I was thinking while I was looking at pins, Do you guys like pins with the years on the front or do you only collect those if you were at the event that year,
For me unless it is a character I really like. I try to only collect pins with dates on them if I was at disneyland. For the event plus I get my kids one with the year on it whenever we go, I know for me the belle with maurce pins that have the year on them I will collect because I love those pins

I collect the yearly dated pins, especially with the characters by the castle with the dates under them or with them on the pin

I dont' care for the dates on my pins... but then i mostly collect cut outs of characters... Unless it is HERCULES! or Tarzan.

Dated pins are harder to use as traders cause a lot of people find them unattractive and less valuable. I don't like them as well so I try to avoid them like the plague. I also don't like pins with writing (except for marquees), but that's a whole different story.

i think of dated pins as more to sentimental value. i have a good amount of dated pins just because i purchase them in memory of events i attended. but to get extras.. its kind of hard to trade them off.

I agree that dated pins are great for sentimental keepsake and also when collecting them year on year its nice to compare how the designs have changed. But unfortunately as many have already said, alot of traders dont like them. Its a great shame!

Normally, I'm not a fan of pins with dates on the front. However, there was one pin that I really liked when I saw it on pinpics. I was fortunate enough to be able to snag it recently and it's even more beautiful in person.

I don't know if you can tell, but it's all pearlescent and shiny! And it's a really good size, not quite jumbo but close. It's an awesome pin and I absolutely love it, despite having the date on the front

I'm not a huge fan of them, but I always try to get a dated pin every time I go to WDW. That way, I can remember which years I went to WDW(since I forget stuff like that pretty easily). I will admit though, some of them look pretty nice .

I"m with the majority. As a rule, I don't collect pins with dates or words on them, with a few exceptions if I really, really like the pin. I'm hoping to go to WDW next year and will get one dated pin for myself.

I'm very happy that this thread was started because I had the same question regarding these yearly pins. I only got into this last year, and thank god I have only purchased two date pins. I guess I know better next time

I love dated pins! They are actually what I look for! So this thread helps me out, because now I know a lot of people are trying to get rid of their dated pins. Score for me!

I'm not a fan either. If the date has significance for you, then it's worth getting as a remembrance, but they don't generally trade well because the date will only have significance for a subset of traders.
