Hey everyone!

I am new to pin trading and all but I love it because its so much fun. I do have a question though. Does edition size matter a lot? How do you handle trades between 2 pins that are different edition sizes? The reason I am asking is because I got asked to trade my LE 1000 for a LE 2000 pin. Should I ask for another pin to balance out the difference in edition size or am I just being greedy?

Thanks in advance for everyones input!

Well honestly that just depends on how you want it. Some people trade pin for pin, which means they don't look at edition size or anything. They just trade a pin for one they like. Other people trade based on edition size, so it's up to you on what you want And don't worry, it's not being greedy

As Disxar said, it depends on the person. In most cases, I think it would be smarter to rely on want/trade ratio than edition size, and even then it isn't a full-proof method of telling. I've seen LE250 pins have less than 30 wants and about 20 trades, which is a terrible ratio for almost any pin, let along an LE250. Each pin is different, so I would rely on that to figure out where your pins stands. Take into account who the pin is of, which park or place it could have been found in, it's want/trade ratio, and what pins you think you could get for it. I'm sorry to be vague, hope I could help a little bit xP

well just on the subject of want/trade ratio... the LE 1000 pin im trading is 3 trade/ 38 want. and the LE 2000 pin i was offered is 11 trade/ 18 want....

Personally, depending on how badly I want that LE2000 pin, I would ask for something small extra. Not only is the LE1000 pin half the edition size at the 2000 pin, but the want/trade ratio is definitely better, being about 1 trade for every 13 wants for the LE1000 and only 1 trade for every 1.5 wants for the LE2000.

Hmm yeah this is pretty much how i was thinking. I really do want that pin so I'm definitely gonna try and trade for it. So i might counter. I see another pin in their trades that I've had my eye on as well....

And if you think the other pin they have that you want is too big, you can always try adding onto your trade. I find it fun trying to figure out a perfect trade. Good luck ;D

Yes, you need to look at how much the pin is in demand (e.g. On Pin Pics) also. There are even some old LE 100 pins less in demand

I've traded a number of pins for different LE sizes. It really just depends how much you want the other pin. But it is good to take into account LE sizes sometimes, the Trade/Want ratio on pinpics and also the current value of the pins.

It really depends on a lot of different variables and how you feel about both pins. my main advice would be Dont make a trade if you feel uncomfortable. LE sizes are an indication but some pins are more sought after than others. for example the reveal conceal pins where limited release but if you look at the prices they sell for you can see they are valued more then say a general LE500. I tend to base a trade on the following. The type of both pins (eg limited), the trade to want ratios, how easy is it going to be for me to try and get this pin if I turn down this trade? how much I like both pins and what I traded or paid for my pin. I trade alot of UK disney store pins with US traders, after postage an LE350 may cost me £11. If I cant buy the pin I am trading for, for £11 then it seems like a pretty good deal to me. The hades no smoking pin in my signature is LE 750 but proved to be pretty hard to get hold of, therefore when someone asked for an LE 300 that I paid £10 for I jumped at the trade.
I would'nt go soley on edition size but if you can look at your pin and say, yup I would rather have the other one and not miss this one than its pretty good. It is okay to say you feel uncomfortable with the gap and would the person be willing to add anouther pin? I have done 2 pins for 1 a couple of times , with both me recieving or sending the 2. I hope this helps.
