(OK, gonna slip on a flame-retardant suit here, just in case.....)

This has bugged me for a long time and I'm wondering if it's just me.....

I get fairly regular trade request e-mails outside of Pinpics, as well as counteroffers to Pinpics requests that I send or receive/respond/counteroffer to, in which people list Pinpics numbers only. It's not so big a deal if it's only one or two but usually it's a handful or two (or more, like ten or an even dozen!). I never do this. When I ask about pins I don't say, for example, "I'm interested in your 15949 for my 28260." I say "I'm interested in your Pin 15949: WDW Cast Lanyard Series - Beauty and the Beast Heart for my Pin 28260: Disney Auctions (P.I.N.S.) - Happy Valentines Day (Jessica and Roger Rabbit)." Or I use a link to the Pinpics listing.

When people send me numbers then I have to take the time to look them up myself - and then remember what they are or make a separate list - when it is absolutely just as easy to send a link or the full description as it is to send the number alone. This just strikes me as thoughtless and, yes, a little insulting. Sometimes I bite the bullet and just look them up, sometimes I request descriptions instead of numbers. Most of the time other traders are happy to send the descriptions (sometimes apologetically) and other times they are borderline (or not so borderline) rude and say something like "just forget it then." Recently I had someone say to me that if I was too busy to look up numbers then I was probably to busy to mail pins anyway. Really? I've been doing this for a long time. and I thought that was a bit unnecessary.

Anyway, do I need to just get over it? Or do others here find this as inconsiderate as I do?

Thanks. Sorry to ramble.

I'm with you on this. I prefer the full number and name (I just copy and paste from Pinpics). Apart from making it easier to do a quick first assessment of the offer, it also ensures that you're clear about which pins you're talking about...it's so easy to transpose digits when you type a number...if you copy and paste from Pinpics that won't happen.

A link is nice too, but not necessary IMO, especially since not everyone is comfortable with that stuff.

By the way, how did you customize your font? I've tried to figure out how to change my default font but no luck.

I've had a few like that when when I had trade assist running, since disabled it as I just do everything here. But yeah, when you have the list right there and going via email it's easier to highlight/copy/paste the entire thing rather then having to go to Pinpics to look up what pin it is(rather then look what specific pin it is if you must).

PS. The font change probably occured when copying from Pinpics, it can be changed in edit mode.

I am actually with you on this one too. Even in my dpf auctions, I prefer to see a descrip with the number, or even a thumbnail pic.

I wont end a trade because of it. lol but I find it annoying to have to go open extra windows to search a pin out for comparison.

I see this all the time on the auctions here, and it is so annoying. Even if you want to bid, you have to look up the list of pins offered by someone else just to see if your bid is any good. I mean does it really take a lot of work to list the name and/or picture of the pins offered instead of just the numbers?

Since I've seen this many times of the forum, I started to think people were able to identify a pin by number only. I barley can remember my cell number, so I'm glad to know that Pinpic number memorization isn't a thing. I was starting to imagine conversations like,

"My new 4527 is absolutely divine."
"Where did you get it?"
"Oh, I traded it for 38621. It was worth it"

I hope that never catches on. It took me close to 6 years to memorize my cell phone number

I prefer when people just copy the number and name of the pin. It makes my life easier because while I will look up the pin anyways, I can at least say "no" right off the bat if its a character I'm not currently interested in trading for.

It doesn't really bother me much, but I don't mind looking up the numbers. You're right though in that it gets a little irritating if you have to keep looking up the numbers just to keep track of trade request. I wouldn't think too much of the other peoples attitudes...the trades just weren't meant to be if they want to act that way. As my dad says "it is what it is" lol.

It can be really annoying though when your running an auction and all they give you is the Pin Pic Numbers. I would rather have both so its easier to keep track of.

The auction thing really annoys me a lot more than if its just a few pins in a trade you're involved in with a single person. Sometimes I think might bid on something but then I scroll through to see what I'm up against and it's just a whole bunch of numbers so I move on rather than looking them all up. Good strategy for bidders I guess, bad for the auctioneer

Personally it doesn't bother me when trading. Even with the name I generally find myself looking up the pin on pinpics anyway because I like to look at all of the info, and my trades usually only consist of one or two pins so its easy to keep track. I can see in an auction setting how it would be irritating however, especially when you need to keep up and compare all the bids.

I would love to know how people insert the PinPics numbers to where it's an image when you scroll over it with your mouse. I've been trying to figure it out forever, but I'm computer illiterate haha.

I could see this as being a pet peeve of mine as well. With my slippery memory, there's no way I could remember all those pins based on their number alone, lol.

Just type the word pinpics inside square brackets [ ], then the pin number (81320 for example), then /pinpics inside square brackets leaving no spaces. When you post it will look like this:
[pinpics]81320[/pinpics]

It is that easy.
