at if the issue number on the pin and the trade/want ratio. Am I missing something else I should be looking at? I don't want to be sending out ridiculous trade requests. Don't get me wrong. I'm not upset by this. I just am so excited to get started I want to trade more. I feel like no one wants to play with me.

Maybe no one will trade because I can't type a title of a thread correctly. That should be no one will trade with me, not me for me. UGH. I don't think I can edit that can I? LOL

Also, I feel your pain! I have been trying to make a pinpics age for months. My current wants list has some HTF pins so I usually send out requests to the same group of people, who never seem to respond. Its kind of crazy because sometimes I am giving them more value for what I want, but I just can't seem to grab any of their interests. I think they have certain rarer pins on their "trades" list that they would only trade away for their personal grails.

My best advice is to try trading on here. This is where I make most of my trades, and I also feel WAY more comfortable trading with a member here than with an anonymous online trader. Since I kinda know most members on here, except for the newer ones, I feel like I can trust them more to be honest about the condition of the pin and actually sending it out.

Thanks for the tip mybabykelly. I don't look like such a fool now!

I don't have anything to trade that I consider "grail" worthy, they are for the most part common pins. But I am asking for common pins. So, I guess I'll have to be paitent. I can't afford to buy anymore right now. You can't eat pins :eek2:

I have a feeling that the latest postal increases have turned people off to common, single pin trades. They want multi-trades or get a higher level (grail, sub-grail) pin to make the postage fees worthwhile.

sent a PM, but I agree with hopemax. I try to do multi-pin trades because of postage (you can usually send out 3 pins for the same price)

stary_solo answering your PM

mickeymousej I am interesed in the pin below but I don't have anything on your trade list. Look at what I have and see if there is anything you like.

Pin 82619: DLP - White Rabbit

As far as multitrades, I not quite ready for that. :/

I have the same experience, i send out about 25 offers a week and maybe get 2 answers maybe 1 trade. Also i have made really equal trade offers on here to folks who have something i want and i have something they want and still wont trade....SO WHY HAVE PINS ON YOUR TRADE LIST? i am talking totally equal trades, no LE OR HTF or AC AP nothin,,normal lanyard pins. oh well. So now i am PM you with possible trades! lol

::shrug::

Pinpics/online trading has gone down quite a bit in the last few years, especially considering how it used to be. To give you an idea, though, I doubt my average is even one trade a month right now. Of course, I'm only looking for new releases and very HTF pins, so I might not be the best gauge.

The postage does has something to do with it, too- if I'm going to spend $3 towards that trade, it would either have to be a trade I *really* want to do, or multiples, so I can knock several off my list.

Just keep offering what you consider fair and even trades, and you'll get hits. I don't know that ANYONE is doing huge volume trading right now, and if they are, they should share their secrets (I would assume a huge arsenal of pins, all highly desirable ^_^).

I have been making quite a bit of pinpics trades lately . . . . most of them are multi-pin trades because the postage costs. My pin resolution of 365 pins via online trades is coming along rather nicely. I think pinpics trades come in waves . . . .

Hi,
It took me time to get the first few trades I still struggle lol
So hope you get loads of trades soon I will have a wee look to see what you have !!!
Good luck

I agree it does seem rather difficult to get a response for trade requests at pinpics. Alas, this morning was the very time I have heard from anyone from the site and it was someone offering me a trade for my most desired pin, the archimedes pin in my sig.:hsd:

Congrats Mitchell! I did trade for a DSF Roo pin last week, so it has not been all bad.

I have gotten a lot of responses for trades just from this thread! Thank you all! I'm so glad I found DPF.

Hmmmm Never thought of that :ugh:

"You can't eat pins."

Nonsense, you just saute them with a little butter and garlic until they're nice an tender. The serve with a nice white wine and good crusty bread.

And you have at least one trade offer coming your way.

On the other side of the email, there can be other reasons when someone is not responding to trade offers. As the CEO of Google recently pointed out, these wonderful creations (email, cell phones, Ipads, laptops) do have an OFF button. A week at the Oregon coast - no internet / limited cell service and the US tax season demanding my attention means that I usually save fun for the weekend and then respond out.

Contrary to popular opinion, sometimes a "slow/no reply" just means the other person is busy, not that they've fallen off the ends of the Earth or abandoned pin trading. Remember this is supposed to be a hobby, sometimes life has to take priority.

Oh yay! So happy for you! Yeah, it's definitely hard to trade for pins in my experience too. Actually for me what is harder is finding pins that people want to trade for. But every once in a while when it does happen on here or on PinPics, it's the best feeling and so fun to get a pin or pins you need and know you are also helping someone else out in return All the best in your trading, and hoping lots of good trades come your way!
